The SDMB Weight Loss Club Part Drei (three)

In case anyone is interested, my weigh & measure at Curves was this morning. I’m down 39.25".

Wow! Just, wow. Just out of curiosity, Ginger, what measurements do you keep track of? I record my waist, hips, thighs, calves, ankles, chest, and upper arms, but I’m thinking maybe I should add on a few more points of fluff so I can have a better idea where the stuff is coming from.

Let’s see:

Bust -.25
waist -4.75
abdomen -9
hips -9.75
thighs -8 (4 each thigh)
upper arms -1.5 (.75 each one)

They also track my body fat percentage and weight. Since joining there, I’m down 45.5 lbs and 5.9% body fat. I started at Curves after having lost some weight already.

Thanks. I think I should keep track of my abdomen as well as my waist and hips. And it never occurred to me to take off for each arm and thigh. :smack:

197.5 this morning. And yes, I will still be dieting over Christmas.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I can only assume that since this thread is belly-up, you have forgotten your goals. Well, we’re only a few days from a new year, and the resolutions that come along with it.

I have been following my program all the way through, except for one day. I am on -plan and hoping that the New Year will bring me a size 10 and better health all around.

Who’s with me?

Never fear, Ginger dear. I am totall with you.

For some reason, I had a bit of backsliding. (I think I wasn’t paying attention to what I was eating, really, and let some excess carbs sneak in.) I’m good again, though, and am down to 170.

I want to be further ahead than I am, but I have lost 26 pounds. I have a long way to go, but I have come further than I really thought I would. I think I can go all the way and hope the new year brings a size 10 (and painless knees) for me as well.

196/170/140

Er, that would be totally with you.

Glad to hear it, skeptic_ev. I’ve been doing just fine by myself, and would continue that way, but it’s nice to have a little bit of help if I need it.

I’m still in. Unfortunately, I’ve let the exercise slide as of late. Hubby and I just had a nice discussion about what he can do to help me get back on the exercise track. Menopause brings with it a loss of lean muscle tissue, and the only way to combat that is with weight-bearing exercise, so my goal for the new year is to make it to the gym to lift weights at least twice a week (three would be good, but with my all-or-nothing mentality, I’m aiming for two, so that, if I see that there’s no hope for three times that week, I won’t go “oh, well, this week’s shot, so never mind”). I have managed to maintain my weight-loss, which pleases me. Hopefully, when I get back to lifting, I’ll see pounds start to drop again.

I hauled my sick self to the gym this morning. It nearly killed me. Tell me again why I do this?

Work out when you’re sick? I dunno.

Work out in general? 'Cause it makes you look and feel better.

Well I was down 2 pounds the week before christmas and I’m still there the week after so I consider that a victory.

Good for you following your plan through the holidays Ginger!

Any day you don’t gain is a good day! Good work!

I intend to join you guys on Jan 5. My New Year’s Resolution. I am 45 years old, and have weighed around 165-180 for the past 20 years. I have ballooned up to 198.5!!! I blame that on quitting smoking 4 months ago, but it’s time to do something about it. I hate the way I look, and I intend to start a healthier way of eating, and exercising a lot more. Veggies and lean meat, cut out most sugar and starch, and drinking tons of water.

See you soon! And congratulations to all of you for your success!

Ginger, I’m not trying to sound like your mother or anything, but if you have even a tiny fever, you shouldn’t work out, as it can cause your fever to spike; so sayeth one of the trainers at the Y.

Delores, welcome aboard!

Welcome, Delores.

After my unfortunate Atkins experience, my weight has seemingly become independent of my food and exercise, and I am back to 182#. This is still a weight loss of 25# for the year, but it’s half what I had lost by July! Numerous trips, and the hoidays, haven’t helped any.

Therefore, I’ve reloaded my DietPower software. My goal is to be back to 160-150 by July.

Should we start a new thread, do you think?

I think that’s a good idea. These long threads really give the hamsters a workout.

Yeah, sure. Everytime we start a new thread, the post count goes into overdrive for a few weeks before it settles down, and by then we’re on Page 5. (Took us only 3 weeks, this time.) But whatever.

Right now, I’m getting over the Christmas goodies. Zoomed up from 173 to 178, now back down to 175. Third time I’ve been within 1 pound of goal (172) - right before Thanksgiving, right before Dope The Halls, and right before Christmas.

Way I’m going, I’ll be down to 173 again right before the NYC MegaDopefest. Grumble, grumble.

OH, I like how that works, RT! Maybe I’ll get down to 165 the day before NYDope! Think I can?
