I finally broke the 250 barrier a couple of weeks ago. Went down to 248, but am back up to 255, Damn it. Still down a total of 55 lbs from my max of 310. My goal is 220.
I’ve been doing the Atkins thing (sort of) since Early July. I cheat occasionally, but not often. As of last weekend I’d lost 20 pounds. Then on Monday we went for Mexican food. No rice, no beans, but I did have an enchillada and a tamale. On Tuesday I we went for Japanes and I couldn’t resist eating half of my white rice. On Wednesday morning I was up three pounds!
Then I lost my job.
I didn’t feel much like eating, so I had some leftover teriyaki steak I had in the fridge. That was in the evening. This morning I was down a total of 22 pounds. Maybe 22-1/2.
my weight is staying the same and has for a while but im losing inches for some reason. 4 weeks ago i was about 264 with a 45" waist, now im 262 with a 42.5" waist. Don’t ask me how, perhaps its the creatine im taking and im retaining water or something along those line.
I started a weight loss program in August, then fell off the wagon in September, and now I have to get back on. Would someone come and personally kick my ass?

Seriously though, size and weight are usually not too closely related. I lost 50 pounds and was still wearing the same clothes with no change in fit. Then I lost 5 more and 4 inches in my waist, three sizes, etc. Alot of fat is stored around organs, on hands and feet, and otherplaces that change in mass wouldn’t be noticed. I lost like all the fat between my skull and my scalp.
Also, you can change composition ie lose fat and gain muscle and not change weight or even gain weight. This change can also make a small weight gain actually a good thing if you are gaining muscle mass.
I would urge everyone to make multiple positive steps in moderation. For example, increase exercise, watch what you eat, watch how much you eat, increase water intake, etc. That way if you binge one day, you can still feel good about having walked to work, etc.
I cheated today. I had an Orange Crush. (From a 12-ounce glass bottle!) First soft drink I’ve had since… well, I don’t know. I usually drink iced tea, hot tea, coffee or water.
But I haven’t felt hungry today. I had some ham with cream cheese rolled inside earlier today. (That’s okay on Atkins.) And a couple of hours ago I tried some Atkins pasta. I thought it was odd that the box didn’t say to drain the pasta. Weird. So I added the half-and-half and the seasoning packet. The sauce never thickened and it tasted awful! Then I re-read the box, and it did say to drain it! :smack: Damn, I can be a goof sometimes! I mean, I always drain pasta. But I didn’t see it on the box. Somebody buy me a ticket to Lourdes. I think I need to use the fountain to restore my power of sight! :smack: :smack: :smack:
I tried to give it some flavour with some bleu cheese, garlic salt and pepper. I had a few forkfuls, but most of it went into the fridge. Maybe I’ll try adding a hot dog later.
Anyway not being hungry, I figured I could afford the carbohydrate-laden Orange Crush. Tomorrow I’ll get some ranch dressing and make some hot wings. That I don’t have to read a box for!
Well tomorrow I’m trotting (well, driving, actually) my fat butt to the bookstore to get the South Beach diet thingy book. I’ve heard a lot of good about it from other people, and I figure I’ll give it a shot. Wish me luck!!
Alright went to weigh in. I lost 1.6lbs this week. That makes for a total loss of 9lbs since 9/4/03. Woohoo. Looks like next week I’ll be hitting my first 10lbs. Yay!
Of course for dinner tonight I had steak, french fries, corn on the cob, mushrooms, and garlic cheese bread so I probably gained that 1.6lbs back.
That doesn’t matter because according to the scale tonight at WW I was 214lbs. I’ll be 214lbs until next Thursday when the scale gives me a new magic number!
