I’m trying too. I’m not much for a strictly controlled diet though, and I don’t even own a scale. Instead, I’m just going heavy on the veggies and easy on the snacks and I’ve started exercising *every * day. It seemed like when I was working out 3-4 times a week it was too hard to stick with it. I’ve made it part of my nightly routine though, and I’m at three weeks now without missing a day, six weeks without missing more than one.
It must be working on some level, because I’m wearing jeans today I haven’t fit into since before my last pregnancy (9-17-03)! ::does a happy dance::
Things are okay here. Finally reinducted on Monday and I’ve got some serious damage control to take care of. This has been a very stressful month; April can’t end fast enough for me.
But I’ve lost 5 pounds since Monday which is good. Went to the gym T, W and Th.
Does anyone else’s feet burn after walking on the treadmill? Mine feel like they’re on fire after I’ve done my 3 miles and I have no idea what’s causing it!
My plan for May is to keep my carbs low, but more importantly to get back into the gym habit. Next week is finals and then we’re going out of town; but after that summer school begins and I’ll be able to work out every day.
The plan is to dump another 20 pounds by July 3rd, which would put me at the 100 pound mark. This is important to me because I will be at a family reunion and I haven’t seen most of my relatives since 2002, when I was at my all-time highest weight. Seeing me sans 100 pounds will make them plotz. I’ve always been “The Fat Cousin” my whole life. Soon I will be “The Hot Cousin,” even though I’ll still have another 100 pounds to go after this summer.
Hey losers. Congratulations! Keep up the good work.
I haven’t been doing very well since the last time I checked in. I’ve been bouncing up and down between 262-266 for the last few weeks. Four weeks ago, five of us in my office started a weight loss support group. My beginning weight was 262. The goal is to lose a pond a week. Last Friday I was supposed to be at 260, but I was at 261 and it cost me $3.00, a buck to everyone that lost their pound. Monday morning I was back at 262, so and I had to get serious. I was very careful all week and today at the “Hogs-R-Us” round up I was a svelte 259, right on the pound a week schedule.
I really need to get off my ass and start riding my bike. Exercise makes it so much easier to drop those pounds.
W00t! So, Gazelle, what did you say back??
[sub]Man, long time no talk to![/sub]
I’m 3 months away from 7 years at goal. Right now I’m struggling a bit to stay at goal. I’d like to get a little cushion back, but it’s tough to keep up the fight. I should probably read this thread a little more often to keep up the motivation!
I’ve been doing WW since March 8 this year and I’ve lost 24.5 pounds, only 125.5 to go! I just hope it stays fairly steady over the next months! If I can ever get to a Curves, I think the rate of loss will increase, but every little bit helps, and I feel SO much better already! My ankles don’t hurt all the time the way they used to and I have more energy. And it feels wonderful to wear clothes that I haven’t been able to in years!

This morning I was 227. But hey, one pound lost is a pound lost!
I can tell the scale really wanted to go down to 26, though. Maybe tomorrow or Monday it’ll be down another notch.
I’m pleasantly surprised how easy it’s been for me to stick to a diet of about 1850 calories. Mmm, bagel with chicken salad!

I’m seriously bummed. I sprained my ankle at Curves on Monday, so no working out for a week.
Re-fattening pregnant chick checking in. 194 - gain of 4 lbs since my last official weigh in day (beginning of March).
My doctor told me I could continue on WW - but that I’d have to eat approximately 900 more calories per day than I was. Uh, I had a hard enough time trying to fit in the points I had to eat, let alone another 18 per day. So, I’m just doing what I’m doing and eating what I like, when I’m hungry.
Good for you, MsRobyn! Great news, Gazelle!
Keep it up, you Dopes!
Weighed in this morning at 225. I’ve been bobbing up and down around there for days, but I figure it’s finally solid enough to count. (Darn water loss, so hard to account for.)
Eleven pounds gone so far!

I lost 1.2lbs this week after 4 weeks of not losing over 1lb. All that walking I did finally paid off. That brings my total to 37.8lbs lost. That means I am over half way to my goal weight. Man that feels really good to know. I started out with 73lbs to lose and I’m halfway there. Yay!
I’m down 10 and a half pounds since the 26th. I have 15 more pounds to go to reach my July 3rd goal, which will put me at a 100 pound loss. At the rate I’m going I may very well reach it with weeks to spare. I’ve really busted my butt since Tuesday.
One thing that is working well for me is keeping tuna and mayo mixed up in the fridge, that way when I get hungry I don’t have to make anything. I usually do about 3 cans of tuna and about a cup of mayo. High in calories, yes, but low in carbs and high in fat. Oddly enough the more fat I eat the quicker I lose shrug I’d be concerned but since I almost never eat beef I figure it evens out.
I cheated. Today marks the start of my fifth month, and I’ve lost 65 pounds. My brother (a fellow Atkineer) went to a local Chinese place for the Mongolian BBQ – that’s just meat and whatever vegetables you want stir-fried in chili oil. Totally Atkins-friendly. However, we went a little nuts and ended up with the eggrolls and the cheese rangoon and other stuff.
I am so incredibly sick. My stomach feels like it has a vast rock in it and my head is pounding. I don’t think I’ll cheat again. It’s the first of anything like that I’ve had since 1/7, so it was quite a shock to the system. Oh well. I’ve heard that occasional carb-loading can help you restart loss, so maybe it won’t be too bad in the long run.
Bambi, keep your eye on the big picture as well. If it’s been since January that you’ve eaten like that, I’d say you’re on quite a healthy trend. No one says you have to be perfect, and you can eat something wicked on rare occasions.
It is funny, though, how your body adapts to a way of eating - when you go back to what you used to do, it seems to taste and feel weird.
I know, scout. After I had done it, I figured that once in 4 months wasn’t the end of the world. Then, I had to go lie down because my stomach hurt so much. All the food tasted very odd – good, but odd. I won’t be repeating it.
Making progress, but slowly. I think I dropped another pound or two since last I posted.
If I’m right, that’s thirteen pounds lost so far, and only 43 more to go!

I’m up a couple of pounds, but I’m getting myself back on track. I’ve been jogging a mile on the threadmill every day this week, in addition to my regular workout.
Until last week, I couldn’t run more than 3 minutes without losing my will to live…I’m making serious progress…
Now, if I can just kick this chocolate addiction, I might beat off those last 25 pounds…
Went to the MD last Friday for my monthly checkup. It’s intimidation on his part to get me to play ball with my cholesterol and oral diabetes meds…
Anyway, I’ve officially lost 2 more pounds since the April appointment, but I’m not bummed out about the low number because I started bicycle commuting, and my thighs are starting to resemble tree trunks.
Even the nurse noticed a slightly thinner me.

I finally went off the stupid birth control pill that was keeping fat on me a month ago.
I found out from a Ph.d. med student friend of mine that the pill I was on is 1. a very unusual prescription, and 2. commonly causes UNCONTROLLED WEIGHT GAIN in women who take it. Which makes me wonder how big I would have gotten had I not trained for a marathon for five months. About a week after I went off it, I could already see a difference in the weight distribution on my body.
I’ve been eating pretty well and a coworker and I do five floors of stairs twice at a time, four times a day (we did the math; it’s 872 stairs). I never take the elevator. I’ve not been running as much as I’d like, partly from the weather and partly because I’m still having weird foot skin blister problems (at one point last week I had blisters in seven different layers of skin in the same spot. My foot looks disgusting). I’ve started back up with Pilates at home and I’m doing a little bit of weight training with some dumbells. My weight loss (well, fat loss) isn’t going as fast as I’d like, but I suppose it’s better to do it slowly and keep it off. At least it’s possible for me to lose weight now. It really wasn’t when I was on the Mircette. I’ll go back on the pill (LoEstrin, probably, I had good luck with that) once I’ve lost the weight I want to lose, and I’ll just be really careful about what I eat during that first month and do my best not to gain any weight. A few extra dollars saved per month is not worth not fitting into any of my summer clothes.
It kind of depresses me how far I have to go when I put on clothing that I wore a couple of summers ago, remembering how they fit me then, and realizing how much bigger I’ve gotten. This past year is the first time in my life that I’ve had extra weight, and I am still unwilling to accept it. That’s why I’m doing my best to make it go away.
I don’t know how much I weigh now, because I haven’t weighed myself since Christmas, but I do know that the size 10 jeans I bought in February are looser and the size 8s I usually wear (and the size 6 and 8 shorts) are closer to fitting than they were the last time I checked in. So I’m going to guess: 145ish/142 ish/130ish
I’m now down 35 pounds! I’m doing my toning in the mornings and cardio in the evenings, which seems to really be keeping my energy up. I aim to do both every day, but of course sometimes things happen. I am exercising at least six days a week, though. I’ve lost 2 inches from my bust, 2 from my hips, and 7 from my waist; I’ve also gone from a size 24 to a 20. Sometime this summer I want to join the gym and I’m also still considering Atkins, but I want to stick with what’s working for me right now and save that for when I hit a plateau. Glad to hear that everyone else is doing so well!
