The season starts Sunday at 1 EDT. And the Steelers' march to the Super Bowl begins.

I did make a prediction, Steelerphan, because when the Steelers win the Lombardi Trophy I don’t want anyone to call me a front-runner. I put it on record every week and I take my lumps if I’m wrong.

Glad to see you’re on board.

I’d rather say they have a crap offense because the alternative (the chiefs having a better defense) kinda makes me sick to my stomach with fear…

Good point. :smack: I would like to point out, FTR, that that statement was prior to Baltimore naming a rookie as their starting QB. I never said that or comperable after Boller was named the starter. The Ravens are good-not-great, their target year for a SB run is next year and I’m willing to allow them to have their growing pains this year. I am not so arogent as to crown the Ravens World Champs every year before the season starts simply because I like them. ( And wouldn’t dream of doing so if it had been 22 years since they sniffed victory and not just 2
:stuck_out_tongue: )

Of course! The first implies the second!

Get that airsick bag ready.

The Chiefs have looked very good on defense in both games this year. I think they and Buffalo will be slugging it out for the AFC title this year.

No need for the airsick bag. I’m going to happily float down the Nile until the last week of December.

To overuse a SDMB cliché, karma’s a bitch. Jeremy Shockey called Bill Parcells a homo, but looked considerably less than masculine in Monday night’s game when a TD pass from Kerry Collins bounced off his hurt widdul hands before the half.

Be afraid, be very afraid.

Ok, I have to admit that the Chiefs showing tough defense is new to us Arrowhead fans too. But I’m sure we’ll get used to it.

Unlike last weekend, and much to my dismay, I did not score as much this week as the Pats.

It’s time for this week’s prediction. I know I’m running late, but hey, too bad.

It’s the Bungles. 'Nuff said. This should be a tune-up for next week against the Titans. I’m so sure of that, in fact, that if the Steelers lose, I will not post again until next Sunday at 12 noon. That is my pledge to you, fine readers. Doubtless some of you will really be rooting for the Bengals now, but I don’t think they stand a chance. Which is why I’m willing to give up something like the Dope for a full week.

Steelers 30, Bungles 14.

Well, OK. They really didn’t play well, and the Bengals came through with a fairly good performance to make it close. Good on 'em. The way things are looking, Marvin Lewis will have them playing really well by the end of the year, and maybe a playoff caliber team next year. But, for now, the Steelers won. And any win you can walk away from is a good one, even if it doesn’t bode well for next week against the Titans at Heinz Field.

One more win on the way to the V-Lo Trophy.

I predict a 21-10 Steeler loss to the Colts this coming weekend.

Ummm, Bricker- that would be tough for the Colts to do, as the Steelers are playing the Titans this week. The Colts aren’t even on the Steelers’ schedule this year.

I will predict that wins over the next 3 weeks, before the bye, will be an indicator of how ready the Steelers are for the Super Bowl.

D’oh!

Where did I get that idea?

I even mentioned Eddie George earlier, when speculating what might CAUSE their loss. How I put George in a Colts uniform is beyond me.

Chalk it up to no-air-conditioner-sleep-fatigue and general idiocy.

How about those Packers!!

Nice loss to Arizona. . .

Bret- your guys are in green. The Bears may suck, but they haven’t lost the Arizona. Worse, if they don’t win the division over the Vikes, they aren’t making the playoffs. And that will trive old Huckleberry Finn himself into that retirement he brings up every time he needs some more attention.

I wonder if the Steelers will go back to the Bus now?

** Airman Doors**
I’m glad to see this thing is still going. My doormat team, the KC Chiefs, were only able to muster up 42 points this last time out.

And it’s on to Week 4 of the long, arduous march to the Super Bowl.

The Titans are visiting the Steelers this week. Wow, this will be a good game. Air McNair is setting the world on fire right now, but with Eddie George not able to get it done on the ground, the Steelers can tee off on McNair at will. There’s no doubting his toughness, but if he gets hit hard a few times, maybe in that dislocated finger, he’s done.

The Steelers have the running game going, sorta, and if they can continue that progression, the passing game will be that much more effective. Do I find that likely? Not really, but I’m a fan, and therefore am always optimistic.

And here’s where my optimism ends. They’re at home, on paper they have the number one defense, and they are playing a hurt quarterback and an unproductive running back playing on his waning reputation. However, it’s the Titans vs. the Steelers, so all bets are off. George might get all worked up and have the kind of day he hasn’t had in years, McNair might set the world on fire, and Joey Porter might get shot again tonight. Who knows?

28-24 Pittsburgh, in a hard-hitting nail biter that will keep you on the edge of your seat. That’s what I think, and I’m sticking to it.

So, BubbaDog, when can I expect your prediction, or are you just gonna wait for the result to come in and talk smack about how you knew all along that the Chiefs were gonna win, or alternatively you’re just not going to show up when they lose, either/or?

I just hope the Titans kicker doesn’t fall down on purpose again.

I will go out on a real big and sturdy limb and say the Steelers win…say 27-17…yeah…sounds good.

And Airman, BubbaDog won’t be in here until the next loss (if there is a next  ).

Oh crap! I gotta make a prediction?
Jarnal Lewis will be a big test of the Chief’s run defense but if we get on the board quick then they might just panic and air the ball in the wrong place.

Um… Chiefs gonna win. Win big if they put the Raven’s in a small hole early. Rookie QB’s have a tendency to make big mistakes when they try to come from behind.

How’s that?

Dead0Man I’m still here. I gotta work on my smack talk. That’s for sure. It just feels too much like bragging.

I guess we’re all gonna hafta wait a little longer to see if I quit showing up when the Chiefs lose.

AD You gotta tell that curtain to show up for the second half.

Raven’s and Chiefs were a good matchup. Nobody dominated but our magician, Date Hall, did what he does best.

Bubba

Do I ever. What the hell happened? The defense was fine, but Maddox played like the quarterback for Sister Rosalie’s School of Sewing and Knitting. Those interceptions and that safety accounted for 16 points, and they only won by 17. Maddox killed the Steelers, without a doubt.

Oh well, there’s always next week.
