My daughter sent me a WhatsApp asking about the Seekers, the group from the 1960s and 70s. she mentioned that Spotify has listed, under “popular releases,” three songs. All three sound techno and modern, and (to me) are obviously not the work of the Seekers that I know. The songs are titled “The Black Reflexions,” “Humanity,” and “1-2-3.” Are these from another group named The Seekers? I’ve tried looking them up online, and have not found anything about them or the music, other than videos. The videos on YouTube are listed on the official Seekers YouTube channel. Anyone know anything about this?
It looks like this is another group with the same name. Their recording company is Zotz Recordingz
Which all goes to supporting my long-term rant that, just like racehorses and greyhounds, there needs to be a central registry of band names and you are not, repeat NOT, allowed to just pick a name because it is apt, cool, clever or drug-induced.
I know it will inevitably lead to password style names like Beatles1996 and FredBettyPixies03, but that is the price I’m willing to pay to end this confusion. And I’m sure that the British Beat, New Yardbirds and the original and New Seekers are with me.
Isn’t there a “New Seekers”, too? That’s really old?
“Zotz” was also the name of an old movie starring Tom Poston.
