Band name! For real this time: help name a 70s rock cover band

My husband has formed a new band, looking to rock the events and bar scene. They’ll be a cover band focused on rock and pop (mostly rock) songs from 1974 - 1981. They’ve got the concept and song list down, and now they lack only one thing: a name.

Wanna help name them? So far they’ve looked at things like car names from that era (Galaxie 500, Alfa Romeo, etc.), played around with “bell bottom” and a few other ideas, but nothing’s stuck.

Ideally, this name would instantly convey “70s rock party band.”

I will share the ideas with the band and report back with results. Ideas? Anyone?

Butterfly Collar

Nehru Jacket

Tiedye

Moon Doggies

Led Nixon
Betty Ford’s Liver
Gold 'n Beatles

How about something like “Jimmy Carter’s Econobox”? That pretty much sums up the late 70s for me.

The Gatefold Seeds

The Wide Ties

Platform Daddy

Shiny Shirts

Strawberry Papers

Handclaps & Tamborines

The Rolling Stones?

Ok, ok…

How about:
Superbad Muthafinger - if they do any Issac Hayes covers
The Agora Beadalins - they could bill themselves as the house band for the Agora Ballroom
Concert Shirt - what everyone wore back then.
Deep Black Heep - if they do early metal
SuperAeroSkynyrdTull - I’m not sure where that one came from.

Tree Frog Night

Traction Bars

Mandatory Dance

Steel Hair

Drink Dance Kiss Repeat

Take By Mouth As Needed

Loud! What? Loud! What?

Unauthorized Personnel

Sunset Nosedive

(an anagram of ‘seventies sound’)

Holy shit. I knew you guys would come through.

Keep 'em coming – I can’t wait to lay these on Randy tonight.

**CREEP

The White House Plumbers

Deep Throat

Hanoi Hannah

Woodward & Bernstein**

Freebird Lighter Chant

Stagedoor Groupie Magnets

Concert Gods

We’re Covered

Unsafe at Any Speed

It was published in the 60s but I doubt anyone will notice.

Naugahyde Backseat

Flea Bites Nixon (RMN had phlebitis)

Rhinestone Jockstrap

Flashlight In My Pocket

Bow Chikka Wow

DaVida Gods (or, the DaVida Gardeners)

Thrill Pedal

Some suggestions:
The Love Rhinos
The Random Guys
The Bar Band
The House Band
Dr. Dre’s Little Brother’s band

Galaxie 500 is a real band, btw-- one that has fans that would love to see them reform.

Jimmy Carter & the Killer Rabbits

Thunder Child

Sam Handwiche

Blisterene

Dirt Nap (but only if you do a little punk)

Rich Corinthian Leather

Have a Nice Day

The Leisure Suits

Surgical Steel

Slow Ride

A lot depends on what type of music you play; there were many rock movements in the decade from art rock to punk to disco to new wave to others. No one name can cover them all.

If you have to stick with one, though, the obvious choice is “Disco Sucks.”

The Pet Rockers

The Muscle Cars

The Night Chicago Died (or Minneapolis, even)

Disco Demolition Night

Of course, naming a band that does no disco songs “Disco Demolition Night” may be too subtle a joke.
