The Japanese, or whoever does transaltions for Japanese hentai (sexy adult cartoons) have an obvious thing for the name “Maya” and variations on it, such as “Mia” and Mai." No, I don’t know why, but an awful lot of the leads in such cartoons are so named.

And about the sexiness of names - I think that the more “foreign” a name sounds, the sexier it seems. Maybe “Jenny” is as intriguing a name in Russia as “Ekaterina” is here.
