The sexiness of female names

I like Gretchen.

No one’s going to mention my name. :frowning:

sadly enough, my name has not been mentioned either
:frowning:

My name hasn’t been mentioned either. I don’t expect to see it here.

Bibliocat, what’s your name? Do you not expect to see it because it’s not common or because it’s not sexy?

My name’s Karolina, btw.

peritrochoid and Standup Karmic, how y’all doin’?

Any female French names are automatically sexy (sadly, it doesn’t work the same way for male names): Dominique, Isabelle, Alix, Antoinette, Martinique, Amie, Denise, Veronique…

My name is Betsey. It’s not really that common (but not unusual, either), but it’s just not sexy. Not ethic enough.

I’m sorry. It just makes me think of Carmen Electra. Or Carmen Miranda. Not Sexy.

Do you have a middle name?

I haven’t seen my name on this list yet either, but I don’t think it’s especially sexy. I think it sounds a bit harsh, actually.

I really like the names Portia and Dominique.

You’re welcome, Shrinking Violet!

There is a difference. One is a boy’s name (think Buckingham) and the other is a girl’s name. But do you know I have no idea which is which? (Without pulling out a Fleetwood Mac record).

I’ll second Yvonne, but to me the name Gretchen sounds too much like “grouch”.

Well, aryk29 I’m a female Lindsay and I’ve had my name spelled with an ‘e’ by many people, even though most girls with my name use an ‘a’, so I was wondering.

:: struts through the thread ::

The Fleetwood Mac member is Lindsey Buckingham. However, Iowa State’s women’s basketball team recently had a star guard named Lindsey Wilson.

“Lindsay” is generally a female name, but such men as Lindsay Roy Armour obviously exist.

Such “cutesy” spellings as Lynsey and Lynsy seem to be reserved for the “fair sex”.

Cassandra
Mary
Jessica
Erin
Gillian
Samantha

Nope, that’s Máire. “Molly” is just a diminutive.

I like Evie and Krystana. I met a lady the other day whose last name was Mahojonay(sp?). I think that is a lovely name, too.

Interesting. It was one of my grandmothers’ names, and you’re the first person I’ve heard to say something nice about it - my great-grandparents really hated her name, but mostly because it belonged to an Irish woman, not a Portuguese one, I think. It sounds really old-fashioned to me, but if you always precede a name with “grammy” I guess that’s happen to just about any name

[sub] yay, my name made the list too! (Shannon) [/sub]

Nathalie
Sophie
Claire
Ariana
Maya
Katie or (especially) Kat

Anything unusual, like Athena or Phaedra.

I always thought my name was common and boring…I dind’t realize it was classy and sexy
