The sexiness of female names

Okay, so irate female and CanvasShoes are my new best friends!

When I was a kid, I had a thing about these three “J” names… and these three “G” names.

"J" names: Josephine, Jacqueline, Jocelyn.

"G" names: Geraldine, Gwendolyn, Genevieve.

F_X

Pretty much any name ending in “-ah” (except Deborah, that’s my sister’s name), and most ending in “-a” (especially Natasha). I like names ending in “-y” sounds, but they’re more cute than sexy.

Yay! My real name is mentioned! Like, four times!

I feel pretty now.

Four of our five daughters names made the list!

Still missing: Cherie

Lisa
Mary Anne
Joan
Beth
Sandy

WOAH!!! I wasn’t even going to read this thread, since I figured there was no way I’d be in here, but look- I made the list!!! TWICE! Go me, go me, go me. (and I’m not picking on you for double-posting- rinni agreed with you over there on page 3.)

HomeOfTheBraves, does it count if it’s spelled differently? Hmmm? 'cause then I’ll be on the list THREE times!

Nice to meet you.

Whoa… someone thinks my name is sexy. I’m amazed!

Diana
Daphne
Maria
Fiona
Cindy

I also think names having to do with nature are super sexy:

Celeste
Misty
Sandy
Dawn
Summer
Autumn
Heather
Holly
Daisy
Rose
Lilly or Lillian

And the sexiest one of all: Jasmine

I’m pretty happy to see that my name (Laura) made the list several times. I’ve always thought of it as a pretty bland name myself, but then I’ve had it all my life.

My name would never make a list like this. It’s too uncommon. I personally never thought it was sexy. Probably because most people react with “how weird/different/unusual”, then I spend several minutes (hours/days/months) teaching them how to pronounce it correctly. My middle name doesn’t make the list either. It’s not as uncommon but I don’t encounter it very often.

I’ve always liked:
Celeste
Serena
Natasha
Angelica

My real name (Heather) has been mentioned here three times but i can’t help but laugh every time i hear an American say it… ‘hethrrrr’… hee hee (sorry)

Not all of us pronounce our R’s that way, in fact saying “hethah” would be common in the northeast… maybe that’s why it’s called “New England”…

My name is Corrine (Cor-een), but I don’t think it’s particularly sexy unless it’s pronounced the French way (Cur-in).

Katie especially if the owner of the name signs it with a little heart to dot the “i”.

Melissa
Deadry
Megan
Penny
Sangaria
Rachael
Ruth or Ruthie
Anastasia

Mine even got mentioned a few times :D…I just don’t see how anything as common and overused as Jessica could be sexy though

Definately Topaz, makes me all tingly whenever I hear it / think about it.

With a tapped R and the accent on the 2nd syllable, right?

That’s the way they’d pronounce it in Quebec.

Damn, I’m named after a singer (Carly Simon) and no mention of my name until now. At least my boyfriend seems to like my name…
[/selfpity]

I think names that are Spanish/Italian-sounding in origin are beautiful names for women. Consuela, Renata, Bella, Chiquita…
OK, maybe not Chiquita.
