I really don’t have much to add to this thread, but I wanted to pop in to say that I love this show, and last night’s episode was one of the best. I was on the edge of my seat while Vic and Lem were watching the interrogation monitor, wishing they would get out of there, knowing they were going to get caught.
And I agree that even though it looked like Dutch was going to cooperate with Kavanaugh, after the bathroom confrontation and the arrest scene, I’ll bet he views K as even more of a dangerous loose cannon than Vic.
Hard to watch right before bed – got my adrenaline going.
I feel like Kavanaugh basically just lost. I can’t see anybody wanting to help him now. Dutch might have had something that could have helped him, but there’s no way he’ll get it now, especially after the bathroom incident. If Lem was considering turning on the team, I don’t think he’ll do it now.
I was also eerily reminded of Lynn’s meltdown on 24, which was said already. Kind of weird for that to happen the same week.
I did notice that Lem wasn’t officially “booked” yet either. The person in the window said something like “we’re out of ink”. I don’t really think there was anything anyone could have done except do what Kavanaugh said, he is a Lieutenant after all, as he made very clear to Dutch, and probably outranks most of them. They’ll probably go through proper channels to make him look like he’s lost it and get him removed by someone who can.
I’d be surprised if Lem wasn’t out on bail next episode. With Amalia (?) refusing to testify… there doesn’t seem like much of a case anyway. K’s going to concentrate on Shane now anyway, thanks to Antwoine. Which we all know will lead to Mara who has no loyalty to the strike team, only to Shane.
This show is definitely the most intense and best on TV right now.
This was, hands down, the best episode of this series. This was an A+ episode of a A series. Everything came together. All the threads converged and one new, important element was introduced. You knew that Cavanaugh had to have an achilles heel.
Wow. Kudos to the writers. This episode rocked like no other.
I’m not really sure how Vic can exploit that, though. K’s already planning to charge his ex, so it’s not like they’d be able to get him in trouble for covering anything up. I don’t think Vic would go after his ex directly, either. I don’t see him as the type to do anything to an innocent 3rd party that did nothing directly against him. I suppose he might try and make K think he would do something to her, just to rattle him some more. Just like he did with Amalia, his being around her without K’s control was enough to shake him up a bit.
What about the money Kavanaugh got from Corrine? Any theories on how Vic can explain that away? We’re talking about an extra 65K out of nowhere–he could at least get him on tax evasion. None of the money is marked, they made sure not to take the marked bills, so Dr. K can’t connect them directly to the money train.
Glad to see we’re getting a good discussion going for this show finally. Hopefully we can keep it up.
I’m never home on Tuesday nights, so I DVR the show and usually get to watch it later in the week. Regardless, I still pop in and check this thread each week, because I don’t mind having some plot points spoiled for me. In fact, because the show moves so fast, and it’s easy to miss things, a couple of times I’ve been able to watch for certain nuances because I was alerted to them here.
This is hands down the best season, and pretty much every show has been better than the last.
Can’t wait to get to this week’s epispode, sounds like a good one.
That’s a tough call for me. I can say that I think each season has been better than the one before (with special exception given to the first, of course). However, I might have to give the edge to last year–at least at this point. This season is top notch to be sure, but I think the Aceveda and Antwoine Mitchell story lines last year were incredible–and both were acted incredibly well.
I just hope this season can finish strong like last year.
WEll, now he has something to dig into and see if there’s anything in Cavanaugh’s past to either blackmail or discredit him. The writers aren’t going to shift the balance of power too much in either Vic’s or Cavanaugh’s direction. They have to keep giving one and advantage, and then giving the other an advantage to make this whole thing play out over the entire sesason.
Good point, I forgot Kavanaugh had it put in there. The evidence room might as well be called Vic’s Locker.
I would consider Terry an innocent third party who was just doing his job when Vic shot and killed him. That being said, I don’t think Vic will have to directly do something to K’s wife either–the threat alone would throw K over the edge. For some reason, I just don’t get the feeling that she is going to factor into this very much now.
It doesn’t mean anything without Corrine’s accompanying testimony. That’s why Kavanaugh’s brush-off of Corrine didn’t make much sense. He’s already threatened her to get her to cooperate, but now that she’s lawyered up, the only thing he can do is inconvenience her by investigating her and freezing her assets temporarily.
I agree, but I don’t think that made him innocent in Vic’s mind. Terry was directly trying to bring down Vic, even though he was under orders, so that made him Vic’s enemy.
You’re right though, it could be that she already served her purpose by making K jump the gun in arresting Lem.
