Solid episode tonight, but mostly spinning our wheels until next week I think.
I think Dutch is headed for big trouble with the rookie cop. I think she’s playing dumb and is setting all these guys up for a big fall.
How about Claudette’s return? That was way too easy, and uneventful. Not only has she recovered unbelievably quickly from her injuries, but she seems to be in better health than before the fall. Not a good storyline there.
Kavanaugh is so low, it is sick. I can’t believe he is turning the screws on Corrine, after she cooperated with him willingly. Mess with Vic Mackey, and you’re in trouble–hurt his kids…I don’t even want to know what could happen.
Lem’s out of prison for now, but it looks like he is headed right back. Not sure how that is going to work out. It also looks more and more like my prediction of a physical interaction between Vic and the lawyer is going to come true.
Finally, how is Aceveda going to play this out? He needs to be on K’s side of things to rid himself of K’s investigation. However, he is going to need to be on Vic’s side of things to prevent K from finding out about the hit in prison. Aceveda is the key once again to the whole season–which I love. It seems obvious that he will side with Vic to get K out of the way, but one never can tell with this show.
I agree. This was the filler episode; the calm before the storm.
Aceveda is an opportunist. He’s going to play this whichever way is best for him, which they haven’t let on yet.
Corinne should have had her lawyer there when she confronted Kavanaugh - unless he was in court trying to unfreeze assets.
Julian and Danni have had an underwhelming season. They’ve lost some of the ensemble feel. I know they only have one hour, but Dutch, Claudette, Julian, and Danni need meatier stories.
I think hot lawyer babe was coming on to Vic. Why, I don’t know.
It’s a shame that 24 can get 3 pages (even if one of them is my posts) and The Shield rarely fills up a whole one.
Also on FX, BlackWhite starts tonight. Not sure if I’ll watch. Looking forward to Thief.
Agreed on the rest of the cast. Just when I thought Claudette’s story was going to get big, she shows up looking great. Julian and Danni are non-stories this year, which is a shame.
I will be watching BlackWhite tonight, and also am looking forward to Thief.
Also, with The Shield, Rescue Me, Nip/Tuck, and with Thief coming up. I would say that FX has the best dramatic lineup on television by far–maybe ever.
I think it’s interesting the way Kavanaugh has changed. He said it himself after Mackey said he didn’t have the stomach to send Lem to that prison (Lanpoe?): “I didn’t used to”.
It almost seems like Mackey corrupts everyone around him. He did it to Aceveda, to last season’s captain, and now to Kavanaugh.
Good observation, c_goat. Although, I think Aceveda was corrupted, as he was never truly clean (in a Claudette/Dutch way). He was always an opportunist, just not as dirty as Mackey. None of them, until Kavanaugh, have played hardball Mackey-style.
Did anyone notice that Danni did not deny Corinne’s claim, regarding the father of the baby. Hmmm…
Lompoc. (Pronounced Lahm-poke by the locals) It’s about a 40 minute drive from where I live. Nasty place.
This show has my heart pumping from beginning to end and then it takes me 20 minutes to calm down. They do a great job of keeping the tension going from beginning to end.
Dutch wants to bang that hot rookie but I don’t think that he’s going to get the chance. She’s going to get herself or someone else killed soon.
Kavanaugh is so frustrated that he lost his cool and is acting irrationally which will be his downfall.
Only two more eps? That seems like a short season.
“I should keep these… for evidence.” Hehe. I bet he still has the pictures in his desk. I think Dutch could totally be a stalker / serial killer, but his sense of right & wrong stops him.
Season 1 is a long time ago, maybe I’m remembering him wrong. I seem to remember him trying to be a “by the book” guy before his various troubles and deciding to run for political office.
Aceveda was never a good guy. He was always willing to do what it took to get himself ahead. He acted like a by the book guy on the outside, but as soon as he had a chance to further his career, he took it–no matter what the consequences.
Good call D_Odds about Danni, I had forgotten about that. I still say it is not Vic, and that she just didn’t want to get into it with Corrine.
I agree, this episode was basically an “interim” episode, but still plenty tense - I was nervous as hell when Shane and Ronnie were trying to get the duffel bag full of cash. And what’s going to happen to the strike team once the pot dealer father is booked and he tells how Vic and his boys set up a deal with him? And was it just me, or were the previews for next week even more cryptic than usual? My girlfriend kept rewinding them and saying “Wait - who was that?”.
Claudette’s return was far too anticlimactic - I’m hoping they’ve got something big in store for her storyline on the finale. As far as Aceveda goes, there’s got to be some twist involving his rape/prison hit coming up. When Mackey went to visit him at the end of this episode, my girlfriend was getting stressed out, but I think it’s possible Mackey saw through his little storming off routine in the barn and is actually playing Aceveda to some end that’s not as obvious as it seems.
And yeah, only two episodes left? It does seem like far too short of a season, and there are way too many plot threads to tie up in such a short span of time. Anybody keeping track of how many episodes have aired so far this season?
Yeah, especially once she gets the shooter’s father in the interrogation room. But your point just made me think of something else: maybe she’ll kick the bucket before she’s able to tell anyone about the strike team’s involvement in the stolen money. That’s really the only way I can see for Vic to get out of that particular quagmire.
He was a friend of Vic’s - IIRC, he was some kind of security expert. I think they called him to break into the safe containing the list of money train bills marked by the Treasury Dept.
Ok, can someone please explain the (laughable) logic of “Oh, I just took those images to protect her”? He’s a putz. I’m ready for a real captain again.
The logic is this: that’s a lie, and he likes pictures of hot chicks in their underwear.
This season is a little short because it’s being broken into two halves (much like Prison Break and Battlestar Galactica). Chiklis has to run off and film Fantastic Four 2, so they’re doing these 10 eps, breaking, then coming back and doing the others. I think this season will have 21 episodes in all.
I’m gonna have to ask for a cite on this. I keep up with news about the show and I’ve never heard this before. Plus, the previous four seasons have been 13 episodes each, so I don’t see why this season (rumored to be the last anyway) would be extended to 21.
