Julien to the Strike Team! Nice to see Julien getting another story line. Plus, we’ve got another serial psychopath for Dutch to sink his teeth into. Shane still has the hots for the little black girl - ruining his racist image that way. Haven’t seen his wife this season, though. And from the previews:Shane confesses to someone!
Note: Avoid the Insider’s Guide on the official website, which spoils next episode.
I’m kind of hoping that, sometime during the season, Dutch takes Billings out back for a good old-fashioned ass-kicking.
Damn, but Hiatt jumps in with both feet, doesn’t he? I’m surprised he didn’t catch a bullet between the eyes when he quietly appeared in the house; using a shotgun to hold one of the gang-members at bay.
I like the Billings/Dutch interplay: Dutch has done some weird shit, and it’s about time someone called him on (at least some of) it. I cheered a little inside when Billings pointed out Dutch’s power/women pathology. Mostly I like Dutch, but he seems to be the only major character who hasn’t had a significant flaw or two recognized by any other major character. Until now.
But Julien on the strike team? That man is too tightly wound with too many unresolved issues. I don’t see it working, no matter who the other members of the team are. I wonder what his wife will say … if we ever get to see her again. What’s with the disappearing wives this season (Julien’s and Shane’s)??
Why is the preview information spoilered? Isn’t it considered part of the airing? Anyway, I’ll be very surprised if the other person in the room is Vic.
Dutch is smart, but not terribly endearing. Vic has always teased him and made him the butt of jokes around the Barn, in large part to put him in his place. Dutch takes himself much more seriously than the other cops do. But Billings, who the writers have written as a clueless, useless jerk in seasons past, is proving himself to be smarter than he lets on.
I accidently stumbled upon poor Lem’s fate at the end of the last season. Didn’t make it any less shocking, just less of a surprise.
Can’t wait for this to make it over to C5 in the UK. I didn’t think much of it from ads and trailers till I hit the third season midway through and I was hooked.
Vic abuses Dutch because Vic is a bully and an asshole, and he spotted ‘nerd’ the first day Dutch walked into the office. Claudette takes Dutch seriously, because she knows he closes cases, something Billings seems incapable of.
It’s hard to me to feel sorry for Vic. Claudette did the right thing - show him a carrot to keep the cancer that is Mackey in check. The only one I feel sorry for, and only slightly, is Ronnie.
There were a few things Billings said/did while interim captain that made me think he might be smarter than he lets on. He’s self-centered and lazy, but he ain’t dumb.
Yeah, same here. I didn’t watch Season 5 until earlier this month (via iTunes), but I knew from promos that someone died. Then, in my thread here asking when Season 6 was supposed to start, I accidentally found out who it was – and who dunnit. Didn’t spoil that episode for me much at all.
I feel a little bad for Vic. One of his best friends got blowed up, his other best friend did it and let him kill someone else for it, and now he’s being manipulated by Chief Wyms. I’m not saying that he’d suddenly be all warm and fuzzy if he had a puppy, or that he doesn’t deserve most of what’s happening, just that he’s getting jerked around a hell of a lot right now. The guy can’t trust a soul, and doesn’t know it.
I do feel sorry for Ronnie. He’s just as dirty as the others when it comes to the stealing and drug stuff, but he’s the only one who has been smart about it and hasn’t gone completely over the edge. I wonder if he’ll ever find out about all the stuff Vic and Shane have hid from him. Part of me thinks he knows that there is stuff that’s been hidden, but he’s just smart enough to pretend otherwise and not ask questions. I’m hoping this season will bring some character development for him.
(BTW, am I the only one who compulsively looks for the scar on Ronnie’s cheek whenever that side of his face is towards the camera? :D)
Wow, I absolutely don’t remember that – and I even watched the first episode a couple weeks late, because I was catching up on Season 5. I’m glad that she *hasn’t * completely disappeared, after all. Thanks!
