The Shield: Final Season Is Going Out With A Bang!

Here’s my (very unlikely) predicton: Vic kills Shane in the next episode, and Dutch is assigned to prove that Vic did it. Dutch and Vic play a cat and mouse game for the next couple of episodes. Vic does everything perfectly and Dutch realizes that he’s going to get away with it. Dutch plants evidence on Vic and gets him put away for life. (Or kills him in cold blood!)
Edit: Seriously though, I really hope Dutch plays a pivotal role in the ending. He’s been paralleled with Vic the entire series as the Good Cop to Vic’s Bad Cop. In one episode he almost planted evidence when Vic suggested it to him, but chickened out and ended up solving the case anyway. If Vic gets brought down, I want Dutch to do it.

I heard quotes from Cathy Dent and CCH Pounder before the season started airing, implying that no matter if you want Vic to fall or triumph, you will be satisfied. The only way to do this is with an ambivalent ending. The showrunners are too smart to have a Sopranos ending, the ultimate ambivalent ending. Maybe they’ll go for a Bolivian Army Ending

Billings was in charge of the Barn?

I have no recollection of what you are talking about. Explanation, please?

In Season 5, before Claudette got the job. He was pretty bad at it.

Terry Crowley’s (the undercover fed Vic killed in the first episode of season 1) widow.

Wow. I’m not sure I have enough adrenaline for 3 more episodes.

Did Shane loose his gun when he lost his money? Did he really think the gang-bangers were going to leave him with any money?

Mara made the wrong choice…again. I’m not sure Claudette should have tipped her hand, though.

Nice to see Aceveda beat down Pezuela, and Vic to then gain the upper hand no both. I’m looking forward to Vic’s fall.

I still stand by my predictions.

I think Mara is going to double-cross Claudette and company, but somehow fuck it up. I think someone is going down next episode.

I feel bad for Ronnie, though. With every episode he’s losing his chance to get out. He’s such a bad-ass character though, I think, out of all of them, he’ll come out smelling like a rose. They’ve already hinted that Vic’s wife can’t implicate Ronnie.

3 episodes left and I still don’t know how it’s going to end though. Great show!

You guys are too fast for me…I tape the show and am afraid to look at my own thread as I don’t have time to see it for a few days.

Finally got to see the most recent episode and once again - wow.

I have no idea how this show is going to end.
Part of me says I wouldn’t be surprised if they all got killed.

But somehow, I think Vic once again is going to come out smellin’ like a rose…he is positioning himself to be invaluable to the Feds and I could see how they would want to use him as an undercover ex-cop on the take…hey, that is pretty much his M.O. from day one anyway! He would be perfect for the job.

The Feds could take a look at all of the “secrets and dirt” about Vic and still decide he is too valuable.

But that is the beauty of this show…I seriously have no clue how it will all end and it will keep me on the edge of my seat for the next three episodes to see exactly what happens. (Unfortunately, I won’t be able to comment on the season finale until a few days after it is aired, so will pick up on this thread later!)

Glad to see others find it as good as I do!

I think something really bad is going to happen to Claudette. She is making the same mistake Terry Crowley, and Kavanaugh made - going all in trying to get Vic. That never works out well for anyone. I wonder if Dutch will go down too, its not really as personal with him, he’s just doing his job.

You make a good point about the possibility of Claudette’s future. If she takes it too personal, she’s going to slip up like Kavanaugh. She already tipped her hand at the end of this episode, giving the advantage to Shane and Mara. I think she’s going to end up responsible for someone getting offed, and retire; possibly finally admitting her Lupus is affecting her skills on the job.

Was there a new episode this week?

It was on Tuesday night. They’ll repeat it on Saturday night.

I’m usually not up late enough to watch it, but my husband loves The Shield. He says everyone will have to die. That would be the best way to stay with the violent nature of the show.

Can I get back episodes on Comcast On Demand?

I know you can get them via bit torrent download, though that is probably not very legal. Easy, but not legal.

Not advocating anything illegal…just saying.
Maybe Hulu.com has them…legally.

This is my guess (OK, my new guess) about what happens to Vic. The Assistant Chief (or has he been promoted to Chief?) made a comment in this episode about how he’s cut Vic some slack, but how the man has produced a lot of quality collars. I imagine the head ICE guy will use the same rationalization. Not sure where that leaves Shane and Ronnie – shooting each other maybe? Sure, why not.

I don’t have any idea how the last two episodes will play out, but this show is insane. I don’t want to wait a week for the next episode. I don’t want to wait two weeks for the finale. I’ve never seen a show so intense.

No shit! Tonight’s show was intense throughout despite the fact that nothing actually happened. There was a lot of good set-up, though. And a nice fake-out when Shane went to the car to get Maura and the employee started scurrying across the floor - I was almost pissing myself thinking Shane was going to get shot. Which is a weird reaction - shouldn’t I want Shane to get shot at this point? And shouldn’t I want Vic to go down hard? But I don’t know if either scenario will satisfy me, because as much as I do want those things I don’t want them about equally. Damn, what a great show. With The Wire gone and now this ending, I don’t know what I’ll get excited about on TV anymore.

At this point, I can’t see Vic surviving. Makes me sad, but there it is.
