The Simpsons 11 March 2007 (spoilers)

The car might’ve been the best thing in the show. I also liked that this was the first “money is tight” plot in a while, or at least it felt that way. The family is “upper-lower-middle class,” but sometimes they have all the money in the world. This is a little more down to earth.

I’d also like the finish.

I had my DVR set to record the race, but due to issues with the DST conversion, my normal timer, which usually would have run 90 minutes over, ended at the beginning of the Simpsons (ok, actually 5 minutes before, and I caught the post-race interviews, such as they were, at the beginning of my Simpsons recording). But due to that, I didn’t get the end of the Simpsons.

I didn’t record the show, so I don’t have the exact details, but the jist was that the marriage wouldn’t work out- Selma’s job at the DMV was too taxing for her to be the breadwinner in the family, and Grampa is so ignorant regarding technology that he’d probably destroy the house.

“I guess the Beatles were wrong- love isn’t all you need.”
“I guess you’re right. Also, I didn’t realize you liked the Beatles. That would’ve caused problems down the line.”

The final gag was pretty funny- Homer using his Estaban de la Sexface costume in the bedroom with Marge during foreplay. Of course, being Homer, it doesn’t work. “Esteban” asks Marge how long Homer is out of town for, then escapes through the window before he returns. Homer then walks through the door searching frantically for Esteban, much to Marge’s dismay.

I missed the beginning of this episode. What was the deal with the fort? I got the feeling that it was making fun of this case of the guy who had a website with directions on how to build furniture out of fedex™ boxes and was threatened legally.

Bart and Lisa noticed Ned getting cardboard boxes for free and decided to get some for their own to build a fort, pretending to be a business. After the delivery man realized what was going on, he sought to get the boxes back.

Probably not- most television shows don’t credit outside music in their credits like movies do (although there are probably cue sheets made up so that proper royalites can be paid). The music credits for The Simpsons usually just credit Danny Elfman for the theme, Alf Clausen for additional music cues, and Clausen and the episode’s writer for the original song (if one is used in the episode).

I didn’t care for the Plot A, but the box fight was a highlight to me. Was Nelson a reference to Wolverine in the X-men movies?

Actually, I though it was referring to Neo from the Matrix.

I loved both stories. The fantasy scene before the kiss. I didn’t know Patty had the hots for Edna Krabbappel

That was pretty funny. I was thinking to myself, “I wonder if Patty will ever find love again- I don’t think there are any eligible lesbians in Springfield.” (She married once, but her “wife” turned out to be a man.)

Huh. I thought it was Gimli in TTT.

Not exactly. When they aquired the boxes, they had no idea what to do with them. Lisa made up a list of possibilities. When Bart read it, he said “Heh heh. Build a fart.”
