Welp, Act 1 finished last night. As per usual I was scrambling to get the final prize and straining to stay awake to get to the next chance to collect.
Turns out I had 2 hours 36 minutes before I could collect intelligence (which would have been enough to get the final prize, James Bont) but the act ended in 2 hours 28 minutes. I paid the 15 donuts I needed to get Bont and went to sleep. Aaaah.
I thought I was pretty diligent this time around, collecting intelligence at least 3 times a day and visiting my friends every day but one. I even ponied up for the “get extra from friends” boost. But alas, I was still short.
I was considering setting an alarm on my phone to remind me every 4 hours to collect but that would be annoying.
From what I’ve read on the TSTO blogs, the extra boosts from friends aren’t really worth it. I don’t know myself as I don’t get them. I did splurge on the Nerds and they can collect intel so that seemed like a good investment.
I don’t know how extra boosts from friends aren’t worth it for everyone. Maybe for most but…if i need a way to get extra whatever’s and I can’t manage to get to the game every 4 hours on the dot, then that is my only option to get more.
Not saying they are wrong (and I have read that too) but it helped me last event and seems to be worth it for me this one.
I think the point is just that the reward from visiting friends is so small. I think it’s 15 units per visit? That’s seven visits just for another 100 units. It all adds up, sure, but so does the time spent on those visits, at least on a slow phone like mine.
I flew through Act I but I bought Lurleen and the nerds. I’m hoping that they didn’t make that much of a difference because I don’t want to buy premium characters for every event just to complete it. A little to TFGQFS for my taste.
Zipper, I’ll try to remember to visit at least YOUR town after I finish Act 2. When I finish the acts, I take a break from friends visits… and the game overall if bonuts seem too much of a grind.
My number of active friends seems to be way down so I don’t get that many visits or even the max number of friend items per day anymore.
Sometimes visiting friends to get stuff is THE WORST, when you’re trying to find people to tap. The times when it’s just buildings like now, I can blow right through it.
Not sure if anyone else already figured this out, but I came up with a good strategy for the “drone scan”. Put all your fingers together like you’re wearing a mitten and just sort of mash the screen in an area where you see agents are or will be.
I was tapping with one finger on each hand and getting between 200-400 in payout. Now with this method I’m getting over 600!
I got the “Nothing to See Here” the other day and I really like this little item. I don’t need more than one but the action with the poorly-disguised characters shifting places delights me.
I’m so tired of these events. Not enough time between them. Same exact format with some cosmetic changes. Craft multiples of everything to level up to get multiples of the next thing to level up to… etc. Meh prizes for the most part, and game original stuff. Scurrying characters to tap every four hours. Three acts.
Yawn. I like the game and I don’t want to stop. I just have to complain at least once an event that they used to be more fun.
I’ve been complaining about the Simpsons in one way or the other since I discovered the internet in like 1994, 5, so clearly this is one of my callings in life.
I assume you know the drone clears them? I’m not sure if you still get the benefit though, I’ve been tapping as many as I could before.
In episode 2F09, when Itchy plays Scratchy’s skeleton like a xylophone, he strikes that same rib twice in succession yet he produces two clearly different tones. I mean, what are we, to believe that this is some sort of a, a magic xylophone or something?
No it wasn’t that. I started up the game and it centered on my HQ building and gave me the message before I got to the drone. I already got to the final prize so it’s not a big deal, it’s just an odd glitch.
I don’t think you do. In the beginning I would do the drone and ignore the Tan Men and sometimes they would be on screen when the drone was done and the men would just go into the ground with no rewards popping out of them.
God, the high drama of the Simpsons Usenet group. Every single week was “WORST EPISODE EVER” so much that they included it as a thing for CBG! And this was in the mid-late 90s, arguably the absolute best the show ever was.
I got the final Act 2 prize and ten minutes after I sent all my unnecessary peeps on 24-hour tasks, he has a task with Barney. I’m a few hundred … whatever we’re collecting… away from my first bonuts. I haven’t even visited friends (except Zipper) this round.
Did you check all your inventory? Sometimes it hides in weird places. Are your donuts truly spent? I’ve gone to buy stuff and had it not be there but my totals didn’t change. Go to your city hall and look for Duffman. He might be roaming around. If none of those things work, contact EA. I lost Belle in an event-takedown and they brought her back.
