The Simpsons: Tapped Out

My unemployment center stopped working. It only sends 12 of 178 characters on tasks, requiring me to tap the rest. Which was fine when I had 50, but not when I have 180. Anybody else have this happen to them?

That has happened to me when there’s a daily goal like "Send Springfielders to… " So the Unemployment office will send all non-Springfielders off on their tasks but the others don’t get sent and are waiting to be sent on that daily goal. Kind of annoying when you need to send 5 characters on that task and have everyone else wandering around because of it.

Yeah, I think that’s tied to this. I had a “Send Springfielders to…” daily task which I killed in an effort to get more donuts (success!). However, the game seems to think that the original task is still in effect. Hopefully, with Mr. Burns finishes his 8-hour whatever and I get my 6 donuts, things will go back to normal.

Mr. Burns is done yelling at his employees or whatever, and things are back to normal at the unemployment office.

Lesson learned: If you kill a Daily Challenge task, the game still reserves those affected Springfielders from participation in the unemployment office, even if another challenge has been offered. And this lasts until the 2nd Daily Challenge is completed.

And sometimes when you send everyone on these “make cynics eat hamburgers” tasks, it takes people out of their skins. Which is annoying because I am super greedy and I want my premium skins going alllllllllll the time. Two premium skinned characters = three regular characters and it adds up.

But sometimes it keeps them in the skins. So you can’t always tell.

I can’t just go through the thing at the top right and click everyone one by one without looking because it’ll sometimes reset the skin. I have to gasp pay attention.

The best solution is to just cancel any terrible job like that. However, they’re often event-related (Send Springfielders to hunt for Bob, e.g.) and you can’t X it out.

I’ve only made a few purchases today. My boxes still have some interesting things in them, but it’s like… if there are five things offered, then one seems to be a premium skin for someone who is already premium or has a premium skin OR something I have OR something I really don’t want. They don’t see to change up very much. Like Candy Kevin is always with the other same things, not rotated out so sometimes Candy Kevin is with the Ice King, sometimes he’s with the Mayan Bundle. Always Kevin with The Grumple and Stampy balloon for me. And those three are ok prizes. Santa’s village with a Santa skin for Homer when I already have several premium Homer skins, including a winter one? No thanks. And it has the Training Plane, which if I don’t have, I have enough planes that look like it I don’t need another.

I have a quick question about buying premium stuff. Do you spend real money on donut packs, or just use what you’ve collected, or a bit of both? I never buy any premium stuff and calculated that if I could sell my donuts 12 at a time for cash I’d get over £300.

I spent some modest amounts of money early in the game. But now I’ve been playing regularly for 5-6 years and have huge amounts of cash and bonus percentage build up.

If I need donuts I buy a single ‘rat trap truck’ and the XP from that levels me up twice for a total of 6 donuts received.

I play it similarly, I did spend a little bit early on but now there is the Monorail-recycling center jobs that get you 3 donuts as well as the find Maggie and the sometimes-donut-producing daily goal. With all of that, I have around 500+ donuts and I’m reluctant to use them. I think I have premium skins for just about everyone who can get one.

I used to buy an occasional scratcher but when the “last level” thing happened, there was a glitch that let you keep leveling up and I made like 4k donuts and have been coasting on those for a while. It also coincided with a drastic decline in quality of premium items for sale. If I had made bank when the corn glitch was going on and they were still early in releasing levels (just past the Squidport expansion, iirc), I’d have spent more on premium things. I don’t find a lot of the new premium stuff appealing and wait for them to come back in mystery boxes.

New questions just hit. There’s a 4 hour Smithers task and a Burns task to start it. I can’t do the Burns task though.

Tennis courts with a 2.25% bonus for just 10 Oscars. I’m guessing it’s a glitch that will be patched. I just bought 32 of them and bumped my bonus up considerably.

Thanks for the heads-up, just bought 300 Oscars worth, and am making more.

I’m grinding through Oscars, have raised my percentage by at least 120%. There’s 11d, 9h left on this one, so it may be possible to raise the % multiplier by 1000%.

When you posted this, my bonus was 223%. It’s now 505%, and growing. Just grinding the hell out of those Oscars.

After a little consideration, I also elected to add a bunch of tennis courts. My Springfield Heights is starting to get a little overrun with them but I don’t go there too often anyway.
Interestingly and unrelated, when I play the find Maggie minigame, I don’t usually hear Maggie sucking on her pacifier when I get close. I usually play with the volume turned down but I turn it up for the game. Anyone else experience this?

Huh. I have so much empty land in my Springfield that I’m just dumping these things “miles” away from the main city.

I hear Maggie most of the time. Sometimes the sound doesn’t come through, but I just zoom in/out and that fixes things.

I’m laying them out north of the main city in the Springfield Heights area, which has some space. I do wish we could extend the land up there because I have those monorail tunnels wasting their potential because I’d have to redo whole sections of my Springfield if I wanted to get them in.

I’ll try zooming with Maggie to see if that works.

I’ve always had a question about the Maggie thing - does she only appear in a radius around the factory? Does she have to appear in “downtown” SF? What are the conditions for her to hide?

So I just moved the playdough factory so it’s surrounded by a bunch of empty land and I’ll guess I’ll find out in 8 hours.

Not for me, she appears all over the place. My Simpsons home is in the NW area where the game starts and she’s sometimes around there or the nearby “downtown.” I have a house farm to the south and she’s there sometimes too.

Interesting! Because, for me, she only appears in so many spots - Cletus’s farm, the Simpsons house, on the roofs of the houses… and it’s all in one circle to the NE-NW of my (old) playdough factory location.
