The new quest line fast fowarded through a pretty long story line. Maybe I already had everything that was to be awarded?
Yeah, I think the first part of it was included in a prior quest.

I haven’t been able to log on since 6:00 this morning.
So far, I like this new storyline, I hope to return to it soon. I thought the last one was a drag.

In case you missed it, Road To Riches is back. Cecil Terwilliger has very expensive jobs which go towards building the Beloved Billionaire’s Club. Total cost is like $2 Billion.
Click on Daily Tasks (top right corner) and the cash icon to see your progress.
I rushed it. The building has a task once completed that allows you to build one gold road tile for $100M per day.
No need for me to rush. I won’t quite have 100 million left after spending the 2 billion.
I was getting bored building the three most expensive dollar things and selling them and then building them to burn up some cash. (popsicle tower, magnifying glass, escalator). A gold tile for 100m will at least at my igc. I don’t even tap my stuff for cash any more
Interesting update today. Anime-style mirror characters are being introduced.
And still no Dr. Wolfe, the dentist from Last Exit to Springfield. Am I the only one who loved this character?
Halloween started yesterday. It’s meh, but it’s new.
And all my friends are gone! I don’t really visit others’ towns any more but I sometimes click the friendship icon to “save” my town. Like if someone needs to go to the Simpsons’ house and they’re on the other side of town, if you go to “friends” and come back, they’re usually at their destination instead of slow walking across Springfield. They were there yesterday, i think, when I moved Lisa along a little faster for her 6s event starting task
My “friends” come and go randomly. Sometimes no one there, sometimes they’re all back. 
You were right; they’re all back.
Some people (me included) are having trouble getting into the game. I deleted and reinstalled and it worked for me, not for everyone.
I have to enter my age about every third time I try to get in.
