The Sims Bustin Out for Gamecube question

I’m not sure if this is MPSIMS or Cafe Society, but here it is- move if you will!

I bought this game (I’d rented it a lot last year and finally got around to buying it) and I’m trying hard to get the cheat codes I found online to work. Has anyone successfully done this? I’m referring to cheats like this:

http://www.acheatcodes.com/cheatcodes/site/search/9021/Game%20Cube/Sims%20Bustin’%20Out,%20The

"[Gnome Cheat] - Pause time, then Press Down, L, Z, R, Left, Right. A gnome should appear near the house that your Sim is at. Select it for 10,000 Simoleons. "

I mean, I don’t get it. You can’t pause time, first off. If you hit the “L” button, it pauses as long as you hold it, but there’s no pause button that you can toggle on and off (I don’t think). I’ve tried this combo a thousand times to no avail. It seems to be the key to getting all the other cheats to work, and I like my sims to live the good life and have all of the luxuries of life.

So can someone spell this out to me like I’m 5 years old or what?

Little help here? Anyone? Bueller?

Can I bump this just once? I did search with no luck, but I’m dying to get this to work for me. Anyone? Anyone?

While I don’t know the specific answer to your question, maybe GameFAQs can help?

I don’t have Bustin’ Out and so I’m just assuming that it’s the same as for the earlier console game, but the manual for The Sims (Game Cube) says Pause = Start button.

Hope this helps.

That might very well have helped- they show the code I’m trying to get working with a different step to it- perhaps I’ve been trying it incorrectly all along. Thanks!

That’s what I thought, too- but the start button goes into a “save game/options” mode on this particular game. You can stop gameplay that way, but it’s not really a pause. The only pause is if you hold the L button, as far as I can see.

So crazy, these cheat things! I just want lots of Sims money!

Don’t have the game. However, I did check the link you posted.

I guess it means you have to pause it in “bustin out mode”?
Whatever that means.
And you have to be at home.

Does that help?

It’s better suited for Cafe Society. I’ll move it for you.

Nope- I tried it and tried it. The thing is, there’s no “pause”. You are either in full play mode or in a menu options mode. You can only pause momentarily when you push one button and hold it. Crazy!
