"The sixteen minute dream period post death effect"

Hey dopey peeps,

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted, but it feels good to get caught back in The Straight Dope readin addiction. I’m looking to make my first short-film, and basing it off the premise of the enduring a dream-like-period after death for sixteen minutes. I don’t know if this is necessarily true, but it could work as an interesting story of fiction anyways. I heard this theory from the movie Waking Life by Richard Linklater (frequently casts Wiley Wiggins, directed Dazed and Confused), and I believe Ethan Hawke’s character, Jesse, utters this questioning bit of philosohpy. Anyone else heard about this before?

I have no idea where this thread belongs, myself, but seeing as you haven’t posted to MPSIMS about it yet, I’ll answer here and leave it up to the moderators to do what they like with the thread. I recommend reading Connie Willis’s Passage in regards to this topic. I really enjoyed the book, and it deals extensively with this topic.
