One more original episode for this season left and, to me, the biggest surprise will be if Paulie is still standing at the end of it.
Let’s discuss.
Paulie, that cocky prig. I hope he doesn’t get whacked, he’s the funniest character on the show! I know it’s not a comedy, but damn, he and Sivlio are like a couple of friggin cartoon characters!
I about fell off the couch laughing during the scene with Paulie and Silvio having a talk in Sil’s office. Silvio’s reaction to being called a fucking-worm-maggot-motherfucker (or something like that) was priceless.
Here’s to Paulie hangin’ around another season.
Salut!
I think it’s Johnny Sack that gets whacked. Tony’ll realize that he shouldn’t go after another boss. It’s bad karma. He’ll have Johnny killed just for bringing it up.
I missed last week-- what happened with the Raphie situation? Wasn’t Tony trying to pin his death on the NY family? Maybe killing Johnny will be the closure Tony needs on Ralphie’s “disappearance.”
Happy
Mr. Rilch and I were discussing AJ, and came to the conclusion that he is simply a waste of skin. He’s not street-smart or book-smart. I mean, Meadow twigged right away that Carmella is pining for Furio, but AJ only saw it in terms of his having been dragged to Furio’s house a few times. He’s a brat, not angst-ridden, and self-centered, even relative to being a fifteen-year-old guy. He can’t even brood good!
My bet is that AJ is whacked.
His friend a few episodes were “joking” about all the money that must be around the house. AJ is clueless…his murder will devistate the family that has only thought about Meadow…Tony will go ballistic and it will lead to…
(It also helps to know that the actor who plays AJ was in real life arrested recently for a hold up, and seems to be a real life pain in the ass. So I can well imagine doing him off might seem to be a good plot point. That said…the homophobia from mom, the new reading lesson from his teacher “Death In Venice” is a BIG sign of some Gay subplot…)
I never even entertained the thought that Sach was the one getting whacked next week. Intriguing, to say the least. Sach doesn’t drive a black SUV, does he? I thought I saw him pulling up in a car when he met Tony towards the end of last night’s episode.
Yes, AJ is a waste. “Meeting’s over”, though, was worth a chuckle or two.
I taped the show and want to watch the previews. It looks like AJ goes running up to Tony like he’s upset so it looks like something happens there.
They can’t end the Furio/Carm thing that way. BTW, a friend of mine in NJ emailed me about a year ago saying she was at the airport and saw them film a scene. At that time she said Tony and another guy gets into a helicopter and Tony punches a guy with a ponytail. Once I saw the helicopter, I knew that was it so I was expecting a fight when Furio grabbed Tony.
All I could think of during that scene on the helipad was “God, I hope David Chase isn’t going to try to out-do E.R.”
Tony drives a big black SUV, but we know it can’t be him…can it? AJ needs a good smacking around. Johnny Sack is playing everybody; Paulie caught on and now he’s got to try to get back into Tony’s good graces.
This episode had some nice comedic touches. I especially liked Tony’s reaction at the dinner with Meadow learning that her roommate wasn’t gay.
Tony drives a maroon (merlot? burgundy? red?) Suburban.
It was one of the better episodes of this season, although this season has been so-so at best, unfortunately.
Paulie is worse than a cocky prig, he’s a psycho murderer! Heh, Tony would fit that description as well, though. The smothering of Min for her money (which he then gave to Tony!) was awful.
I had some thoughts about Furio…what if Tony had a sudden realization about Furio and Carm? It seemed the next morning as if he didn’t remember what had happened, but when Furio almost pushed him into the tail rotor of the helocopter (shades of Romano on ER, btw! LOL), Tony was shaken by that and to me did not seem to fully accept Furio’s “explanation.” Could Tony have had Furio whacked? And made it seem that Furio had just returned to Italy?!
As to who might possibly be whacked in next week’s season finale, I’m leaning towards either Johnny Sack or Carmine–it sure looked like a crew that Tony has used in the past doing the shooting. Although I think those crews like that are for hire to just about anyone. Heh.
Don’t forget, btw, that the finale is supposed to be 75 minutes, rather than the usual 1 hour (or less…).

Hasn’t Paulie changed this season? Seems to me that last season he was less of a cocky-prig-psycho-murderer and more of a stooge (and comic character.) The great chase through the winter woods episode, for instance…
This season, we started with him in the slammer and feeling unloved and getting all psycho on account of it… It’s almost like this was a different Paulie from prior seasons.
I think Paulie is more desparate than psycho. He’s seeing doors close all around him and doesn’t know where to go or what to do next. It would not surprise me if, in next week’s ep, he takes himself out.
I don’t get what Johnny is up to. He’s definitely playing everyone.
What about Chris in rehab. What about Aid and the FBI? What about Junior’s trial and the real onset of senilty. It seems like they’re letting a lot of stuff dangle. What about Melfi and her breakdown over Tony leaving?
AJ coming out of the closet? Good call, DMark but probably not 'til next season.
I think that Johnny’s history and Paulie’s going to do the honors. Now that Paulie has figured out that Johnny’s playing him, he’s going to tell Tony what’s been going on (with a bit of spin.)

AJ doesn’t decorate tastefully enough to be gay.
On the other hand, during that whole conversation I turned to Ms. Undhow and suggested that David Chase make Meadow turn gay, even if only in the LUG sense. After all, she’s off at college, lesbianism isn’t frowned upon where she is now, she’s discovering who she is in life…
It’d be worth it just to hear the tirade from Tony. Although given Carmela’s behavior at the dinner, her tirade might be worse.
Only if they show a scene or two.
I watched the previews a few times. I think Meadow gets raped (They show her crying) and Tony’s crew is killing the perp. Maybe it’s her BF. Why bother introducing him this late into the season unless it plays into the finale? Chase doesn’t bring people in just for the sake of it.
The what sense?
LUG = Lesbian Until Graduation. The acronym refers to college women who become lesbian for awhile during their college years, but go back to heterosexuality upon entering the “real world.” IOW, they aren’t “real” lesbians – they’re just doing something to be radical/piss off their parents/take sexual experimentation to an extreme/establish themselves as “different”/etc etc etc.
Kind of like college students who are avowed communists while in school, but become moderate Democrats (or even Republicans!) shortly after graduation.
Paging Russian mobster from Pine Barrens, paging…
I see. Thank you.
Thanks. You beat me to it.
