My stone Piano. Finally got the video to work, sort of. Very frustrating this discourse thing.
Yup, the name comes from a misheard Who lyric while building the thing. Getting in Tune, to be specific.

How cool is that!
Thanks so much for showing us. It really is appreciated!
Yes. Tres cool!!
Having returned from a week in Astoria yesterday, we’re watching The Goonies right now (on TNT).
Up from naptime. Having a cheeseburger, fries, and and Old Fashioned for dinner. It is raining.
Unless you’re into avenging the sack of Lindisfarne in 793C.E.
You may have to change her nickname to “Jezebel”.
This.
I work at Brown, so the job is toss a box from a trailer onto a belt, toss it to another belt, toss it into a cage, and then heave it into a package car. UPS Motto: It’s only fragile once
Which reminds me of ‘neeps and tatties’, which reminds me I have a haggis in the freezer. Wifey, RN is going on a medical mission to El Salvador in December. I think I know what I’m going to eat while she’s gone. (I should probably take advantage of her absence, and make some liver and onions too one night.)
One of my neighbors (the one with the lab named Layla) has one of those on the walkway.
The guy at the UPS store just smiled and said that they get a lot of those.
Appendages crossed for continuing employment after the first of the year, VanGo.
Tres cool!
I would have sworn that John Matuszak, the actor who played ‘Sloth’ in The Goonies, died only fairly recently (like in the past ten or so years). He actually died in 1989 at the age of 38. I am feeling some temporal displacement.
Late night final all. The old Dodge is now officially sold, I will give Carmax it’s props, they were courteous, efficient, and fast and I now have a check to deposit tomorrow in the bank. Also need to stop at the license department and get my plate transferred and pay any immediate fees, and then GEICO to get the insurance worked out so I am not charged for the old car anymore. So Tuesday will be a fairly full day.
And a quick scroll to complete the night *talkative bunch today, nearly 70 posts):
VanGo, can’t believe they would let you go if there is any alternative, fingers crossed for you. And love the pebble-piano.
As one who makes 1-2 of those nightly, I stand (or squat) corrected…
swampy, good on ya and OYKW who helping out.
Cookie, sometimes stubborn family members need to hear it from someone else, glad niece was there to help.
JtC, Harry is my idea of the perfect neighbor; you folks lucked into him.
red, thanks for the explanation of the toe problem, concur that you don’t mess around with foot issues. And glad poop is shipped (with Brown of course).
nellie, nice display, neighbors up the street have a lighted display that’s pretty fancy (so was the price, I reckon).
So, two days in a row was the exact same thing?

And that’s it for tonight. Take care and I’ll catch up with y’all on 2sDay.
Ah, but do you have a poopervisor supervisor, who stares at you while you, ah, do your groovy thang?

 You’ll nevvver peeee alone
 You’ll nevvver peeee alone
Am I the only one who counted the o’s in spooky?
Tried again to wear the bifocal glasses tonight.
{ Gollum } We haytsdtset them, we do.
One more person tells me “Aww, you’ll get used to them” I’m gonna go “Hulk Smash”.. once I can flail around to find you.
I genuinely dislike bobbling my head like a pigeon, so I can see “UP!” oh now “DOWN!” through the weird lens.
That is delightful! Thank you!
Now I need to figure out how to convince my local Children’s Museum to put one in.
You should also cook yourself a beef tongue too, to complete the Triad Of What Shall Not Be Even Mentioned Much Less Consumed. My ex always did and then refused to tell me which pan he used when I came home. It’s the quiet ones you have to watch out for.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It rainy and 49 degrees Ferret Height(9.4 Centipedes).
Washed down with some Malört?
All the screens I use are up, so they are useless to me. I think bifocals are just a scam by Big Magnification.
Miss a day, miss 76 posts!
We already had trick or treat in our city on Saturday. We do not participate. However, we forgot to turn off our light for the first hour and no one showed up anyways.
I went to the dentist yesterday and he smoothed out the rough edges and said that I need to go to the other dentist for $4000 worth of crowns. Um, yeah, that will not be happening. If anything, I’ll have the teeth pulled. They’re both in the back of my mouth and so it won’t be a big deal to me to have that done.
I have an IEP meeting today and 2 or 3 more later this week. I am honestly getting very overwhelmed and concerned. I am doing my very best to do things correctly, but I keep making mistakes. Part of the issue is making mistakes and the other part is having to deal with the rude person who I mentioned before that is there to ‘help’ me. I don’t remember if I said this before, but I think that part of the issue is the lack of sleep thing. I have a hard time concentrating. And I just failed at the latest sleeping pill that she prescribed because I had a side effect of numb hands and feet. I went to Walmart last night and walking was very difficult because my toes were numb.
Well, anyways, I’m going to get to work here soon to make the corrections that she sent back to me yesterday.
Catch y’all later!
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 10c/50f with a predicted high of 13c/55f and cloudy. Weather app says “Cloudy as fuck.” Wlel, not really, I can see bits of blue out there. Enough to make a Dutchman a pair of trousers.
Fireworks are expensive, and here they can be quite hard to find. When I was a kid, every newsagent and corner shop sold fireworks but now we have far fewer outlets selling them. I suspect there may be some licensing issues involved. You can sell them without a licence, but only at certain times of year.
That means you’ve been very good people for a very long time! I think people forget that the folks who rely on Meals on Wheels also have pets who need food too, and having someone else to think about that is a Very Good Thing.
Brian probably found plenty of wildlife to munch on over the summer, now pickings are a bit more scarce and he’s looking for his winter home (and food provider).
That’s good news, it’s a shame she won’t listen to you but at least she will listen to someone!
This is a long-standing source of amusement in our house since I’m a Sassenach, and I live with a Weegie. He firmly refuses to believe that we can both be right when talking about neeps. He understands it’s the orange vegetable I call a swede, because we long ago stopped calling it a Swedish turnip.
I’m glad it was a quick and painless process, and your new car can now take up residence in the garage!
That’s understandable if you’re not used to doing them and it’s very bad that the other person is criticising things instead of providing proper support. I hope you can get through this without too much trauma.
Yesterday was an annoying day as I spent most of it doing things for other people instead of doing what I’d planned to do. My cold is progressing, I have a snotty nose and a horrible cough (the kind a 60-a-day smoker would be proud of) so I did not get a particularly good night’s sleep.
I made some food for today as I need to be on campus, collected all the recycling stuff and hauled that biiiiiig bin to the kerb for today’s collection. I tried to watch an episode of Riot Women but gave up halfway through as I couldn’t focus, so I gave the cats their treats and I went to bed.
Today I am up, sheveled and on campus. I had to print an extra copy of one of today’s test papers because we have a student who needs it on pink paper. It was hard to find any, it’s not a colour we normally have in stock so I’ll have to source some more before the next class test rolls around.
Our team manager is still off sick so we have no support again today. it’s also the postgraduate exam board meeting today so I’ve been asked to log into that one (they’re both on Zoom) in case the administrator needs support for anything. The opening session will be fine but the closing session starts half an hour into the language class tests so I’m hoping that nothing goes wrong anywhere because I really don’t have the energy to deal with drama today.
I have already told people I’m working at home for the rest of the week, it’s worn me out just dragging myself to campus.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN I was a slugabed until almost seven-thirty!
‘Tis 55 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 64 and cloudy. Today is laundry day. I suppose that’s as good a chore as any on a gray day. Also a good day for RDOS inactivities as is our wont. Sup will be chikin ‘n dumplin’s, green beans and corn. Borin’, but comfort food on an icky day.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions about foodstuffs to donate. I had not thought about baby formula. I am goin’ to ask NIN about dry pet food as well. I don’t know if they deal with that, but if they don’t I am sure I can find another place that does.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Tuesday Y’all!
Funny how that goes - we dealt with similar stuff with MIL. Maybe some people just need confirmation from another source??
That’s the problem I have. I plan to do 2 birds again this year - one roasted and one smoked - and I’ll freeze meal-sized packages. Trying to find 10-12# birds is a challenge here.
Speaking of - a local organic food place was advertising fresh, free-range turkeys for $7.99/lb!!! Needless to say, I’ll be waiting for Food Lion’s 39¢/lb when you spend $35 (or whatever the deal will be this year.) I can’t imagine fresh, free-range tasting that much better.

I’ve been wearing progressive trifocals for many years and it didn’t take long to get used to them. What’s weird is on the occasions when I’d not be wearing them, I’d find myself moving my head trying to find focus. It doesn’t work without the specs.
It doesn’t work without the specs.
Otis is back to his usual self - trying to use my arms as chew toys. Today will be interesting as the crew is coming to do the landscaping. Part of the agreement is that I let them use the indoor plumbing - otherwise I’d have been charged for a porta-potty. When I signed the contract, we didn’t have Otis. I don’t want to worry about the idiot dog hurting one of them or (worse) getting past them at the gate and taking off. So I’ll ask them to come in thru the garage and I’ll let them into the kitchen so they can go downstairs to the terlit. The original plan was for them to come in thru the basement, but that won’t work if the dog is outside. Here’s hoping they don’t need the terlit a whole lot…
I assume at least some of us remember the group The Cowsills - I think they might have been the inspiration for The Partridge Family. Anyway, their song Indian Lake has been running thru my head on endless loop, specifically the line “Indian Lake is the scene you should make with your little ones.” How dated is making the scene?? Old slang can be downright hilarious!

Showered, dressed, and waiting for the yard crew to show up. FCD will be heading to the marina to pick up the mast and get some more measurements for something. Our boat is out of the water and is or soon will be in the paint shed. Once the crew shows up and gets started, I’ll build a couple of meatloaves. Then most of my day will be spent keeping track of the dog if the worker(s) need the terlit.
Onward! Happy Tuesday!!
