The spooooookiest MMP

Facebook or Instagram? There’ll be an official adoption photo when we pick them up on Friday that I can share.

Seems like fall may actually stick this time. Just changed the bedding to the winter set. Still haven’t turned on the furnace. It’s not November yet, damn it!

The ratty girls are Pepper, mainly black, with white feets and belly, and Raclette, who’s pink eyed, mostly white but just tinged with brown on the top. Raclette is (being pink eyed) rather blind, she’s also more relaxed and would sell her soul for treats; Pepper is a jittery ball of energy, who’s more interested in exploring and keener on being friends, though her main purpose in life appears to be to collect all the tissue paper. It’s like some sleeper mode gets activated when she sees it.

Both are about 3 months old, so still pretty small.

I’m not sure what picture service I can use to share pics, as the UK gummint hath decreed that we can only see purple squares now. I don’t actually have that many pics yet either, because sitting still enough to be photographed is not in either of their skillsets.

Did a lunch trip with other geezers to a local Polish deli. The wife ordered a “grinder” and I swear is was a foot long and 5" in diameter (most of it meat/cheese). She managed to get through half of it, but I don’t know how. I was lucky to finish a bowl of soup. I went into their store and bought two of the biggest Italian sausages I’ve ever seen, a package of their Polish sausage, a chunk of pancetta (which I’ve not seen here in any grocery) and a half a loaf of caraway rye. Really looking forward to making carbonara with the Pancetta. The only downside to the outing was sitting in front of the biggest PITA in the building. The woman bitches about everything.

Back at home, Sadie was very concerned by the man hanging by ropes in the window. Cleaning, that is, not. . .you know.

A beautiful sunny fall day with most of the trees turned.

Mine luuuuurved Cheerios, so they’d sit for a moment (while “steering” their little treat wheel, so cute!) before darting off again.

Once I got a mini box of Apple Jacks (very sugary wheels a bit bigger than Cheerios) and I could probably have coaxed them into learning calculus in return for those.

A beautiful sunny fall day with most of the trees turned.

Same here.

meeting 2 went well last night. all participants attended. we checked out one elevator, the screen was way too small, 5x7, and wasn’t on. we decided to go to my office building and check out that screen. the screen is 8x10 ish and working so they got a good idea of how that looks.

today i interviewed the person who does the slides for the screen and saw how she uploads the info. sent that info to the communication people in my building.

on to meeting 3 tonight. it is a zoom meeting so i will be able to do other stuff in my flat during the listening parts. just have to be sure i can quickly unmute if i need to talk. nearly there!

Sadie thinks I have too much screen time.

Glad things are progressing.

That’s my favorite too! And I love the follow up.

IME, hoodies are small pet gold, nut.

It hit us down here today too. It didn’t get above 70F.

I’m envious!

It’s been a productive day. I came home from the doctor’s office with a topical treatment for the toe and a 'scrip for antibiotics. She went ahead and did a complete foot check on both feet / legs, so that’s out of the way now. She’s also giving me a referral to the podiatrist for a therapeutic toenail trim.

Once home, I put the veggie trimmings in the freezer in the pot to make broth. By the time I turned it off to go to the pharmacy, it was smelling heavenly (lots of onion skin / trimmings and cilantro stems in this batch. Should be a good base for Mexican, Thai or Indian dishes). I shut it off long enough to nip down to CVS. Once there, I went ahead and had them transfer all of my prescriptions to their location and got jabbed for flu and covid. When I came back, I took Nelson out, finished simmering the broth and put together an indoor clothes drying rack. I’ve found that my heavier clothing takes forever to get completely dry (portable dryer running on 110), so this will take up the slack. The veggie broth is now in the freezer and supper is et. Now for chillage.

Fret not! I’m alive. Long day of mostly driving, second longest part was listening to Mom’s almost unbroken monologue. That woman can talk!! But all things considered, she’s doing very well. But she looks old - heck she is old. Since I don’t see her as often as my sibs do, I guess I noticed it more.

I think she’ll enjoy the food I sent - she was going to have pulled poke tonight.

Traffic was sucktastic both ways for various reasons. Reason, unknown, tho, for what everyone slowed to 20MPH in the tunnel. Probably someone freaked out and slowed down, and the rest of us had to go slow…

Anyway, time to read what I didn’t read this morning.

It’s outside the yard. He’s kept inside the yard or on a leash - so I doubt he’ll do much digging… It was dark when I got back home, so I’ll see what it looks like tomorrow.

Hope all had a Happy Wednesday!

Howdy Y’all! Another gray day and day of RDOS inactivities here. Royal we have been watchin’ our British royalty programs on tubi off and on. OYKW told me that he is plannin’ on havin’ another orgy while I am at diocesan convention next week. I told him that’s fine as long as he changes the sheets before I get home next Sattidy.

Cookie indeed Sadie looks like she is judgin’ you for the amount of your screen time.

red I enjoy makin’ a good broth or stock, especially a veggie one.

MOOOOOOM glad you enjoyed the visit with your mom. I am sure the food is muchly appreciated.

We picked up Findus. CatMom let him out of the carrier, and he came right up on the coffee table to sniff at Goo, who was on the couch. Goo sniffed back, and then decided to hiss. This didn’t seem to faze Findus, so Goo hissed again. Findus sauntered behind the couch and hasn’t been seen since.

We tried to lure Findus out with some gooshy fud, but he wasn’t buyin’ it. Goo went over and tried to eat it for her, so I put on the kitchen counter and covered it with a paper towel. Things seemed OK until Goo came walking by, licking her chops. Yep, she ate Findus’s gooshy fud. We pulled out the (heavy) couch, and CatMom captured the new arrival. She took him to her bedroom, where therein sits a water bowl, a bowl of dry food, a litter box, a new cat bed, and a blanket that the foster mom gave us that had the scent of ‘home’ on it.

That is one judge-y face.

Hungry children don’t learn well. At least they get lunches. Sigh.

I’ve read all the suggestions and have stolen a few. Monday I’ll be leaving a box of mac n’ cheese cups and pop tarts at the public library that is attached to the high school.

That sounds pretty scary, I hope things get resolved soon.

I want to chime in with sympathy, that sounded horrible and I’m sorry it happened to you. I tend to have a live and let live attitude about wasps, they are important pollinators after all, but sometimes ya just gotta stand your ground.

Do your wasps die in the winter or will your shed be warm enough for them to survive?

At least the process is starting, this has to be so very frustrating for you and everyone in your position.

Be sure to get good helmets and wear gloves while racing around on your e-bikes. There’s a lot of gravel out there.

Does Flikr work?

Imgur

George survived that viscous attack.

How funny. Sounds very cat like "the heck with the toys, I want the box”.

She’s probably right. It’s all bad news anyhow.

Ten years ago, a co-worker gave me a lovely knitted, wool sweater. I bought a drying rack for the sweater. I never knew how much I needed one until I had it, I use it all the time.

Of course, if I had a bit of clothesline strung under the carport, I’d use that for our thick comforters but somebody thinks it would look too redneck.

That sounds like a great start, I hope it continues.

Do you have any handy churu’s? Those might help break the ice.

So its been raining all day which is lovely. There are cardinals that live in the forest behind the spite house and they know that they can find seed in front of my french doors. Jolene likes to creep up and chitter at them.

GG still doesn’t really know how to cat. He’ll belly crawl over with his tail sticking straight up in the air and start vibrating and fluffing, but he doesn’t fluff all over, he just has wild tufts of fur sticking up randomly. Once the vibrations get really going, he will start huffing in time. It never fails to crack me up.

Besides that, stitching ruled the day. One of Hub’s family members asked me to make an Angel for the church tree top and had a specific pattern he wanted used. (cross stitch, but I can work with that) Happily, he doesn’t expect it for this Christmas, it has a lot of sparkly (fragile and easily tangled) threads and beading so it will take time and good light.

That’s pretty much all from here and I should probably go through my email inbox. I try to do that a couple of times a day now that I’m starting all over.

We need pics!

Good! You’re neighborhood is likely like mine, a mix of folks who have enough and those who are barely scraping by, so I’m sure that it will be appreciated.

We need to see him! I built a kitty excluder for CatMom’s bed a couple/few years ago to keep Abbey from hiding under it. Findus is so small (about 4 months, and a runt) that he may have found a way to get in there.

Goo is on the back of the couch, happy to be with ‘dad’. She often lays up there of an evening. I think Abbey is in the catio with CatMom. Abbey likes sleeping in the catio.

CatMom (aka SWMBO) says we’ll need to take apart the kitty excluder. If Findus is hiding in it, it needs to be taken apart so he’s at least accessible.

DMTA, shoe.

And Monkey looks so precious with his doppelgangers! Thanks for sharing the pic!

Also Sadie, cookie. What a beauty she is. She definitely enjoys her status as a human wrangler.

Me, too! And your veggie broth sounds lucious!

Thank you for your kind thoughts.

I am torn about wasp control, because as you say, they are important pollinators, so my compromise is this: I use an eco-friendly pest control service. Wasps are safe on my property so long as they don’t encroach in areas I must maintain. But if they interfere with property maintenance, well, sorry, I’m going to dislodge them one way or another. We have one university in my area that’s always interested in studying wasp behaviors, so if I come across a paper nest, I’ll call one of the people who will come and take the nest away in the middle of the night. They’re not interested in ground nests, though.

I don’t think these are ground wasps. They don’t look like any wasps that have previously attacked me. I was able to kill the two that came into the house with me. One was squished while tangled in my hair, but I sprayed the other one until it was dead. Hopefully the pest control company can identify them.

The winters are too cold here for them to overwinter successfully. A few more weeks and they’ll be dead whether I help them out with that destiny or not. But I need access to my wood shed before then, so the pest control service will take care of it tomorrow.

Adorable pic of GG and Jolene, by the way. They both look tremendously healthy!

Congrats on the new family member, fly boy!

Up from naptime, dinner tonight was chicken with cavatappi, cheesy broccoli, and a martini.

Crib?

I hope we see him soon.

Evening all and time for the late night final. Rain was on and off all day so soccer practice got cancelled so spent some extra time at the gym, so I could eat a little more without too much guilt… Have to referee two games tomorrow as the tournament is starting Thursday evening as Friday is being given over to Halloween. Then Saturday and Sunday and the fall season will be done.

Now to wend my way through nearly 30 messages…

Taters, glad you got your CSR number, did you get a list of one-time code numbers to enter when you log in? (I have them, they renew the list when you use them all). As for travel, I’m part of a group that goes places that you might like (we’re cruising the Spanish and French coasts in April 2026) and some of the women in the gorup might need roommates now and then.

Bright Tree, glad you are healing up, and gladder that they didn’t the eye itself, which would have been a very bad thing.

shoe, love the pic, what does Monkey think about it?

Nut, hopefully they make some sort of playpen for small animals that you can get.

Dicey, that is a great follow-up, but nothing beats the original, IMHO.

Cookie, that deli sounds like a keeper. The PITA lady…not so much… And Sadie is a beautiful lady.

rocky, sounds like the meetings are keeping you occupied. Hope you get good results from them.

red, hope the feet heal up good.

FCM, glad to hear your Mom is doing ok, I remember meeting her the one time I visited your place, she at least had the ability then to be an interesting conversationist.

Flyboy, Findus is a pretty unigue name, I like it; hopefully Goo will too.

JtC, you folks convinced me, I have a letter to mail tomorrow to local charity (Downtown Rescue Mission) for Thanksgiving meals (checked them out, they are legit).

ANd after 10pm so need to head off to dreamland. Take care all, catch you on Thorsday.
