When I do voice to text, sometimes it repeats it for some reason. I usually check but sometimes it gets by me.
SenBoy’s class is camping tonight in 5°C (41°F) weather. He was worried about staying warm enough. It is supposed to rain as well. Not as much fun as you can imagine.
I’ve got so many things to do! I want to borrow a few days to get caught up.
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 6c/43f with a predicted high of 12c/54f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “Oh, fucking come on. It’s so fucking boring outside. Even the fucking clouds are bored.”
Sticky Buns I’m glad to hear the docs don’t think you have a serious problem but I hope they keep monitoring things in case of any changes.
Good to hear that things are finally moving for you, but I am sorry the numbers you got were not what you hoped for. Fingers crossed everything will be fixed for you soon. It’s a shame that your husband isn’t so interested in travel now, but maybe if he sees you planning something fun, he might change his mind.
Either would be good, it’s only one picture service that has had an argument with the UK about online privacy so far
As far as I can tell, it’s only Imgur that we can’t see because they failed to comply with our laws on children’s data and online privacy. I used to put all my pics on Fotki but I stopped doing that when I could get them all on Farcebook and share them that way. I’ve recently gone back to Fotki since I pay a subscription there so I might as well use it.
Sounds like a very good day out, apart from the PITA. Glad you managed not to punch her in the throat!
That’s very good news. Will she be having some help at home, or some PT to get her a bit more mobile?
Happy Gotcha Day to Findus! I’ve always found it best to keep the new arrival(s) separate from the resident cat(s) for a few days so that the newbies can get settled, and the residents can get used to the smell of a new friend. Blossom and Cherry spent at least two weeks hiding under the bed, and then another week downstairs hiding behind the sofa. Muffin hid in the bookcase for ages, so it seems quite natural behaviour for cats! I am sure Findus will come out for food
Nothing much to report today, I managed to survive a day of irk yesterday but it was mainly sorting out problems for other people. I logged out and went to lay on the sofa for a while managed to scrape something together for dinner although I wasn’t really bothered about it, made sure the cats were fed, and went to bed. I did manage to sleep on and off, the cough is persistent and now very painful. But I am up and I’ve got a cup of tea.
Today I should be able to do a bit of work, and tonight we’re supposed to be seeing a band in a venue that’s a half-hour drive from home. If it was just me, I wouldn’t bother. But I suspect ‘im indoors will have a major sulk if I say I don’t want to go He can get there by public transport but he wouldn’t be able to get home again. Oh well, I’ll have to see how I feel later in the day.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 48 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 61 and cloudy. We shall be bears who brunch at Eggs Up. The plan is to go to the church house so I can take care of candle duty, eat, and then go shop for foodstuffs at Wally*World:open_mouth:. I have a list of stuff to buy thanks mostly to suggestions from Mumpers. I called NIN to ascertain when someone would be there. We will be able to drop it off there afterwards. So all that will take up the mornin’. We can then be bears who are RDOS the rest of the day.
FlyBoy I am sure Findus will adapt to his new digs in the next couple of weeks. He will then walk around like he owns the place.
Now I need more caffeine and some toast as I must needs eat sump’n so I can take meds. Then purtification shall commence.
What is it with some men and hatred for clotheslines?? Would it help to call them solar dryers? OK, that doesn’t work in a carport, but still, it’s the ecologically kind way to dry clothes!
Tho, to be honest, my clothesline deck is going away. We got 2 estimates to repair it - both in the $15K neighborhood. Were we younger, we’d be able to repair it ourselves, but I think we’ve crossed the threshold where certain chores are contracted or left undone. FCD will wield his chainsaw and daughter and SIL will help load the pieces into the truck for a trip to the dump. Dammit.
I find it interesting that she can actually converse with others while I’m pretty much treated to a monologue. It’s an interesting dynamic.
Ziva has lived here since early 2009. She still spends more time under the bed than anywhere else. Cats is weird.
She’ll get PT at home up to 3 times a week. A therapist was supposed to come at 3 yesterday, but when I left just before 4, she hadn’t shown up, so who knows?? While I was there, she did walk around a few times (with her walker) so she is moving, but the doctors said it would be months before she’s back to some semblance of normal.
Slept with Generic Ben last night - my arms have started itching again and the antihistamine helps calm it. For the life of me, I can’t figure out what’s going on. It’s not poison ivy and it’s too widespread for bug bites. There are some little bumps. The odd thing is that it’s confined to the forearms that were covered by my long garden gloves. I’d worn them before with no reaction. I dunno - I’ll toss them in the washer.
I woke to the sound of rain, and with luck, at some point it’ll stop so I can have a look at the landscaping. When I drove by last night, my headlights showed lots of empty areas, so I want to compare it to the plan. There looks like a good bit of space for the lilies and iris I dug up, I think. Like I said, I barely saw any of it.
I also need to contact Jason about paying the balance. And he was supposed to provide care instructions. I guess that’s part of today’s plans.
I watch the Daily Show, and sometimes I get a snippet of another show that follows on the Comedy Channel. Once, it was Beavis and Butthead, and one of the two dolts discovered he had a nut allergy, and his face swelled up. The doc at the ER explained it to him, saying he would have to avoid nuts for the rest of his life, and he misunderstood “nut”, thinking the doc was talking about orgasms. That’s what came to mind when I read about Bright Tree’s encounter with the wasps.
I made sure we weren’t sitting with her either in the restaurant or on the way back. I’ve dealt with her before; she doesn’t like being contradicted and I love to out a moron.
meeting 3 went well. i just needed to be close to the ipad to unmute when my time to report came along.
in keeping with my “make better, not perfect” campaign, while listening to the meeting, i taped the wall i need to paint next. i decided to just tape as high as i could without getting out the wee ladder. i’ll get out the wee ladder when i am going to paint. because i needed to move a piece of furniture out to get to the wall, i was able to fix a light strand to the mirror. that has been waiting for me to do for about 6 weeks since i bought it.
it looks sooooo good and sparks such joy. i got all that done before the meeting ended.
today is the office halloween party. i am in my os star trek pajamas. once again i have found a way to wear my pjs in the office! of course being they are star trek there are no pockets in the bottoms. i am wearing a non regulation fleece vest so i have a pocket for the door card. i don’t have the proper boots, so i am wearing black shoes with glow in the dark skeleton socks.
johnny la, congrats on the little one, i hope he becomes “found’em” soon.
chefguy, sadie is sooooo gorgeous!
fcm i’m glad you had a good visit. i think your mom has so much to tell you, she just needs to get it all out.
I hope it doesn’t take that long! When he went into hiding in CatMom’s room, she shut him in. Both cats spend time there during the day. Sometimes Abbey and/or Goo will sleep with CatMom. Abbey wants in, but she’s not insistent about it. She likes hanging out in the catio. After their initial encounter, goo seems indifferent. She’s asleep, over my shoulder on my work station (couch).
We were told Fundus gets along with bigger cats. I hope FosterMom is right.
It’s 37°F, dark, and mostly cloudy. It’ll remain cloudy today, with a daytime high around 56°F.
I loved the kitty pics.
I did laundry yesterday and cleaned up the branches and leaves in the backyard. I’ll probably rollsuck today, and maybe work on another clothing donation bag.
Flyboy, hope you find the newest addition soon!
FCM, my mother is non-stop talking, too. I can empathize.
Metal Mouse, I received a one-time passcode, and the next day, I received the CSR number. I use Login.gov and a different MFA method.
BooFae, the interim annuity represents 60-80% of what my actual annuity will be. I had run projections before I ever decided to retire, so I knew it wouldn’t be a grand sum. Had I stayed as long as I originally planned, it would have been quite a bit more. And, this is just one portion of my retirement income. It’ll all work out.
It looks like Saturday is a 100% chance of rain, so I’m sure my friend will cancel mushroom foraging again. It won’t bother me if she does; I have other things I can do.
Arlighty, time for more coffee. You all take care!
Good morning all. Up about 6am to micturate and then back to bed until 8am, so I should be well-rested for whatever the day brings. Which is no more rain but lots of clouds and 56F for the high, so I’m living in Central England like boo fae, I guess. I thought I needed to make an appointment with my Drs. office this morning to get my prescriptions renewed but had a message from the pharmacy that they’re being processed and will be ready Sunday, so that’s one job crossed out. Am washing my soccer referee uniforms this morning, will be doing 4-7 games today and this weekend and they were a bit stained. Almost seems a waste to do a load for 3 items, but one must look one’s best while refereeing…
I will never understand my bladder. Wednesday early morning I had to go three times before I got up, had pretty much the same amount of fluid intake and exercise during the day, and only one visit before waking up today…it is a puzzlement.
Taters, just looked and my CSRS check got deposited. Wasn’t too worried, it is all automatic and computerized but with the shutdown, it was nice to see it in the bank. And it sounds like the Weather Wizards are foiling your plans for mushroom hunting; have a great weekend anyway.
Feel better soon, boo fae; I’ll be out in the weather this evening refereeing and hoping I don’t end up with the same cough and listless feeling.
swampy, you reminded me I need to get my November shopping list together for Firday so will be spending some time browsing the digital coupons at the Kroger site.
FCM, I can remember hanging clothes outside for my Mom in my teens, but never since then, to the best of my recollection. My fond farewell to your unique piece of history.
Knots, I have successfully avoided Beavis and Butthead until now and hope to continue doing so. But the nut story was interesting…
rocky, good on your multi-tasking. And love the idea of Star Trek PJ’s, even if I never wear PJ’s.
flyboy, interesting series, I don’t do children’s books but looking at that page there seems to be quite an assortment of reading matter for the littles. I rather like the title Dragons Love Farts for one book; that will attract the kids, I bet!!
red, have a good day out.
And that should do it for the morning report. Need to check the laundry and do a couple other chores (preventive maintenance on my hearing aids and clean the stovetop). Take care all and have a good Thorsday.
41F - Another nice day, but with clouds and rain on the way. Temps won’t break 50F today. The road repair project is undergoing some sort of work with the underground utilities. Not my specialty, so no idea what they’re doing.
This morning we got to try out the caraway rye bread I bought at the Polish deli. Really good. I love a good Jewish rye, and this is a welcome relief from most of the bread I’ve found here in the Midwest, which is usually bland. I miss our neighborhood bakery in Portland.
I had to drop some bad news on my kids. We’ve been writing gift checks for all of them the past couple of years and also supporting college costs. Last year several of them came back for additional funds, so this year: no checks. I can afford to do it, but I don’t wish to be taken for granted as a personal ATM. Consequences and all that.
I finally ‘grew a pair’ and told the wife that I really don’t enjoy classical music concerts. The seats are uncomfortable and much of the music is forgettable. Also of late, she has been cancelling on events that we have purchased tickets for, which is just a waste of money. So she got tickets for herself, with me acting as taxi. Fine with me, but then this morning she cancelled again. At least it’s only half as much.
Gotta make a grocery run for a few items either today or tomorrow. I’ll see how it goes.
I’m sat here waiting for the wasp removal person to turn up, so a good time to catch up with the MMP.
metal mouse, no argument from me! I’ve spent some time thinking about that and I should probably stop. It gives me the shudders.
And your bladder mystifies me, too. Crazy stuff re the disparity between intake and output. What does your urologist say about it?
Umm. Well, that would be a non-starter, swollen face or no.
Boo fae, I hope the cough goes away soon. You sound miserable. Surely 'im indoors will understand that it’s best for you to stay home and get better? I hope so. If not, well… have fun, at least! Sometimes we do what we must for the sake of household harmony.
swampy, happy shopping and delivering, then brunching! We don’t have an Eggs Up anywhere nearby, but I’m always curious about it when you mention it.
rocky, clever you for figuring out how to wear pajamas to work. I always dreamed of doing so, but I had to settle for mere comfy clothes. Those socks sound splendid!
fly boy, I’m sure Findus is going to join you all very soon. I know you appreciate the change is all pretty overwhelming for the little guy.
taters, I hope you somehow manage to get a session of mushroom foraging in. I haven’t gone hunting chanterelles for some years, but they are plentiful in the forest above my house. Or they used to be. Like you, I’m not comfortable to go without a buddy, and none of mine are interested. They are so delicious, though! (The mushrooms, not the buddies.)
red, enjoy your girls’ day out with your sis!
I will be cleaning floors today and may have a try at fixing my automatic gate. It crapped out a few weeks ago amid all the other household chaos with the water pipe, pond and new internet conduit installation and I haven’t had a chance to give it a good inspection to see if the fix is something simple (fuse replacement) or complex (armature replacement). It has worked flawlessly for the past 7 years, so I suspect it will be something complex. But I need to try my own repair efforts before contacting a professional. I do want it fixed before the weather turns nasty. The gate sits at the top of a hill that can be challenging to traverse if we have a heavy snowfall. And something tells me that is in store for this year.
Time to feed the Ollie monster. Hope everyone has a rewarding Thorsday!
Stupid rain is falling. My dr office has gotten me a scrip for Boost but pharmacies don’t fill it. So a medical company will ship it. Thats what my former mate used to get.
A church person took me to the store to get food but I can’t get a months worth as I use perishables; tomatos, lettuce, etc.so I picked out 38 dollars worth as I still have my mon-thurs church dinners.
I have an account at CVS and I can check on the status of scripts for FCD and for me (and for MIL when she was alive.) I can see the next time each will be filled or that I need to contact the Dr for refills. In fact, sometimes they’ll just contact the Dr and I get a text when they’re ready to be picked up. Very convenient.
The rain has stopped for a bit, so I got some pics of my new landscaping.
The corner:
Looking towards the back yard:
Looking up the hill:
I’ll add some daylilies and iris as well as liriope, and maybe a crape myrtle. Apologies to BooFae and Nut - but I’ll be posting them on FB too.
Earlier, FCD and I drove down to the marina to see the work in progress on our teak. Our boat looks especially huge in the paint shed! The handrails are being stripped in one shed and the Cetol (kiinda like varnish) is being applied in another, dust-free shed. They do good work.
FCD has gone to a local place that sells lots of really nice wood - they’ve got African Teak that he hopes to use to rebuild the swim platform that the guy behind us smashed. Tomorrow we may take a ride across the bay to a miscellaneous boat stuff store - the guy there gets old boats and disassembles them for salvageable parts to sell. We’re looking for a mast for a radar antenna. So it looks like laundry day will be bumped to Saturday.
Otis is outside - I’m getting a little peace and quiet. I’ll let him in when it starts raining again.
Back to work in an hour. Spent some serious quality time in my cocoon of blankets and pillows, but I did scratch the surface of a monumental stack of Things To Do, in addition to stuffing my face.
Just a quick note from the gym as I take a break after pedaling 334 calories away (or so says the pedaling machine). Will try the treadmill next and after that work on the weights for a bit. Came early so I can eat an early dinner before refereeing soccer at 6:30 and 7:30 tonight.
Have read all but will discuss it with you later when I’m done with my sweating.
I was on the 100 and 200 Slides, since the Senior Clerk was off. Except when I was helping the Blueberries on the 100 Table or the Blueberries loading on the 100 South Boxline. There was some excitement in the Irreg dept, the water heater directly above the irreg computer broke and wet a bunch of stuff. No word on the PC. I did my Senior Day shopping after I got out at 11:30. Teeter was packed with old people. Now it’s time for soup and a nap.
Well, when I lived in da Hood, they had clotheslines. I think I was about the only person to use 'em, though.
But Beavis and Butthead was part of the Golden Age of TV animation!
