The Spring Break Beach Party MMP

Mom is here. Add to the list of irritating traits “after being told to get off the car so I can part closer to the column, stands right in my path - repeatedly.” That garage is big enough to play full-team football in, woman, gerrofftheway!

I’m considering hitting her over the head every time she refers to my home as “the house in the mountains”. If she mentions selling it in order to buy her a beach home, she gets hit thrice.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. ‘Tis 59 Amurrkin out right now with a predicted high of 71. I think it may be windy as well. This makes choosin’ an ensemble for irk difficult. 'Tween seasons are so weird.

Nava try leavin’ nursin’ home brochures around where your mother can see them. Make little notes in the margins. Stuff like, “yeah, she could get by on 10 meals a week”, “OOOH! This one’s clear across country, double plus good!”, or “only allows visitors Christmas and Easter”. Maybe she’ll get the hint.

That’s still awesome Annie!

Ok, I need me some more caffiene and rumbly tummy demands to be fed. Then irk purtification must commence.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Happy Tuesday all. I’m up and caffeinating - day two of the week, three more after today!

My rumbly tummy was soothed by a bowl of mini-wheats! I’ve also taken all my meds - this is a new thing; usually I just take my diabetes med first thing with brekkie, but now I’m taking the rest of the meds just after brekkie (helps me to remember taking them!). Argh, I can’t recall what all I wanted to commentate on although there is entirely too much talk of food in the MMP threads! Rosie’s .sig to all.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable day.

I may have been a little off with the “and a beach” thing. I don’t have my own beach.

“Access to many beaches (in the area where I live)” would be more fitting.

My apologies.

Blurf.

Carry on.

No matter. It’s your beach if it’s near you.

Sleepy. Donwanna. Maybe I’ll go frolic on Lab’s beach with StG’s dogs instead of going to work?

Hugs…

GT

That works. Besides, my best friend is buying a jeep, so we can haul everybody and everything, and everydog.

Up, caffeinated, off to irk on my day off. At least there is hockey tonight.

Hah! That’s a good idea. Unfortunately, it wouldn’t work for me. When Mom and I were talking on Sunday, she pointed out (jokingly) that she doesn’t have to be nice to me since I won’t be picking out her nursing home. (They’re in a tri-level retirement community where, right now, they’re just in 55+ cottages, but then there’s assisted living, nursing home care, and memory care all on the same campus so they’re taken care of for the rest of their lives.) So I can’t threaten my parents with that. It’s worth a try for **Nava **though!

I tried out skate skiing with a coworker/friend last night. That’s hard work! I took a hot bath after I got home so I avoided the worst of the muscle soreness, but I’m still tired today. It was beautiful out though as darkness fell while we were out with that lovely deep blue ski and just one planet sparkling and the trees silhouetted against the blue. I love being outdoors in the winter.

I made ravioli with artichoke sauce last night. That’s a nice, easy recipe and is tasty when it’s done. I cut back on the half-and-half a bit but it was still pretty creamy. Good stuff.

Tonght’s going to be a Mexican-inspired beef stew. It’s in the crock pot now.

Retirement homes here don’t bother with brochures, plus the reason I currently owe Mommy Dearest “nothing at all” and will likely continue to do so is that she’s financially independent - or would be if she stopped throwing money away. If she pisses me off enough I may leave the report from the lawyer around, though. I’m making a point of rephrasing some of the things she says: “it’s a pity you don’t know when will we be able to go on vacation!” “Actually, it’s a pity I don’t know when will I be able to go on vacation.” No, Mom, you’re not fucking invited! I still remember our last trip together and HELL NO and I’ve got the Brothers’ backing on that, so fuck OFF!

The woman plays dirty, doesn’t keep her word and uses the self-inflicted runs to sabotage other people’s vacations. I would rather not have vacation than let her spoil Rome, Canada or Lisbon for me  Hm… now that I think about it… wonder if I should join The Biggest Sheep Herd Ever over Easter; she has a fit every time I mention going to Israel, doesn’t want to go there at all. Baaaah

Speaking of The Runs, one of the offerings in today’s menu was “grey meat in beige sauce”. Yeah, the kind which according to the investigation did not give the runs to several hundred people. U-hu. I didn’t see a single person choose that dish, gee wonnnnnder why!

I’m off work today to take Dad to the doctor. This is a different doctor for a different issue. His PCP doesn’t want to treat him for this issue, so he has to see a specialist.

About to go purtify for it.

Today’s weather is absolutely fan-damn-tastic! Low of 59°, high of 72° - low humidity. Perfect! Maybe after the doctor, I’ll go buy some flowers for my wine cask planter.

Happy Anniversary to me!

It’s seven years to the day I started at this job. I left the ‘private sector’ of the school bus world to join the world of public school district administration.

Longest I’ve ever held a single job, what with all the upward hopping I’d done most of my life.

Forget Israel and the sheep. You should take her to the next running of the bulls, and make sure she’s out in the street.

Swampykins, I just love you to pieces - that’s just all there is to it. That is the BEST single idea I have ever seen on the interwebs!
Nava and Tax, my sympathies. I know that dads can be shits now and then too but having had a few mothers in my day I know why the word-of-curse singles them out for special attention.

Howdy Y’all! It’s so nice to have my evil genyous validated.

I am at irk mannin’ the front desk for a while and playin’ around. Sometimes irk is more entertainin’ than other times. I suppose I should fool with some of this paperirk but I don’t wanna!!

Nava, I am amazed that you haven’t killed her yet.

Oof. Tired. Grumpy. In pain. House is messy and I donwanna clean it. Mr. Lissar gone tonight again at the dojo. I am filled with self-pity because of playing trains for approximately a million hours. Going to go lie down.

New!! Two LOLs!!

I don’t actually have problems with my mom. She just jokes about me not being able to pick out her nursing home.

I keep running into data issues today. It’s really making me not want to work any more today.

AMVETS is coming tomorrow, so yay. Apparently they had a truck breakdown. Glad we didn’t bring the stuff in. **FCD **and I went to the Credit Union today to get the loan for the car - the check is now in UPS’ hands and the dealer should get it tomorrow. They’ll finish the registration processing and soon we’ll have new tags.

Meanwhile, I need to start making supper. I’m going to slice up the turkey we had last week and warm it up in some gravy. I bought a whomp can of crescent rolls and a weensy head of cabbage, and I think I’ll make some corn to go with it all. After I feed the zoo. Always gotta feed them first…

Home. Tahrd. Dindin et. Pronouns gone. Early nitey-nite ensues.

I was outside planting some flowers in my wine barrel planter in my front yard.

When I first started gathering materials, like potting soil, my little potting stool and stuff, all the dogs ran outside and happened to scare the daylights out of this little boy and his little sister who just got off the schoolbus. I walked over to their corner across the street, and had them meet Lucy. She’s the biggest, but she’s the sweetest. They patted her, and I got all the dogs back inside the house.

So I start planting the flowers, and I notice those kids just kinda hanging around. Fifteen minutes, twenty minutes go by. I finally asked them if they shouldn’t be getting home?

They said something about there was a mixup and the schoolbus brought them to their bus stop but they were supposed to be picked up by someone…or something. I wasn’t very clear on that.

I offered them my phone, and they got hold of their mom. I let them split a 7-Up, and them mom came and picked them up about 10 minutes later. She looked worried, and grateful.

Yay for flowers!

Never mind those weeds in the flowerbed!
