The Spring Break Beach Party MMP

Wow. Read this blog entry today and it was so awesome that I had to stop by and share it.

Good for you, Rebo, and Scones, thanks for the link. It was spot-on.

This weekend I stopped to look at a lonely grave in the middle of a field near my house. Pvt Andrew Carnahan, 1762-1836 North Carolina Militia, Rev War. No other graves around, just him. Makes you wonder, doesn’t it? Just by Googling his name, I was able to to find out an amazing amount about him, all because he applied for a Revolutionary War pension when he was 70. He got $44.66 per year. He lived in my county from the time he was about 38. The odd thing is, there are lots of family cemeteries around, but just a love grave seems weird. He had a family with five kids, and married a 2nd time after his first wife died. That he wasn’t planted with them seems odd.

Wow, that’s fascinating, StG.

Thanks for the blog link, too, Sticky. (Hope things are well with you, by the way.)

Good job, Rebo.

That ravioli recipe sounds yummy, taxi. It’s vegetarian, by the way,** LiLi**.

Happy work anniversary, MBG!

Long, not-as-productive-as-I-was-hoping, day. Too many meetings tomorrow. Arghhhh.

Am going to knit for a while now.

Hugs all.

GT

I ducked out early for sushi, them went to hockey. Tomorrow is more work, then the Booster Club meeting.

StG., there’s a small cemetery between the football stadium and hockey arena in Raleigh. I’ve never bothered to check it out, though.

Congratulations on the long staying-put, Mr Bus Guy
I ain’t killed Mom yet cos there ain’t no interwebz in prison, LiLi. Plus there’s the whole Commandments thing, but well… He had a Mom too - and we know she did force His hand at least once. I was laughing my ass off very quietly a couple of years ago, when the priest made his sermon on the wedding at Cana about “hey look, His mom got Him in trouble and made Him do things He hadn’t been planning to do, too! Moms sure do that a lot”. The mothers in the audience were shooting daggers and sabers at him.
Bobbio, appreciate the feeling, but we’ve been to runnings of different horned animals many times and not only does she already make sure to be on the outside of the fence, there’s all these cops, firemen and EMT who insist in kicking anybody who looks “unfit to run” out of the fenced-in area. I’m reasonably sure a 70yo woman with a Santa belly would be deemed unfit to run.
Scones, love the blog entry.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN Looks to be another wunnerful low 70s Amurrkin day here in swampland.

Congrats BusDude!

Yay for good deed Rebo!

Loved the blog entry StickyBuns. Like LiLi said, spot on!

I need to find more caffiene STAT and feed rumbly tummy. Don’t wanna today, but irk purtification and irk must commence. The weather makes me want to stay home. Alas, bills must be paid.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Morning all! I’m up and caffeinating and have already had eggs and cheesy grits, which were delish. My sympathies to those with “Mom” problems - except I only wish I still had them. I miss my Mom still, as irritating as she could be, and she passed away in 2003.

This whole Charlie Sheen trainwreck has thrown me for a loop, for some reason. It’s made me angry but at the same time empathetic–it does seem as if he is bi-polar. I have been looking away as much as possible, but omg, it is hard to overcome the compulsion to watch. :frowning:

To echo Swampy, happy Hump Day - after today it’s just two more days to the weekend!

Forgot to tell you to hang in there, Nava.

Up - not awake enough.

Off to find caffeine.

Hugs.

GT

Up, caffeinated, off to irk.

Must. Find. Coffee.

Tea. Where’s tea?

Güiiiiiii ar de champion, mái fré-eeeeeen… and why, oh why, has my earworm-by-default been a mispronounced, off-key cover of “We are the champions” for months, I want to know!

I drank it. Sorry.

:stuck_out_tongue:

The off-key, badly pronounced earworm is funny, Nava.

So very much don’t feel like doing work today. Fortunately, I have an hour and a half meeting coming up so I don’t have to actually do anything for a while. And I’m taking Firday off just 'cause.

The VunderKind has hit the ripe old age of 23 today.

I’m so damned old…

I started today off with a very queasy stomach. I ate breakfast thinking it would help. It just made it worse. I was sitting in a coworker’s cube discussing a project, feeling worse by the minute, when I had to dash to the bathroom and throw up! AGGHH! I hate being sick, but especially so in the office. Thank goodness no one was in there. I’d have been mortified. I know, I know - it’s not my fault, blah, blah, blah… I still would have been embarrassed.

I felt better immediately, and two hours later I’ve eaten a yogurt.
Happy Birthday, VunderKind! You’re not old, Bobbio!

Happy 23rd VunderKind. Did you know your old man is also an old fart? :stuck_out_tongue:

Howdy Y’all from irk. Actually it hasn’t been to irky. Quiet even. So, I shall probably survive.

Sorry you got the sick at irk Rebo but glad you feel better now.

Nava it could be worse. Somebody could link to It’s a Small World.

Ok off to check a few other threads then get bzzy again.

Later Y’all!

Oh, forgot to say, I get dindin out tonight. YAY! I hear rumors of Steak 'n Shake which is fine by me.

I made Irish Breakfast tea. It was a tea-that-kicks-you-in-the-face kind of morning. When I bought it from the knowledgeable tea-seller I actually asked for tea that would be the equivalent of espresso. It’s great stuff.

I took Gnat to a hobby shop. I’ve never been to one before. Lord, they’re weird. And similar to gaming stores- mostly not women-friendly.

AMVETS came and took all the stuff off the porch, so YAY! I’ve got a load in the washer, the beginnings of beef-veg-noodle soup simmering, and, um, that’s about all so far.

**StG **- being in the county where the first MD settlers landed, we have many vintage gravestones. There’s an old Catholic cemetery a couple miles from here that daughter and I keep meaning to visit. One of these days…

In other news, well, it’s March, it’s sunny, and, ummmmm… yeah.

Hugs and gropes all around - take your pick!

Anyone else think “Get your hands off my junk!” is a little ambiguous when replying?
