The Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread

Stay classy, Vancouver.

I’ll just say that I am extremely grateful that Sinden, Jacobs, and Cam Neely didn’t listen to all those pundits in the last offseason that declared Thomas’s career over and insist that Tuuka Rask was the only goalie Boston needed.

Use a flamethrower on them. Neanderthal, follow-the-crowd rioting would end forever. Man I pray these neanderthals sharing a common brain return home to looted apartments and overturned, burning cars.

The Bruins front office finally broke with tradition and added some talent at the trading deadline this year. When Harry Sinden ran the shop, he’d stand pat, let the team be good enough to be interesting, but not good enough to win and demand bigger salaries. Eventually the fans caught on and stopped coming to the games and watching the cable network. Maybe it’s just that Cam Neely was determined not to waste Zdeno Chara’s career the way Sinden wasted his and Ray Bourque’s.

But that’s all history now, baby! B’s, baby! And yes, I know, the Canucks gutlessed their way to the loss as much as the Bruins worked to win it.

I’m sure Vancouver will come ready to play in game 8.

An excellent idea. Next time, we riot in Surrey. Spread the word!

Jesus, what a frickin’ disaster in downtown Vancouver. I love hockey too, but for Christ’s sake.

If the Canucks make another playoff run next year, I would not blame the city for refusing to allow large street gatherings during playoff games.

Well, the better team won last night. The canucks looked tired/nervous/scared the whole game.

Congrats Bruins Fans!

Holy crap! In the US, we only start riots when we win!

ETA: Not that it makes any more sense

Wow. Even Montreal has figured that one out - did you see the size of the crowds watching the game at that major intersection last night? Win or lose I think there would have been riots, but the scale of this one is alarming! I guess they figured the Olympics went so well, they wouldn’t have to worry too much, but they didn’t expect to lose, nor expect it to be in such an embarrassing fashion!
Thanks to a mis-key when typing that last exclamation mark, I’ve discovered that hitting CTRL-1 switches to the first tab in Firefox. CRTL-2 to second tab, etc. Pretty cool! Thought I’d share my discovery, in case maybe I wasn’t the last person on the planet to know about this!

nm…

Grats, Boston…especially to Tim “MF’n” Thomas, that was quite a clinic.

Good job Bruins!

Maybe a Vancouverite will read this… shame shame shame on Vancouver. Booing like that during the trophy presentation. That was the Bruins moment there and you ruined it. What’s your point? Does it make you booers feel better? Wow how Tough you all are.
And ps: rioting like that, really classy Vancouver.

After all world watched you in the Olympics, now we know it is just one big fake display. Crass, rude and sore losers… pack behavior… gang mentality. Ugly.

Oh dear, first mention I’ve seen of this. I have to say this drops my estimation of Vancouver fandom at least as much as the rest of it.

They were booing Gary Bettman, not the Bruins. It happens every year, in every city.

Which is why I think that instead of Bettman presenting the Cup, it should be the captain of the previous year’s champion who does it. Kind of like the green jacket at Augusta.

If a team wins it twice in a row, they can choose their own presenter. So for example, if the Bruins win again next year, the Cup can be presented by someone like Bobby Orr, or Esposito…or Carl Yastrzemski, or Steven Tyler, or whatever.

To be clear what I said is, They were booing during the trophy presentation.

However,

I know, and it’s trite and pointless. Give it a break… Bettman is what he is and it is what it is. Only one team is happy at the end of the season.

Let the guys with the white gloves present it.

Totally neutral, problem solved.
