The Story Time MMP

About Swampy owing me money?
I’ve seen doodley squat in my Palpay account. :dubious:

Well, I got that far, and I think I already saw the solution

Slightly silly day today- we have no washing machine, so I have to drag it down to the local laundrette, did so this morning, to discover something had tripped a switch down there, and they had no power. Plus, all the machines were full anyway, so I would have had to sit there 'n wait for the power, then wait for the washes to finish, then start mine in… So I just took the laundry for a nice day out in the car, while I tried to find a different place to make it not-smelly.

I’ll try take some piccies of my felted things A[sup]2[/sup], we actually have sun  today, so I should do it now while the light’s good.

I have three spearmint candies and some lint in my right pants pocket. Will that do?

Why is it every year during the Holidays when most people want to spend more money on food and presents we are in the most desperate financial straights we will be in all year? I literally dread the holidays because we can’t even afford a Christmas tree this year. How sad is that? Looks like we may have to bust out the Charlie Brown looking table top tree again, and hope the grand parents send some money or enough presents to get the twins something. Last year I had a couple of people from work take pity on us and they got the twins some presents, which was so generous and unexpected. Since I work from home this year, Christmas will probably be sparse and that sucks so much I want to cry :frowning:

Just thought I would say Heeeeeeeeeeeey!

Batch 1 of felted stuff. Suggestions for improvements appreciated- I have to post the lot off in a few days, so any flaws need fixin’ ay ess ay pee.

I haven’t got round to trimmin’ all the loose strands off yet; I’ll do that last thing as more spontaneously generate, they don’t look as bad in the flesh (wool?) but the pictures really highlight the messy bits.

Apes my folks had five kids, so needless to say, money was kinda tight. We got a couple of presents at Christmas and were good with that. The twins are young and I’ll bet will be thrilled with any presents. I know you want to do a lot but they’ll be happy with what you can do. I believe that.

**N.O.L.**time. I has a ham and cheese sammich, chips and a bottle of water. This makes me happy.

ETA: Keeyoote critters there Nuts!

We went out to lunch and I had a chickie teriyaki salad - not bad, but not great. I want an oatmeal cookie now. NOW!!!

Surprisingly, he is still alive.. the best part is when I asked him.. “Daddy, did you do that?” He looks at me with a perfectly straight face and says " I might have" :stuck_out_tongue:
Apes, this threadmay have some good ideas?

**Doggio **As for Jynx, I like her… she’s silly. Yeah, I think we’ll keep her!

Happy Hump Day!

AARGH!! It’s the time of year <here> for sweaters and jackets, which means it’s the time of year to LOSE YOUR LICENSE/BANK CARD/KEYS and run around the house trying to figure out which jacket you were wearing when you last had them. >.< It doesn’t help that I’m in the midst of packing and throwing out stuff, too, so it was quite a scare this morning when I couldn’t find my bank card. I mean, the timing couldn’t have been worse on it, as for bureaucratic reasons I probably would not have been able to get a replacement.

But at least I found it, yay! Also found that Mouse is peeing on the clothes on the floor >.<
Laundry time!

Apes, Christmas for us, with 4 kids, was pretty awesome, but not in the 'omg I got every gift I ever wanted! way. Try doing the cheap, at-home stuff that lets you know it’s Christmas!
I’m not sure how old the twins are, but if they are at least walking age, make a big deal out of going to a local dollar store and picking out Christmas decorations, especially if you’ll have a tree. Also the popcorn garlands, strung with a needle and thread; they may not be old enough to hold the needle, but they can hand you popcorn; can even add cranberries. Use little socks to hold little treats and hang them around the house. Tell stories every night leading up to Christmas. There’s tons they’ll remember; not getting a particular toy won’t be one of them, promise.
And Jynx, here’s a link to my favorite comic; read 'em all! They’re single-shots, so you don’t have to worry about keeping up a storyline. http://www.smbc-comics.com/

Thanks for the link Taomist! I shall commence my enjoyment post haste.

We had to put my screen name sake on kitty happy pills (a.k.a. attitude adjustment pills, a.k.a. feline zoloft, a.k.a. the cat-might-kill-us-in-our-sleep-for-making-him-take-these-pills pills)

Which reminds me I need to call in refill…

To actually finish my thought…Kitty was peeing on/in things that were NOT his ginormous-cleaned-everyday-litter boxes e.g. the BRAND SPANKING NEW SOFA AND CHAIR that we bought because he had peed on the old one awhile back but hadn’t in a while so we thought we were free and clear, MY clean laundry not my husbands, my boots (plural) (sob) I had to buy new ones (ok that wasn’t so bad))

I saw instructions for giving a cat a pill by some British woman.

Gently put firmly open the cat’s mouth, push the pill towards the back of his throat…

Get a towel and wrap it around the cat’s legs…

Apply bandaids and Mercurochrome.

Call your spouse in from the garden, and sit on the cat…

To give a dog a pill:
Wrap it up in a piece of hamburger.

Ditto on Taomist’s suggestions! Plus a tour of neighborhoods that are all gussied up is super cool. Heck, I only remember a couple three gifts and I was ten or older. What I recall from early childhood is all the foo rah not the presents.

Thanks for the boot clue Jynxie. Imma gonna keep an eye out for sales (full price? Whazzat?) and hope to snag a pair. This cold weather stuff is… well…a learning opportunity, let’s say.

So one of my roomies is proving to be a pain already. She’s loud, and shockingly devoid of social graces. The whole house was woken up at 4 when she dropped her junk out all over. Didn’t apologize just complained loudly about having to pick it up. Which took 15 long loud minutes and still she managed to leave her nasty ass dirty underpants in full view.

On the bright side, they have proved to be a great appetite suppressant. Plus, it’s good encouragement to find a job, bank money, and find somewhere new.

Oh yeah! How about mashed NOTs for the potluck? Just add cheese and prosciutto so it’s Irish and Italian. Plus easy to make and transport, etc.

Boot to the Head

Probably not the “boot” you are looking for but funny (to me) none the less.

Howdy from da cave! Chilly, damp, dreary day in south Jawja. Thus chikin 'n dumplin’s for dindin. Nummy, delicious, warm, comfort food made for a day like this. Peas and carrots shall be the vegetative matter cause, one must have one’s vegetative matter.

BRRRRRRR!! I just hung a load of laundry out on the lines - it’s 43° and getting dark. But the dryer repair guys won’t be here till Monday (when **FCD **is off work) and I can’t have those dirties hanging around till then. They should all be dry when we get home from work tomorrow.

We’ll be leaving for the vet’s office shortly - Puppeh (**FCD **had decided he doesn’t like Wanda for a name after all) will get a once-over and we’ll talk about getting her in to be spayed. Supper will be late - no idea what it will be, tho. Maybe we’ll drive thru someplace on the way home.

**Jynx **- one of our cats took to peeing on our loveseat recliner. We got a urinary tract health cat food, and the problem seems to be solved. Plus I cleaned the dickens out of that recliner over several months - it’s finally stink-free. So much so that the cat will sleep on it now!

That’s all for now.

THE INSPECTOR IS HERE.

He showed up on my shift! He’s not supposed to show up until after my shift!

Oh, I hope we do good. The tension has been working a number on me the last couple of days. I have been Short With People. Sucks being empathetic during stressful times.

“Bwinggg”(transporter sound)

Hi I am back <waves>

All I can say is, that was a boring planet, please never make me go there again.

I was fortunate to grow up around books and as a child loved Dr Seuss, I guess noone here will be surprised that I was into sci fi by the time I was eight or so.

Sorry to be gone so long but it has been teh suck, things are definitely looking up. I have been lurking and keeping up, just wasn’t into posting lamentations. Hope all is well for everyone.

The past several days I have been working a conference for ASME and it was pretty cool. Had speakers like Tom Friedman and a Colonel from DARPA. The head of the NSF was given an award and made a speech, we also had a guy from research at Baker Hughes tell us about new drilling and extraction tools. All pretty cool stuff for a geek like me. Thought I would share

Cheers all
