The Straight Dope Bartender's Guide

You can call this the Dave-Guy if you like, but I think either a Tropical Russian or a Russian Colada would be more suitable. Also, I’ve never actually tried this, but I think it would taste good, if mixed in the proper proportions.

It’s made the same way a White Russian is made, except that instead of cream (or whatever is used to make it white) cream of coconut is added to give it that hint of the tropics.

If you don’t like coconut, then spare me your comments and find something else to drink.

And take special note of my sig line!

Tequila Mockingbird

3/4 oz Sauza tequila
1/4 oz Midori

pour Tequila into shot glass and top with Midori.
Chilling or adding a splash of 7up is optional, depending on whether or not you want a frigid bird or one with a bit of a of effervescence.

The Zappo:

Maker’s Mark bourbon (or Jim Beam if I’m particularly impecunious that week)
Ice

Place ice in glass, pour healthy portion of bourbon over ice. Drink. Repeat as necessary.

If I’m feeling froufrou, I’ll have what Ukulele Ike is having.
Remember: if you’re going to drink, give me your car keys. I’ll be sure to send you a postcard from Tiajuana. :stuck_out_tongue:

Jarbaby
Highball with ice:
add

1 oz. Vanilla Vodka
1 oz. Kahlua
fill glass halfway with Cream
top with coke.

Tastes like a kick ass adult ‘float’.

The Esprix (aka the Liquid Watermelon)

[ul][li]1 glass Sierra Mist (not 7-Up or Sprite)[/li][li]DeKuyper’s Mad Melon watermelon schnapps to taste[/ul][/li]
Sweet, light, refreshing, and just so… esprix.

Esprix

Frozen heavy glass beer mug – fill with ice cubes
Add 1.5 ounces of good light rum
Then stir in a couple of ounces of OJ
Then float Kern’s guava nectar up to the rim

Do not stir after adding the guava nectar. The two juices remain separate in the frosty frozen mug, creating a beautiful half and half combination of pale strawberry pink and orange.

This was created during the 2001 Oregon Legislative Session, by yours truly.

Pint of Mountain Dew, over ice.
Double shot of Midori.

It’s called the Quorum. Why? 'Cause you gotta have one.

Well, these days I seldom drink anything alcoholic other than beer and single malt scotch, but I did invent a drink in college, specifically for imbibing while camping.

The Bughunter
1 large pink grapefruit, chilled
8 oz gin (or vodka), chilled

Slice grapefruit in half, across the sections. Use the knife to make two slices through the pulp in each half, at right angles to one another, taking care not to cut the rind. Pour 4 oz gin in each half of the grapefruit.

Makes two servings.

The Mick
Guinness Stout with a little bit of absolut mixed in.
