Are you a Zombie drinker? Or do you prefer a slow comfortable double-entendre against the wall?
Myself, I discovered this wonderful cocktail a few years ago and have been harping on about it to everybody ever since. It’s very simple, just Malibu and Milk. I don’t know if it’s got a name or anything but it’s just Lush!
Have you found any special mix or blend, or any odd combination of drinks that please the palate?
Lately I’ve been drinking martinis, mixed to approximately equal proportions of gin and vermouth. I also mix in a good deal of lemon juice, and throw in the wedge; I’m not sure it still qualifies as a martini, but either way decent quality gin is essential.
See, a gin and tonic generally does me well, but when I want to get fancy, a Mojito is rather nice, or a Cuba Libre. And you can’t go wrong with a good Gibson.
I like the Hennessy Sidecar- but with Cointreau instead of Triple Sec (Chill the martini glass, lemon twist in there as well, pinch of sugar). Smooth on the way down with a little bite if mixed right.
Gin and tonic is not a cocktail, it’s a highball.
Cocktail:
Hard liquor and at least two other ingredients, excluding ice, garnish, water, or fizzwater of some sort.
Yes, even the martini at one time had at least three liquid ingredients:

If one fills a drink up with fizzwater, it’s no longer a cocktail but a highball. One sure way to tell if you’re in a lousy bar is to ask for an Old Fashioned. If they fill it up with fizzwater, turn around, walk out, and never return for any reason.
Thanks brainfizz, I am going to go home tonight and try it b/c I just happen to have the ingredients at home. I do drink raging bulls in clubs to stay alert. But I will let you know how I like the malibu concoction - does it have a name?
Well you’re probably right at that. I’m still working on finding the right mix. I actually drank a couple of these 50/50 mixtures last night and now have a mild headache which I attribute to the adjuncts in the vermouth.
I confess with real shame that, not having proper Martini glasses at home, I drink them on the rocks.
SofP - yeah, you’re prolly right… it was the stuff in the vermouth that did it. nudge, nudge, wink, wink I am, however, having problems understanding how not having a proper glass warrants the use of ice! Use a freakin’ jelly glass if need be! And leave the ice in the shaker! uh… you did use a shaker, right?
