Yikes!
I’m more the highball sort, with Crown and Seven my fave.

I’m a dull, boring gin & tonic guy myself. Tanqueray, of course, but gin & tonic nonetheless.
Second fave is the equally dull and boring White Russian.
However, I’m always up for a good, creative drink mixed by an expert (and hopefully cute) bartender
When I was working at a dive in the Bronx, we had a regular who was in love with his Stingers.
I tried it once or twice. It’s a bit strong, but the cachet of having a “pet drink” that nobody else knows is worth nursing it for 45 minutes.
I call mine the “Lumberjack”
One shot glass of wood alcohol (hence the name “lumberjack”)
Hmm… guess that’s not much of a cocktail.
Mipiace, did you try it? Hasn’t got a name that I know of. A friend and I just mixed it up once and fell in love with it!
Malibu and milk has no name I’ve ever heard…nor has anyone ever ordered it from me…but people have been known to drink stranger stuff, so if you like it, order away. (I think vodka and Coke are right up there on the “Oh-my-God-how-can-you-drink-that-you-freak” scale. For me, at least. Ditto for tequila and Sprite.)
My favorite “cocktail” is probably a concoction I made up myself, following the format of a Long Island. 3/4 oz each of four flavored vodkas, topped off with sweet-and-sour and Sprite.
I call it the Baltic Iced Tea. It tastes like candy and kicks in like poison.
But I never order it, b/c I hate being high maintenance and I hate high-maintenance customers, so my trust stand-by is Red Bull and Absolut. I’m right there with you, Mipiace. I don’t even drink it cuz of the caffeine; I just luuuuuuuuv Red Bull, and I’m a vodka drinker from the word go.
Dammit. Now I want one.
My favorite Summer drink is a Stoli Raspberi gimlet:
Stoli with a healthy splash of roses lime juice
During the Winter it’s Maker’s Mark manhattans (with the bitters)
Spring and Fall can go either way.
(smacking lips, but all out of Stoli…)
A Singapore Sling is lovely and refreshing, as are large pitchers of Cosmopolitans
Beer in the summer, from heini’s to Old Style.
Snowshoes in the winter. Shot of Christian Bro’s topped with rumple mintz… mmmmm
I like a nice Black Russian, and I wouldn’t turn down a Harvey Wallbanger–though to be quite honest, my favorite drink is a shot of vodka with a cookie dough chaser. You can’t just order that in a bar, but you should be able to!!
Vodka martinis - very dry :
Pack a shaker full of ice. Pour in some dry vermouth. Shake. Pour out the vermouth. Fill the shaker with vodka (I’ve been using Luksusowa lately, which is a pretty good potato vodka from Poland - athough, I have found a decent grain vodka from Siberia called Altay which makes an acceptable martini - better than a lot of the prestige vodkas around!!!) and shake - HARD. Strain into a frosted martini glass, garnish with a twist of lemon or olives (I was recruited to be bartender at an ‘after-funeral’ a while back - I used black olives).
Nuts and Berries.
Frangelico, Chambord, and cream.
That stuff is dessert!
I’m sitting by the pool slamming back drinks that have never been mixed before: white tequila poppers with Our Compliments Pink Grapefruit soda instead of 7-Up.
Yeah, yeah, not a cocktail. Wanna fight?
The official recipe for a Three-legged Naked Wet Rat with a Stupid Bad Shave, which I just made up:
[ul][li]7.3 oz bottom-shelf tequila in a plastic jug[]Medium-grain sand[]Toothpaste (preferably Tom’s of Main Cinnamint)[]2 sticks clarified butter[]1/4 oz tomato paste[]Pencil shavings[]Snausages, to taste[/ul][/li]
Pour all ingredients together in a giant blender, but do not turn on the blender. Turn the television to channel 1 and insert Disc 1 of “Father Ted - Series 3” upside-down into your DVD player. Return to the kitchen. Pour the ingredients two teaspoons at a time into a rice cooker. Turn on the rice cooker. Then turn it off again immediately. File for bankruptcy and then stir. While waiting for ingredients to harden, make yourself one of the other, more palatable drinks mentioned in this thread and then set your house on fire.
Enjoy!
My new fave is totally girly. It’s called a Flirtini. Champagne, Gray Goose vodka, Chambord or a few drops of of cranberry juice, orange twist.
My standbys: Bombay Sapphire Martini or VO Manhattan, extra sweet with two cherries.
My only made-up drink - Kahlua and soda. Looks like a coke, so when you’re underage you can order it at family functions and be inconspicuous. (Underage Dopers, don’t try this at home! ;))
I’m just beginning to venture into the wonderful world of hard liquor.
I had two Tequila Sunrises this weekend. Delicious! (At least I think it was a tequila sunrise–OJ, cranberry juice, and Cuervo gold?)
I also never liked gin, but my sis-in-law, introduced me to Bombay Sapphire. Wow! That stuff is delicious.
I’ve also been drinking more sangria. Yum! Since we have a Trader Joe’s in town, wine can be had super-cheap.
