In a thread about the guy who had the temerity to write a book titled “The Straight Dope” without being Cecil I suggested adding him to our Enemies List™. That got me thinking, who would be on it and in which order?.
So, if only to start the ball rolling, my submission:
It was a riff on Homer Simpson’s enemies list where the very first entry is “Homer Simpson”, but yes, while we may be not our #1 enemy I think we should be on the list, if only to keep us on our toes…
The authorship of the Odyssey and the Iliad is disputed. While some scholars believe Homer is solely responsible, others claim that the poems were retold and revised by numerous people. This theory has led to various explanations for the use of the word Homer. Some speculate that it was a term meaning wandering blind poet.
There are all kinds of people in the political sphere such as Putin and Netanyahu and Elon Musk; but I think it would be more interesting for the OP to exclude those types.
Agreed: I take VP JD & Stephen Miller back. Insert FIFA instead. Or, if it must be a person, make it their boss: Infantino, whom I like to call Mafiantino.
There are a few woo-practitioners whose names seem to crop up a lot around here. Uri Geller was a common takedown target for a while.
I don’t know if anyone else feels the same about Jonathan Haidt as I do, but he’s a PhD which is often trotted out as a “centrist” who says all sorts of flattering things about conservative psychology. It’s one example of a high-paying grift where pseudo-intellectuals sell conservatives’ own ideas back to them as some sort of forbidden knowledge or “scientifically proven” moral theory.
