I just noticed the column is now running in Creative Loafing, the free alternative weekly here in Atlanta. I don’t know exactly how long it’s actually been running, since I don’t pick up a copy every week, but it definitely didn’t used to be there.
So, congratulations to Cecil and the Chicago Reader honchos! Our plans for World Domination continue to advance smoothly!
It hasn’t been long - three or four weeks at most. I, too, am delighted to see Cecil’s column in our alternative weekly. Maybe it will translate into fresh Atlanta Dopers on the Boards!
I could be wrong, but I believe Atlanta’s *Creative Loafing * has carried the column before. I lived there about twenty years ago and I’m sure I was reading The Straight Dope, and there weren’t many alt. weeklies to choose from. Perhaps someone in the know could confirm or refute this.
I was going to say the same thing. I’m pretty sure it was running in Creative Loafing when I lived in Gwinnett, more than 10 years ago. It’s how I heard of the column (and eventually, the website, and the board) in the first place.
It definitely wasn’t running recently, as in the past few years, but it’s certainly possible that it was running years ago and was dropped. I mean, if you can imagine of anyone being so unenlightened as to make such a benighted editorial decision.

Alas, Cecil is losing the good fight in Texas. He was dropped by The Austin Chronicle back in July 
I’m a bit annoyed that TSD doesn’t run in San Francisco, of all places. I mean, if there’s anywhere that needs to know the caloric content of semen… 
The only place I’ve seen it locally is the Pacific Sun, which is published in Marin, I think, with a limited distribution in the City.
