The Summer Solstice MMP

It was actually “Here Comes The Sun.” It’s the only Beatles song I know that I can play the tune of on the ukulele (though I know a few others where I play the chords and sing - but I wasn’t singing at this gig.)

I am. Plant was thinking I was going to inflate Swampy’s ego.

And I thought if the polydextrous ones had opposible thumbs we would be DOOOOOOOMED

Since I promised I’d post them, here’s the three shotsof the twister that hit Cottonfield County last week.

blurf

I didn’t have to get up early this morning, but I did anyway, to play a joke on a friend, sort of. You see, the last time I sent her an email early in the morning, it went to her iPod and apparently it made a noise that woke her up. (No, I don’t understand modern technology… why do you ask? :stuck_out_tongue: ) So I tried doing the same thing this morning to see if it had the same effect.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 74 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 89 for the day. It’s like we’re in the midst of a cool snap!

{{{Apes}}} just cause is looks like you could use a hug.

Neat tornady shots BBBobbio!

Ok, I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy says “Feed Me!” Then, alas, irk purtification must commence. At least 'tis Firday.

Happy Firday Y’all!

It’s 54-freekin’-degrees on this first day of summer! WOW!!! By next week, we’ll be in the 90s and all humid and stuff, but for now, I’m loving it. I actually got chilly overnight.

Higgs woke both of us just before 6, but I was nice and told **FCD **to go back to sleep. He was really tired and I really like this hour or so in the morning that I have to myself.

I’m starting to do some serious applying for work - preferably part time. I’m not necessarily looking to be an engineer again - maybe something non-retail or non-food-service to fill a few hours of the week. You know - admin or clerical stuff mainly. One job only requires a HS diploma, and they want proof. Um, I graduated in 1972 - I’m pretty sure I threw out my high school diploma years ago… Guess I’m not gonna get that one. Hey, **BBBobbio **- your place hiring??

Today, we’ll start trimming out the deck with lattice and such. Then tomorrow, I can start planting the things I had to dig up. Then it’ll get too hot to work in the garden. Stoopit summer. Spring should be lots longer!

Happy Firday, anyway!!

Morning all,

Nothing like rolling into irk at 0645 and most of the lights are off. I have been sitting here in the dark for a half an hour. I liked it!

Driving up to visit my parents on the Eastern Shore around noonish today for the weekend if irk doesn’t manage to blow up spectacularly. With the people that I am irking with that is always a possibility.

I can has blurf?

I’m having a nice quiet day today, I’ve got the office to myself, the window’s open and the lights are off. We have a campus open day today so I am not venturing out until hometime because it will be very busy out there and full of schoolies. For some reason the girls can’t talk to each other without squealing and shrieking, I can hear them and I’m on the fifth floor. If someone is actually committing murder down there, it will go unnoticed.

Looking forward to going home today, I promised myself I’d do half an hour on the Wii and have a nice soaky bath, then I will be vegging on the sofa after dinner probably watching a film. Tomorrow is errands and then cocktails in the evening. How very civilised!

My sis took this picand came up with the caption, but it’s my dog on my deck and I used my account. Give me some *likes *and maybe it’ll make the rotation?

I’m pretty sure **swampy **will appreciate it!

8 hour meeting today. blurf.

Everything about that sentence is wrong. I’m so sorry.

Got to work stupid early this morning because I didn’t go through most of my purtification process today. Half day today, then driving down the shore and purtying up for the wedding while borrowing my parents’ hotel room. Wedding tonight, birthday party tomorrow night, wedding next weekend, family vacation starting on the 4th … I can’t wait for, oh, mid-July so I can rest again. Until this year’s fourth wedding on August 3rd. Sigh.

Will hopefully hear from the vet this morning on Old Cat’s test results. Sick Cat has been almost back to himself–he eats everything we put in front of him, doesn’t appear to have peed on anything he wasn’t supposed to, and even kinda just opened his mouth and resigned himself when I went to give him his meds this morning. He’s still hiding in my room, but that’s probably because there is an Other in the house. So, even if both cats are on their way out, they’re feeling fine right now.

Bob, that third twister shot looks awfully… ummm… close?

Man, I’m jealous of all these folks still enjoying cool weather. WeatherBug says 96 the next 7 days straight.

Cool, if you start at 8:00 then you should be done by 9 at the latest and you have all day to MMP. Lucky guy.

All I can say is better thee than me. :stuck_out_tongue:

MOOOOOOM I love Higgs’ indignant look. She’d make a good Whiskypalian. Indeed, a Bloody Mary with no celery stalk. How uncivilized!

Draelin, you definitely need that black goggie. What a look on his/her face!

Happy Firday. Tomorrow I get to meet my great-niece. I’ve told her father (my nephew) that I might buy her a pony when she gets older. Mwwwwaaaahahaha!
Why? I ask because for the first time in, oh, 40 years… me too.
Your reason is probably more enjoyable than mine. I go in for two-level lumbar fusion on Wednesday. Everyone tells me it’s not exactly an easy thing to recover from, and I won’t be able to touch the lawn mower for at least a couple of months.

Walking will be good for me, but the pushing, pulling, and general banging around on our lumpy lawn will not be good.

I have a grumpy against the DME (durable medical equipment provider) that’s handling my CPAP equipment. Someone called yesterday to set an appointment, and I asked if they had my address. “Oh yes” was the response. The fellow calls ten minutes ago as I wasn’t at the address he went to. :smack: They sent him 45 minutes away from here, so he’ll be late. The irony is that he said he lives about a mile from my house, so he probably went past me to go to the old address.

You say that as though it were a bad thing.

I mean to post this here.

That is one disappointed/indignant looking pug

Is there a magpie pie recipe on the blog? The little £%$s have pulled up almost all my beets, some of the radish and loads of my carrots (which were all looking really promising), then adandoned them otherwise undamaged. None of those would survive replanting.

Good news for the day is I got the other letter from the gummint, and I’m not going to be cast out into the wilderness without a penny! Yay! Plus my strawberries are just starting to ripen- had about 6 today, and there’s plenty more coming  (unless the arial ratbags figure out how to get the netting off). I’m going to try make elderflower sham-pag-nee today. I’ve not tried making it before, but it’s yum, and only takes a few weeks to make, unlike proper wine. Got some cheap slightly overripe bananananas again, so I might try some banananana cake too.
