The tale of the woeful HP Printer.

I’ve got an HP DeskJet 630C. Oh, but it’s been a lovely little thing. Recently however, it has chosen to become haunted. The result is that even though I keep it filled but not overfilled with paper, it eternally flashes as out of paper.

The sensor is bad? The drivers are going kerflooey? I hate to ditch it. I cannot afford a replacement and it seems to print just fine. I haven’t changed the paper grade or anything else. The cartridge is fresh and fine as well.

I can only get it to print by turning off the printer, then turning it back on and going to print right away. Then, it will do just fine.

Thoughts? Ideas? Anyone familiar with this tragic course of events?

Sounds like a faulty sensor. Get ye a can of compressed air and have at it. Worse case scenario is you have a clean, albeit useless, printer.

Paper sensors are often mechanical. Get a flashlight and and implement-of-poking and see if you can find it. It may be jammed with some lint or something…though if it’s stuck in the “no paper” position it’s more likely broken. You may be able to twiddle with it enough to make it work. Best of luck.
