Up, working on my second cuppa joe, logged into irk. I built a little trolly for our 3,000 Watt generator a few years ago, and the generator lives in the catio. Goo found a spider under it and ate it. (The spider, not the generator.)
I just had a call from the Vet. Buddy did fine with his surgery and was already awake. I can go get him at 2:30. They wanted to make sure he was entirely over the anesthetic. They are loaning me a cone in case I need it which saves me $30. Hopefully he won’t need it. Guess I need to not let him run and jump for a day or so. Poor baby.
Lazy day thus far. No real plans for the rest of the day. I think hubby is picking up steak for supper.
Good job Goo! Our new house has come with a Halloween’s worth of spiders. The cats have been eating them, although I’ll intervene if I can, since most of them are black widows. Eating them won’t harm the cats, but getting bitten is bad.
Today I want to die. This is a level 11 migraine, even for me. Grr.
Happy Firday! Happy Birthday Butters!
It was a chilly 46 degrees when I went to the park this morning BRRRRRR!
Ripple hates the new truck.
I had to pick him up and put him in the first time. He managed to jump in by himself when we were coming home.
I need to get some running boards.
Glad Buddy is doing well after his surgery Butters.
Hope kitty does well Trans.
When I had my horse, bot flies were a problem, although not so serious for a horse.
Lots to do today, around the house and my son has a shit load of assignments due today. So I will be doing a lot of proofreading. I told him if he does not stop splitting infinitives, I am going to knock him upside the head.
Back from the fair - it was a perfect day and I wish I’d taken a hat. But I got my share of Vitamin D, so there’s that. Roxy and daughter are napping, and I just finished washing the windows in our bedroom. I’m about to do the living room windows. We got them installed 9 years ago, and I’m pretty sure I’ve washed them at least once since then.
Just about the time I was ready to go out and start mowage, there was a knock on my door, and the Tru-Green guy was there to treat my lawn. So no cutting today, probably now Sunday. Fortunately it’s been so dry the past two weeks that th grass hasn’t grown all that much, so a couple days delay is not going to make it look any worse.
Then as I prepared to munch on my 11am meal, the phone rang just as I was putting my Pepsi down, and surprise, I spllled it all over the keyboard. So even after cleaning it up the keyboard wouldn’t work, so off to Stapes for a replacement. I was luck to find one that still is wired (I’ll go wireless when I get a new computer early in 2020) and less than $20. Bring it home and the USB port it plugs into doesn’t seem to be working anymore. Plugged it into one of my front USB ports and it seems to be working just fine.
So still haven’t done my Sudoku’s for Friday. bah.
The front bow window, the window next to my desk, and the master bedroom/bath windows are all clean, as are their respective screens. Go me! I’ll finish the rest tomorrow.
Taz is missing. He might be hiding in Roxy’s or daughter’s rooms but I can’t find him in his usual hiding places. I hope SIL didn’t let him escape. Idiot cat…
You might want to get Buddy one of these collars instead. When Vinnie had his last surgery the vet sold us one of those cones and he couldn’t drink from his water dish and kept running into door jambs and stuff. We went over to the local pet store and got him one of those instead, worked a treat.
Sorry bout your haid Sunny
I was trying to break it to you gently. Some of the safes I’ve looked at weigh in the neighborhood of 600 lbs.
I wish I had an anvil. I’ve got a 12" piece of railroad rail that I can use to beat things against, but it just ain’t the same.
The onliest cat I ever personally owned was a Manx kitty I found in the middle of the road one night. It was very young and had been bitten on the butt and the wound was full of maggots. I took it to the vet and they got the maggots out somehow, (they didn’t let me watch) I had that cat for a couple of years until it disappeared one day.
I did another dumb thing last night. We took the A/C unit out of the bedroom window yesterday and I hurt my back, so I thought I’d get into the hot tub. When I lifted the cover I found that the edge of the tub all around was covered with ants!
Well, I couldn’t resist the chance to kill thousands of my enemies at one time, so I grabbed the bug spray and sprayed them.
So then I had to drain the hot tub and this morning had to clean it out.
I noticed that my right big toe was hurting but just thought my water sock was too tight, but when we were done and in the kitchen I noticed blood spots all over the linoleum. My right big toenail was bleeding. I must have an ingrown toenail.
So now I’m sitting at the computer desk with my foot in a water bath. Wifey thought that was the thing to do, and it does feel better. :dubious:
It’s a good thing we don’t live close to you Mom. If you saw the state of our windows you’d prolly get up a petition to have us run out of the neighborhood.
Buddy is having to wear the cone and like Bumba said he can’t eat or drink with it and he looks so pitiful. I will order one of the donut ones. He’s got to wear it for 10 days which seems like a long time. I can take it off when I am watching to make sure he doesn’t lick. They only had to pull four baby teeth as the permanent ones are already in.
Hubs is getting steak and after that I am going to sleep. I have been sleepy all day.
Most frustrating day.
Got the onstar cancelled - no problem.
Got an appointment for the puppy for next week, and the flight information. All that went well.
Called the insurance company to delete the old truck and add the new truck. All that went well, Except my insurance is going up quite a bit with the new truck. Then I found out I could have been getting a discount on my insurance if I had gone to paperless billing. Then I found out my drive wise wasn’t working, which gives me another discount on my insurance, so I had to figure out what was wrong with that and fix it.
Then I had to deal with general motors. So I call the number to get the code for the discount and the person tells me I called the wrong number and gives me a different number to call. I call that number and got transferred to five (count them FIVE) different people who each told me I needed to talk to somebody else. The fifth person sent me back to the first number, and also was saying something about how they don’t handle my mother’s pension??? So I call the first number back, she says she can’t give me the information, she has to talk to my mother. Why??? I don’t know but it seems as long as my mother is alive we have to go through her even though I have bought many trucks and got the discount without ever needing to go through her.
So I called my mother and tried to put us on three way, but the cs person hung up, so we tried to do it online but my mother’s password wouldn’t work. I got a message saying that if after three attempts we still couldn’t get in to create another account, only it wouldn’t let us create another account because there is an existing account. So she called to get the code, only she couldn’t get it over the phone and it is being mailed to her - which she doesn’t understand because my uncle and cousin just bought cars using the discount with no problem.
Then she said how much of a discount did I get and I couldn’t find it in the paperirk, so she says they probably didn’t give it to me as car dealers like to rip people off, so I drove all the way back out to the dealership, just to get it pointed out to me where it was. I feel so stupid.
So half a day wasted trying to get an authorization code and we still don’t have it.
Taz scared the bedoobies outta me today. I couldn’t find him anywhere, and I was afraid he’d somehow snuck out.
Nope. I was napping with my daughter. She didn’t even know he was there - SIL found him!
I’s tahred - I think this will be an early night. And I have Roxy in the morning because daughter is taking yearbook pictures tomorrow at the fair - the students from her school are in the parade. Then after the parade, the three of them are going to SIL’s nephew’s birthday party. I’ll get laundry and windows done somewhere along the way. I hope.
Speaking of the fair, if you’re a FB friend of mine, the video of Roxy talking to the sheep is posted on my timeline. If you want to be my friend, PM me and I’ll tell you how to find me.
Same from here but the lazy option of hitting reply.
I wondered what I was going to do with Fridays off; I’ve found out. Dropped some stuff off at Penns Colony, picked some stuff up at Harbor Freight, did some grocery shopping, gassed the car, gassed and started gas treatments on Bessie, met a friend and made dinner – smoked beef over Amish noodles. Now I remember why I worked Fridays for the last 5 years — I needed the rest!
I know; we got one at Da Old Jungle by accident once. Along with fridges, washers, dryers -------- and once a 22’x80’ freaking carpet. Who ordered it? The Taj?
I wish we lived closer; I have three anvils ranging from 25 to 85 pounds but want a piece or rail. Some of the things I shape would go a lot easier on a rail section but I haven’t been able to find one in my travels.
Howdy Y’all! I was bzzzy today. I accomplished stuff at the church house, went to :eek:Wally Jr., then went to the Harvey’s sto’ cause they had collard greens on sale and I wanted to see what they looked like. They looked good, so I bought three bunches. After I got back to da cave, I cleaned collards and got 'em bagged up and put in da freezer. Sup was chikin nachos, not burgers ‘n fries. That will be tomorrow’s promised sup to the young muscle that will help with movin’ stuff around tomorrow. I think I mentioned this already, but the promise of burgers 'n fries, beer, and cee-mint pond was enough to get volunteers. It should be only a couple hours of work so yay for that.
Butters yay for Buddy doin’ so well. Skritches from Unca swampy.
Sari yay on the new wheelz but boo for the discount problems. Hope it’s all fixed soonest.
Bumba hope the toe is better.
Sunny hope the migraine is better.
MetalMouse if it makes ya feel any better, I’ve had keyboards drink a few sodas over the years.
Soccer has been practiced and dinner consumed (they may have changed the recipe for Lean Cuisine’s Fettuchini Alfredo, and not for the better–may have to explore options). Trying to work up lineups for all three teams, the boys are not hard, everybody plays at least 3/4 of the game, but I have 14 girls and we only play 9 v 9, so 8 of them play 3/4 and the other 6 play 1/2. May drive me crazy figuring out who plays when and where so that for the season they all play approximately the same amount.
Did figure out the Sudoku’s in the paper, so that at least was accomplished.
3 games to coach and one game to referee tomorrow–should be out from 7am to 5pm with a couple breaks in-between. Sunday will be recuperation.
Happy birthday butters! Have you considered taking a big dog collar and a half a pool noodle to accomplish something like what bumba referenced?
spidey, I would welcome autumn too. I have much the same weather as **metal mouse **and am tired of days in the upper nineties.
Irked, swung by my favorite BBQ for some ribs, collards, mac and cheese and cornbread, took Nelson to the dog park and came home. Nelson played for an hour and a half with his dachshund buddy, Watson along with several chiweenies, a newly adopted beagle mix who had her first dog park visit ever and other assorted pooches. Now for chillage.
Squash fritters for dinner. A neighbour gave me a couple of bizarre flattish squash. They kind of looked like fat starfish. I grated them and sprinkled them with salt before squeezing the water out of them, and mixed them with a couple of eggs, almond flour, coconut flour, parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and pepper, then fried them in oil. There was marinara sauce on the side. I liked them. They were like potato pancakes. As I was finishing, I thought they’d be good with corn in them. :smack: Corn fritters! :smack: But I was going for the low-carb angle. Mrs. L.A. thought they were OK, but not very exciting. Oh, well. We’ll have Japanese food after the movie tomorrow.
