Had to take DH to the doctor today to have the stitches removed. Really wish followups could be at the hospital his primary care is affiliated with, since they keep things moving. Spent three hours today doing a lot of waiting around for a few minutes of XRay/doctor/nurse attention.
Any suggestions for low-carb, high-calories goodies? DH has lost a distressing amount of weight recently. He’s diabetic, so low-carb is a must, but I really need to get more calories stuffed into him.
Nuts, cheese, bacon and the like. Check out fat bombs on Pinterest. That tends to cater to the keto crowd and won’t be too hard on a diabetic short term.
The fritters sound good. I make something like this with zucchinis. I like the idea of almond and coconut flours to make it lower carb. I’m putting this on my list.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 68 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy (partly moony?) with a predicted high of 89 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. The past three days have been significantly less hyooomid, so there’s that. The big item on today’s agenda is to get some heavy pieces of furniture moved out into the garage. So glad for the young(er) muscle that will show up around nine this mornin’! After that chillage and quality cee-mint pond time shall ensue.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day. Rah.
It’s the stoopit sleep cycle again - waking repeatedly at stoopit hours. But I think I got some decent rest when it was all done. We shall see how I’m feeling round about 2 this afternoon.
Much on the agenda - the usual laundry, of course, and the remaining windows, plus I need to go to Aldi for some foodstuffs. And I need to run the carpet cleaner, thanks to dirty dogs. I fear I’ll have to close the house later today - temps in the mid-80s are promised. Dammit.
I should probably get the first load in the washer. Happy Saturday!
Will get dressed in about 15 minutes, broke my fast with some White Castles and a Pepsi, that should hold me until the afternoon.
Schedule for Sattiday:
7:30am team pictures for 12U girls
8:00am coach 12U girls
9:30am coach 12U boys
11:15am team picture for 12 boys
12:30pm referee 10U game
3:00 pm coach 10U boys (we’re at a different park about 15 miles away)
4:30 pm get home
4:31 pm collapse
The bed is stripped and I am dressed. The sheets are in the washer, with other loads sorted and ready. I get full control (hah!) of Roxy in about 20 minutes. She’s gonna wear me out, I’m sure…
Howdy Y’all! Young(er) muscle is a good thing. We’ve gotten a ton o’ stuff moved and are takin’ a little break. Also, Lowe’s called and wants to deliver the floorin’ today. I said. Then I got calmed down and told everything will be OK, let 'em bring it on. So they will be here within the hour, so they say. We shall see.
Higgs is on her way to getting groomed. With FCD, of course - she’s too young to drive herself. Second load on the lines, and I think I’ll take down the bedroom curtains so they can be washed next.
Here’s the recipe. I didn’t have any lemon pepper (or if I do, I didn’t feel like digging for it), so I just used black pepper. We’re out of onions, hence the onion powder (and the garlic powder).
It was a chilly morning at the dog park, but it is supposed to warm up considerably today.
We are home with much to do.
It looks like the power went out sometime while I was gone.
My son is not doing so well today. He miserably failed a test last night, very upset about that, and then I told him about Echo. I’m glad I told him after the test. I think he didn’t do as badly as he thinks, because a lot of the test was writing in answers. Unless what you write is 100% the same as the answer sheet, the computer scores it as wrong. He didn’t even finish the test, they had 2 hours for 100 questions, which is fine for T/F and Multiple Choice, not so good when you have to write in answers. Especially when you have to explain your answer. It was a mix of all three, but heavy on the write-ins.
I heard him mumbling throughout the test, so I know he was pretty frustrated.
I don’t know what all I am going to do today. Laundry is done. I’d like to irk in the yard a little but I’m still getting eaten alive by the skeeters.
Turns out the curtains were *looooooong *overdue for cleaning. They were fluffy on top! OK, dusty, but still. I took not only the bedroom curtains, but the ones in the living room and the valence in the stairwell. All are out on the line nowl Sadly, I’ll have to iron, but then they’ll be good for another 5-7 years.
**FCD **is picking up Higgs at the groomer. Then he and I will be going out for some lunch with a stop at Aldi on the way home. Once the sun no longer shines on the back windows, I can get them cleaned. Still dunno why I feel so productive. Was I drugged???
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, towels (and rugs) ready to go from washer to dryer, fixing to do KP, then purtify to go get groceries. My chore list for the weekend includes some rearranging in the studio and working with plants on the patio. I may go to the mountain this evening to listen to a friend play music.
Back from grocerying and lunch. **FCD **helped me make the bed, and he’s now napping. Daughter and her fambly are enroute to a b-day party. I’ve decided the windows can wait till tomorrow, so I’m about to assume the recline position and watch more Poldark.
When I bring the laundry in, I’ll have to iron the curtains and hang them, so I deserve a break now, right?
I don’t know where I got the bloody thing. Prolly at a garage sale. As soon as Wifey said “* what are you gonna do with that * thing” I knew I just had to have it. Comes in handy it does.
Sari We need to know what kind of truck you got (unless you already said and I forgot), pictures would be better, so’s we can [del]judge[/del] admire your new ride.
Were they maybe pattypan squashs? We slice them up and saute them in butter and garlic.
Today I’m gonna take a shower and see if I can put my shoe on over my sore toe.
Also, Wifey and I both have teh sick. Colds probably. She got sick a couple of days ago and yesterday I got a sore throat and by last night I was in sad shape.
2020 Chevy Colorado, 4x4, crew cab, smoke grey.
It has all kinds of bells and whistles that I am still trying to figure out. I can make calls from the dashboard display, and get maps and directions displayed.
The back seat is tight, but bigger than the extended cab.
I haven’t had 4wd in so long, nice to know you don’t have to get out to turn the hubs anymore.
I appreciate that it will tell me which tire is low on air, instead of me having to get out and guess. It will also tell me how much oil life I have left and some other stuff.
It has the backup camera, which to me seems pretty useless, but I hear I will love it once I get used to it. Doesn’t have the remote starter, which is nice on cold mornings.
It also doesn’t come with Sirius, which I had been planning on canceling, until I went crazy on the 10 minute drive to the dog park having to listen to regular radio. There is a way to get Sirius without their radio, but I have yet to call them to figure it out.
I thought the DJ chit chat was bad on Sirius… 10 minute ride to the park was one crappy song and many minutes of DJ chatter about Plenty of Fish’s new photo policy.
Ripple still isn’t fond of the new truck, higher for him to get in and out, and no running boards to make it easier for him. There is also not enough room for three in the front seat, so either he or my son will have to sit in the back, but at least there are normal seats back there.
It does have more power, which is nice.
It is also more comfortable to ride in, a lot smoother.
I like it.
Curtains are ironed and hung - they don’t look any different, but they’re not dusty, so yay!
I’ll do the windows tomorrow - just ran out of steam today.
Nice truck, sari! I’m sure Ripple will get used to it. Maybe you can get him a ramp? We’ve got a full-size Silverado and adding the step was about the best thing we did. The durn thing is HIGH and getting in was an adventure. I have to get a step stool if I want to get in the bed, which I generally don’t have to do. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
Sadly, I had to close the windows and turn on the air, but I think we can open things up later. I hope…
To Kill a Mockingbird is about to start on TCM. One of my very favorite movies, and it has one of my three favorite lines in all of film. “Stand up, Miss Jean Louse. Your father’s passing.”
That’s the same as the GMC Canyon innit?
Nice looking unit.
There’s a dealer down in McMinnville that has a passel of Canyons on his lot, all white. :dubious: It must be a popular fleet vehicle.
You’re gonna like the backup camera when you get used to it. Wifey’s Hyundai has one and now I wish my Scion had one.
I’d be interested to know if the mileage is anywhere close to the EPA estimate.
Wifey wants me to trade my Scion off for a 4x4 pickup as soon as we pay off the Hyundai. The Canyon is one that I was kinda looking at as a possibility.
