The thing I liked MOST about X-men 2. (spoilers)

I noticed that too. Cyclops is Xavier’s chauffeur, I guess? Dork.

I saw that, but it didn’t occur to me how funny it is until now. The security guys WERE pretty stupid.

Someone said it was out of character, but I just cracked up at this bit. The gay British actor and the supermodel. THAT must’ve been a fun plane ride; they probably spent the whole time ragging on everyone’s outfits. :stuck_out_tongue:

He sure was. Good job, too. I like that Sir Ian got to have some fun despite the “I’m bent on revenge” thing.

Completely sick. Might’ve been the coolest moment in the movie.

What I liked most?

Well, I liked that it was about 700 times better than X-men 1.
I loved alan cummings accent. I loved nightcrawler entirely in fact. Since IANpreviouslyAXMF I was fascinated by his character, one of the deepest ones portrayed in the filmic versions anyhow, what with his praying etc. I loved the great one-liners and the humor, like the cat at Bobbys house with Wolverine, and the tea and also the whole “We love what you’ve done with your hair” scene. I loved that Wolverines x-suit is boot-cut like his jeans. I loved the fineness, the words Jean Grey and the phrase “like a screen door in a Storm” keep popping into my head. I liked the fantasic effects and the numerous “showpiece scenes” such as the Oval Office attack and the Escape. I liked enough stuff that I regularly giggled with pure joy at various parts of the film. I was thoroughly entertained.

What I liked MOST was the question though…

What I liked MOST is that this was a total chickflick. I can’t right now think of another film where the girlies got to kick this much ass when there were actually boys around (so TombRaider doesn’t count for example).

  • Xavier sends off the girls to go get the “bad mutant” who “tried to kill the president”.
  • They also succeed (ok, turns out he was nice, but noone knew that going in).
  • The girls fly the plane.
  • When the plane is broke, the girls fix the plane.
  • Evilgirl is so fucking hardcore that Wolverine has to kill her (with a weapon no less) in order to survive (am I the only one that thought “Wolverine gave her the Hot Admantium Injection” at that scene?).
  • Other evilgirl is the one who gets sent off to fix the computery bits when they need to get into the dam.
  • Girly powers used (together with Nightcrawlers of course) to stop all the humans getting murderalised.
  • Girlie does the “sacrificing of self for good of friends” bit, saving the day for everyone, while the boys stand around all teary eyed after (I didn’t know till I got in here about the whole Phoneix thing, they put the house lights up when the water was onscreen, I just felt the ending left things very open and positive haha).

There were a couple of other things that also impressed me from that perspective. Very small things to feel grateful for perhaps, but it really did add to my enjoyment of the film. It felt like the girls were “just another x-men” and not there as sidekicks, or love interests (primarily) or eyecandy (primarily  ) or damsels in distress. I practically bounced out of the goddam cinema, it was a fabbo action flick, I want to see it again ASAP.

Wolverine’s clothing makes me think of the truckers I knew when I was a little kid travelling with my Dad in his 18-wheeler. Makes me think of the late '70s, first few years of the '80s. (This despite the fact that the truckers I knew were during the years 1987-1989, when I was 4 to 6 years old - I’ve always had this odd feeling of remembering the '70s, I don’t know why.) Was this a conscious decision on the part of the costuming department (he’s had those clothes for 15 years, after all, so since about the time I was riding around with my dad), or am I reading too much into it?
