The Third Annual Steelers March to the Super Bowl Thread

I thought it wasn’t the most impressive showing by either team, but we were pulling for the Steelers at the party I was at & even had a case of Iron City.

Congratulations Pittsburgh!

Speaking of Bradshaw, what the hell? He’s claiming he wasn’t there because “he wanted to stay home and watch the game with his family.” What a jackass.

I may have to cut my classes tomorrow so I can go to the victory parade. What an agonizing decision, because I’ve waited my whole life for this and yet I can’t blow school again.

Damn.

You will have to watch it on TV because I’ve got class. Sorry.

Or I could just bring Aaron with me. After all, he’s a budding Steelers fan.

He was singing this all week long.

I feel for you. I waited my entire life for a White Sox World Series, and I had one of those “miss this meeting at your own peril” meetings to attend the day of their parade.

sigh

I don’t know why, but somehow I figured his contract with Fox prevented him from being shown on an ABC broadcast. 'Course I just made that up as an excuse for him, but it was the only reasonable thing I could think of. But reasonable and Terry have never been close friends.

Doesn’t he suffer from depression? My mother said she heard somewhere that he’s bipolar.

Maybe that was it?

It appears to be a question of money. Joe Montana also apparently wanted more than was being offered.

And for (me) vindication of something I have known for years, the Pats may be the “Dynasty” but the Steelers are America’s team! Who cares about media markets, as Steeler fans have known for a long time, our team’s fans have no boundries.

Now Montana’s claiming he was attending his sons’ basketball games. Which, I could understand.

But c’mon, like he’s gonna admit it was for the money?

As much as I love being part of the Steeler nation, I will never use the term “America’s Team.” I despise when the Cowboys fans use it, and it will be a cold day in hell when I compare my Steelers to the Cowboys.

Cool to know about the ratings, though. Especially since the sports analysts were saying that ‘no one cares about this game.’ Sure, they don’t.

It is really strange, because he was in Detroit pimping his movie during the week. I guess he only wants to be with his family sometimes.

The sad thing is, he was talking to the WDVE morning show about how much he regrets the way he ended things in Pittsburgh, and how immature he was not to go to Art Rooney’s funeral even though he was like an adopted son. It was pretty touching and heartfelt, I though. Then he doesn’t show? Something strange going on there.

Actually, the Rooney family was approached by NFL Films in the 1970’s wanting to market the team as America’s team. This is long before the Cowboys started using that marketing term, and they got the idea after the Rooney’s turned it down.

Dan Rooney dismissed the idea totally, saying he had no interest in having the Steelers be America’s team. Being Pittsburgh’s team was good enough.

He didn’t show up for Rooney’s funeral? Damn, that’s cold.
How exactly did things end badly in Pittsburgh? He retired, didn’t he?
