The Tighty Righty Surge or A Plague of Trogs

Not rabble. But it restricts membership to the people who care enough to spend the money. And that’s not a bad thing. I know some people bitched and moaned about paying subscriptions, but I was never one of them. I’d just as soon we still were. Just as we don’t encourage fly-by posts, I’d rather we didn’t encourage fly-by posters.

Not you. You’re good rabble.

Where is Barking Spider?
He should be here.

The sheer volume of anti-McCain/Palin threads this last two weeks has been surprising, to me. It was intimidating.

For me (if I had felt like trying to defend the McCain side in one of those threads), I would have felt like I was painting a big fat target on my forhead, inviting a pile-on.

Perhaps, if you perceive an “increase” in conservative defenders, it is because of the (rightfully perceived or not) volume & passion of the Obama supporters in attacking Palin, and they circle the wagons and/or lash out back (plus, those conservatives have bigger 'nads than I do).

Hysterical right wingers… Trog… did Palin have another kid?

This board tilts left worse than the Tower of Pisa. The fact that there is even one thread that speaks ill of Hopey-Hopey-Change-Change is what they are calling a surge.

I, for one, would welcome more conservatives on this board. I’m always afraid that someone like **Bricker **is going to wake up one morning and say, “Aw, fuck it; I’m gonna quit hanging with that bunch of fucking loons.” But the baby Jesus will cry if he is replaced by someone like this. I doubt if you want people like that around, either, SA. They don’t really hold up the side. Here’s another of his gems, in case you’re still undecided.

No, DVDs of Lupin III Part II. They’ll have enough of a hard time figuring out what order to watch the series in as Pioneer put several episodes out of order, only released 79 of 155 episodes, and never put any volume numbers on the DVDs.

Uh, I guess since it went back to free posting the board is becoming more representative of the population at large.

I think “complete whackjob” is a more appropriate label than “conservative” there.

Known colloquially as a “**Carol Stream **conservative.”

I think that’s ridiculous. There are several conservatives I can think of who’ve been here for years and, AFAIK, are generally well thought of. At least I do, though I don’t agree with them usually.

Now, there’s no reason to drag Larry Craig into every discussion.

Why do people keep saying this?

Even when it was pay-to-pay, it cost the same $14.95 (or half) for everybody – tighty-righties and lefty-liberals. Either you’re suggesting conservatives have been poorer than liberals (nice choice in voting for your interests if the fiscal policies of the last few years that you thoughtwould make you wealthier didn’t), or we’re seeing a bunch of new posters who now see a chance to give pixel-wedgies at no charge to them to those on a left-leaning board who wouldn’t have done so when that privilege cost them something.

Even if you’re suggesting that there are conservatives showing up now who didn’t want to pay for the privilege of being shouted down or drowned out, that wouldn’t happen anyway, pay or not, if they had someting reasonable, thoughtful and not-off-the-talking-points-bulletin-board to say, and could hold their own with regard.

For me, what really changed this from “just another election that I want my side to win” to “a pitched battle for the heart of this country that my side must win” was the choice of Sarah Palin as the Republican vice presidential candidate. If McCain had chosen anyone else, you would not see nearly this much emotion.

I am totally fed up with these interlocking notions that a life in politics is the Eighth Deadly Sin, and that a “reg’lar guy” or “reg’lar gal” from Pioneer Country is an equally viable choice for the grave responsibilities of national office as someone with degrees from high-falutin’ liberal universities.

I’ve noticed them showing up lately too and only one or two of them have even attempted to add anything coherent to the discussion. And it’s not about the number/type of threads, it’s what’s being said individual posts and how it’s being said.

So, do I take it that you are happy with the Harvard guy that’s been in office for the past eight years? Is that why the demmies have nominated another Harvard guy, because the last one did so well?

Point of information: G. W. Bush is a Yale grad, not Hahvahd.

And I doubt that Obama was a legacy.

Nothing the rest of the world didn’t already know:

How Can 59,054,087 people be so dumb?
Just hope the other half has grown just a tad since…if not, stick your head between your legs and kiss your dumb ass goodbye.

Trust me, it won’t be easy, but the world will go on without all you ignorant, parochial, “all-American” fucks.

Chuck Taylors are but a relic.

Won’t happen. We fight ignorance here…even if some are simply recalcitrant in the face of facts and reason.

Like you for instance.

I supect that if your fossils finaggle some sort of suspect “victory” this Board will be, more than ever akin to “Red Dawn.”
