I have nothing to add to what others have said but do want to wish you good luck.
How awful. I hope your insurance co. takes care of you. Glad you’re okay!
Holee shit! Glad to hear you’re, well, alive and shit! Sorry about all your stuff, though - that’s rough.
I trust that your next 'surprise’Jolly Roger is at the other end of the scale where you find things you were certain you’d never see again.
Sometimes facing immortality is a good thing. Hope it was for you and your wife. Good to hear everyone survived unscathed.
That’s amazing! This is story you’ll tell your grandkids. I lived in Oklahoma for 30 years and barely saw a tornado once, from a distance. I was terrified by them. I remember the TV taped announcer giving the instructions with the line “listen for the roar, seek shelter immediately”. That ‘roar’ part scared me something fierce.
A while back when that big tornado hit Moore Oklahoma and OKC, that same day hit Haysville KS. My two sisters lived in Moore and Haysville. But everyone was fine.
Where did you get Civ 7 btw?
Holy crap. Glad to hear you and your loved ones are safe.
That’s terrible. I hope things get back to normal for you soon.
I am so sorry. Really glad you’re OK, though.
I’m still waiting to hear from friends in Charlotte and the Raleigh/Durham area.
Jolly Roger I’m sorry for your loss but like others have said, glad you all and the cats are safe and sound. I know dogbutler also mentioned surviving the tornado in Raleigh/Durham.
Good luck with the insurance. If Mrs. JR gives you any grief about a man cave in the new digs, just remind her “man caves save lives!”
Wow! I’m so glad to hear you, your wife and kitties are all OK.
Omigod, how horrible! Saying a quick prayer of thanks that you and your wife (and the cats) are all okay.
You were playing Civ 7?!
Holy shit, that’s amazing that everyone lived to tell the tale. I can’t imagine surviving a direct hit AND finding all the cats safe and sound. You are one lucky dude. Hopefully the insurance and rebuilding process is also relatively painless.
Oh my goodness, that must have been terrifying! I would still be in shock. So glad the things that mattered most (i.e. you, your wife, and cats) made it through the disaster. I hope you can get back to some semblance of normality real soon.
Sorry and I’m happy to hear that you (and all cats) are fine.
I had a cat that survived an apartment fire. She was never really the same afterwards.
You did the right things in the moment and you and your loved ones are safe. The rest is just stuff. Hopefully some of the sentimental items are salvageable, but even if not you still have the memories.
Be safe, rest when you need it - not everything has to be done today, and let others do for you what you would want to do for them.
Holy crap, I would have freaked out! Good job staying levelheaded enough to get to safety!
Possibly a silly question, but I honestly don’t know how it works - how do you get your stuff out if the place is condemned and you’re not allowed inside? Do you need to wait for someone to come and go through with you? I hope you’re able to find a few important bits and pieces intact and to rebuild quickly.
What a frightening thing to go through! I’m so sorry, but I’m glad you came away with your lives, and the lives of your pets.
So glad you, the wife, and the kitties are okay.
USAA is a fantastic insurance company, and they take very, VERY good care of their policy holders. They are lickety-split. The slow down will be finding a new home or rebuilding. Good luck to you.
So glad to hear y’all and the kitties are all ok.
I’ve heard that a tornado sounds like a freight train, coming at the house, but it sounds like it happened faster than I visualize. This is one thing I worry about. I haven’t been through a tornado but it’s a real possibility here. The first tornado to ever hit a downtown area was here in Fort Worth.
When I was in HS, my church youth group went to Wichita Falls to help with cleanup after a major tornado. There were houses that were just gone, except maybe for one closet or bathroom in the middle of the house. (Then there was the guy who used our help to remove all seven layers of shingles that he had on his roof. )
