The coughing, sniffling, sneezing MMP

Looks like I may have to unretire in order to pay for all the tissues we’ve run thru this past week! I don’t know what kind of bug we picked up in the evil so-called Sunshine State, but it’s persistent. Unfailingly, if I should say “I think I’m over the cough,” I’ll immediately be hacking up a lung.

Not amused.

So, keep your distance and toss me a box of tissues, please.

Yeah, yeah, Happy Moanday. :stuck_out_tongue:

First! It’s good to be juvenile!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. ‘Tis 36 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 68 and N.O.S. for the day. Today we shall spiff da cave and who knows what else. Sup shall be poke roast with side matter TBD. Some errands may get run, or not. Part of the fun of retirement is gettin’ to be willy-nilly.

MOOOOOOM hope you’re feelin’ better soonest. Until then, stay away! :stuck_out_tongue:

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

DH and the Princess seem rather invested in keeping me awake the last few days. This does not work well with having to report for jury duty today. I also get the dubious joy of dealing with public transit today (parking near the courthouse, even in juror lots, and traffic in that part of town are bad enough that transit will be the less annoying choice).

I also get to try to find time to contact a state agency notorious for being basically impossible TO get in touch with. This is because I lost claim paperirk and will have to beg for duplicates so I can file and get some money.

On the plus side, no Dry Pool Olympic Diving Team today.

On the

Good morning everyone. Up and on my second cup of coffee. Tried to watch the news, but nothing beyond the typical Trump bad, world bad, don’t you dare be happy cuz that’s bad, buy things, and the everpresent ongoing neverending constant breathless revelation that the Dallas Cowboys, umm, something. So I turned it off and made breakfast.

This week I’m even retired from retirement. The entire family is on the other side of the world, and my only real chore is a quick cleanup before the missus returns. Other than that it’s fun projects, netflix, and experimenting with new smoker recipes. The final elements of my new anchor rode and rope arrived 2 days ago and have been installed in the windlass. The new hot tub pump arrived yesterday, and I will install it to replace the leaking one today – allowing me glorious (alone) spa time just as cold weather arrives in N Texas.

All in all it’s another glorious Monday. Rapidly becoming my favorite day of the week.

I’ve had a chronic cough for about a year now. Not much fun. It isn’t too much of a problem, except that I haven’t been to too many classical music concerts.

And my first day of grandmothering began with a majorly poopy diaper. Then Roxy had her oatmeal-n-blueberries, staining her shirt and pants with the berries. Even if the stains don’t come out, it’s not a huge deal - at the rate she’s growing, those clothes won’t fit her in a couple of months anyway!

In a little bit, I need to disconnect the DVR and take it to be exchanged. The sound keeps cutting out for a split second at a time, and the video briefly pixellates. Very annoying. So that’ll be today’s errand. And we can stop for bananas on the way back.

Good times!

Problems problems. I was supposed to go to jury duty but had to call and beg for a postponement. My hubby is not doing well at this time. I guess he is back in AFib. We have an appointment in Miami on Wed if he can hold out that long. I took the day off cause I don’t want to leave him alone. Any of you praying sorts please think of us.

Butters, I am not praying sort, but I will send good thoughts you and hubby’s way. Hope it’s something minor.

FCM, at least one good thing about having a cold, the poopy diaper probably doesn’t smell as bad…

Welcome to the retirement club, pullin. Lots of us here.

Have fun at jury duty, Nettie

Now need to continue to pack stuff away for the great re-flooring/repainting later this month. Think I’ll call the Rescue Mission to see if they want to pick up about 70% of my furniture (the rest they can have right before the painters come in).

All y’all take care.

Happy Moonday!

It’s a partly cloudy 45 degrees outside. Supposed to get up 48 later today.

I need to do a load of laundry today, and I took out a pork roast to make for dinner. There are other things that need to be done, which I may or may not get to.

I wish I could do laundry today. The laundromat I used to go to was a dump last time I was there, so I haven’t been back. I do have some opportunities to go elsewhere and do laundry, so I have to take advantage of those.

Roxy is napping and I’m attempting to book a cruise for next month. The agent I spoke to was having a hard time finding the code, so he said he’d call me back. I hope it can happen - $459 per person for 8 nights is a pretty doggone good deal… Fingers crossed.

The Daughter has the runny nose, hack up a lung snots. When we went to Rite-Aid to get yet another remedy, the entire cough-and-cold section was empty, with tumbleweeds rolling along the shelves.

I got this urge to make asafoetida bags…
~VOW

Apparently it *was *too good a deal. The agent and his supervisor checked out everything they could think of, but the best fare they could find was $714. Still a good deal, but more than we’d hoped. He said they’d do some more investigating and he flagged the cruise to call me if they figure it out. But for now, dammit. :stuck_out_tongue:

Mooommmm, yeah, $459 is insanely low, that’s about $58.50 per person per night, that’s Motel 6 rates. $714 is $89.25 or $178.50 per night for the both of you, which still isn’t half bad. Hope they can find that lower one for you.

Midget, I’m not using my washer and dryer today…of course I’m 1,200 miles away so that doesn’t help much…hope you can find a local place you like.

Vow, hope you don’t catch the kid’s bug, but I know families and they tend to pass the cold around the house during this season…

Have had my Monday Jersey Mike’s sub, and am going through a bunch of old notebooks and handouts that are 35-40 years old. Most are going to the recycle bin, I think I’ll hold onto the Constitution of the US (which is dwarfed by the Constitution of the State of Ohio) and a packet of 50 old editorial cartoons from my short teaching career.

N.O.S. today. Tomorrow it’s supposed to rain. Life in Ali-bama…

Don’t forget your life raft, flares and MREs. And shark repellent.

Tease.

Oh, god. Havn’t thought of those bags in years. My ol’Granny swore by them. I avoid the cough and cold aisles. Too many airborn germs flying around:eek:
Had a meeting with the dietician, today but she cancelled about the time I was walking out the door. She said she’s emailing me a diet sheet. I will look at it and toss it. Nutritionist at the diabetic clinic fosters more respect from me.
Gotta hit the library this afternoon. Lady Librarian texted me. She wants to talk to me. I bet she needs a volunteer. I’m really not able to commit. I’ll hear her out.
Mom, ~VOW, all you sickos get healed up.

This morning the Siameezers woke me up with their normal howls, I fed, I pee’d, I drank a glucerna and went back to bed. Dogs never moved. Ah, like the good old days.

Going to Walmart this afternoon. Ugh!

I think I’m finally over whatever viral plague I caught over 2 weeks ago. My son started back to school today and was actually happy to go.
Other than that, I’m wrestling with a headache and the electrician is coming by to check some lights we’re having trouble with.

You could make some extra money for that house rehab by taking in laundry, though the shipping charges might be kinda high. How well do you fold?

Smart decision; you know what the first three letters of DIEt spell.
I was sitting at home last night when I hear a THWAP. I know what that sound is; I have one less uninvited border. I get up & walk into the other room & it’s still kicking away. I laughed* & then went downstairs to get a glove (since it was still alive). By the time I came up, he had stopped moving. I pick up the trap & there’s a blob of blood on the floor. F’er. It got a burial [del]at sea[/del] trash bag.

  • I’ve told this before but…we had mice at irk. I come in one morning & find a dead one, in one of the two traps under my desk. I call the receptionist to let the [del]undertaker[/del] building (one engineer & one maint guy) come & collect the body.
The engineer comes in, “Who’s got a mouse?”
    Me: I do.
Engineer: (crawls under my desk) I don’t see anything.
Me: No, it’s behind the file cabinet.
Engineer: (crawls under desk again) I don’t see anything.
Me: Move out of the way. (crawls under desk) It’s gone! There were two traps there, one with a dead (or so I thought) mouse in it.

At this point no one is willing to sit at their desk with their feet on the floor as we all think there’s some Incredible Hulk mouse walking around with an attitude, a headache, & a trap on it’s head!
(It wans’t until hours later that we found out the maint guy had come in the few secs I got up to go pee. Since he had placed them, he knew where they were. He snuck in, grabbed it, & snuck out w/o anyone realizing he was there. Still don’t know why this request was routed to both of their queues instead of just one.
