The Tragic Story of pro-golfer Ken Green

For those that don’t know Ken Green, he was been a journeyman player on the PGA Tour in the 80’s and 90’s. He won a few tournaments, and represented the US in the Ryder Cup, a premier team event against Europe.

He was known as a ‘rebel’ and a goof ball on tour. He marched to a beat of a different drummer, and often went ‘against the establishment.’

Fast Forward to June 2009, Ken was trying to make a living on the Champions Tour, a tour for PGA golfers who are age 50 and above. He was in his RV along I-20 near Meridian Mississippi and got into a horrible wreck. His brother (the driver) was killed in the wreck, as was his girlfriend and his German Shepherd. Ken was critically injured, the Doctors had to amputate his lower right leg.

Fast Forward to January 2010. Ken Green was featured in HBO’s real sports. He is working hard with a prosthesis to get his golf game back to a competitive level in a inspirational story.

Fast Forward to today, Jan. 22, 2010. Ken Green 21 yr old son, Hunter, is found dead in his dorm room at SMU. Cause of death has not yet been determined.

May God Bless Ken Green. and Hunter RIP.

That is sad. Some families have more than their fair share of tragedy.

I don’t mean to be completely insensitive, but his son’s name was Hunter Green? Really? Did he have sisters named Olive and Kelly?

I should have provided links to the stories

Son’s death

One of the stories that I read said that Hunter was in middle name. FWIW.
