The Trick or Treat MMP

I wanna make sure you look spiffy when you go out so I bought you a nice jacket to wear. You’re welcome. :stuck_out_tongue:
Time to prepare dinner; daid bovine shall be the main course tonight.

Everyone is wearing a soccer mask with them this year.

So I had to go in on my day off. Happy Monday? Making baked fried chicken with paprika potato wedges and Mexican street corn. I don’t get Trick or Treaters at my place. I assume The Invisible Mole People eat them.:(

{{{{wiki}}}} I’m sorry for your loss. But glad Auntie could help with the car.

baker, the last fifteen-twenty years of my mother’s life, she depended upon my dad because she became legally blind and the dementia had set in. When she passed, it was a relief in a way, because by then, she was in a lot of pain as well. Twenty years of taking care of her aged my dad a lot. Little Bro lives about half an hour away from him, but the rest of us are 150-2300 miles away. Bubby takes care of some of the practical stuff (my former stepson, BIL and nephew pitch in as well) like putting in /out the window units in the spring -and fall and re-roofing the kitchen last summer, baby Sis helps him juggle medical appointments and with his finances (he’s still sharp enough to make decisions, but she does the practical side), Sis in Houston and I do other little things for him ( I help him market the crates he makes) and Sis in LA chimes in with layperson explanations for medical stuff (she holds nursing licenses in several states). Right now, he has a home health aid who assists him with bathing and a cleaning lady once a week. Still, we’re (he and us kids) are looking at assisted living. Personally, I think he’d like having more of a social life. He lives in a town of 1000 and has quit driving after dark, so he doesn’t get out a lot.

metal mouse, if you live anywhere around a university, putting usable furniture to the curb is a dandy way to have it hauled away for free.

Living in an apartment complex that consists of studios, 1 and 2 bedroom units in a suburban neighborhood, we don’t get many ToTers. :frowning: Still, I keep a nice selection of stickers for costumed guests. When I was a kid in the late sixties through the mid seventies, ToT was two nights, 6-9. We’d hit the north end of town on the first night and downtown and the east side the second (the west and south sides had houses that were too far apart). The downtown merchants always had good treats and the dentist down the street passed out full sized packs of sugarless gum and toothbrushes. The local elementary school always had an event on the second evening as well, with carnival games and a costume contest. It was a lot of fun.

We celebrated Halloween at irk today. I went as a witch (as usual). Because they were negligent about communicating when the costuming would be, it was decided that Wednesday would also be a dress day.

We always buy a lot of candy, and give away very little. So, off to the office it goes, where I hear, “Oh my god, I shouldn’t eat this…maybe a piece or two…” then it’s gone in a day.
Played dress-up at the Bears game this weekend, so I got Halloween covered.

Wow.
I was recently diagnosed with IBS, and the doctor said I might be somewhat lactose intolerant as well. Folks, be glad tonight that you don’t live with me. Let’s just say, the way I am tonight, I give dogs a run for their money.

Emily, at least you’re getting medical views (and hopefully treatment) that will help you. And I like dogs…

Soccer under the lights tonight, the girls did good, winning 5-1 so I treated myself to my October 5 Guys Burger and Fries. Now to get ready for boys game tomorrow.

Also got the CD’s and Floppy’s mailed off to recycling, and turned in my old printers to Staples, and found out that Best Buy will take my old VCR for recycling, so I have been doing good. Now if someone would find a use for my old VCR tapes…

Probably should mow the lawn one more time, but it’s not looking too shaggy and they don’t pickup clippings until Moanday…so I’ll probably talk myself out of it.

Red, there’s a group called The Saving Way that got some of my furniture when I was remodeling, so I’ll probably give them first crack at it. But yeah, if I put them on the curb, I suspect they won’s be there long.

swampy, I found in 34 years of work that the chair of the meeting really dictates how the meeting will go; if they are organized, know where they want the meeting to go, and keep it on track, it goes well; unfortunately there are not many like that (I wasn’t, except sporadically)

Spidey, That dog/spider would have scared the crap out of me. I’ve thought about spending money for maybe 2 hours of use a year, I’d get one of those T-Rex suits to answer the door with.

Sorry to hear about the IBS, midget. I’ve got that too. It can be a real pain. Once I learned the diet triggers, it got much better. I hope you get your situation managed quickly.

I was very sad. Someday the Dodgers will actually win the Series again. :frowning:

I grew up in central LA, but it was pretty similar. We trick or treated until dinner. When we were very young, we didn’t go back out after dark. When we were older, we went out again.

These days, I notice the very young kids started while it’s still light (and we did this with our kids too). Everyone over toddler age waits until about sunset, and then they start. The sullen teens start later, and I’m usually out of candy, which is fine.

This is my first time for ToT and Halloween at this house, so I have no idea how it will go. I have a bunch of mixed candy ready to go, and we’re sending the kids to go around with my nieces, who live nearby.

I got my MiL moved into her new place yesterday. She’s in an assisted living section at a local retirement home. So far, she loves it. Lots of people to talk to, food availability like being on a cruise, lots of activities. She’s very happy.

Thanks.
I like dogs too, but I don’t know anyone who likes dog farts.

I do! It makes it easier to blame said canine for --------- other odors. So if you have IBS AND a dog you are free and clear!

And be glad you weren’t in a 53 foot trailer with me tonight. I had halupki and halushki for lunch after chili for dinner last night. My one coworker may never be seen again. He walked away saying something about something not being worth $15 an hour.

Spidey if you score one on clearance AND will be in our area let me know and remind me. I have almost as much fog and bubble solutions in the coal cellar as I do explosives. Almost. I can set you up for the foreseeable future.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 48 Amurrkin out and dark (TWPTB say clear, but it’s too dark to tell) with a predicted high of 79 and N.O.S. for the day. Temps will creep back into the low to mid 80s for highs for a few days startin’ tomorrow. Fall in these parts never quite makes up its mind to actually be Fall. This mornin’ I shall head over to the church house to assist with puttin’ out pine straw around the buildin’s, in front, the memory garden, and around the sides of the buildin’s, i.e. places where we have shrubbery and other plants. ‘Tis part of the spiff up prior to convention next week. The buildin’s got pressure washed last week. I forgot to mention that the tree removal folks have removed all the fallen pee-kahn trees. They did a great job with both tree and stump removal. Whilst in town, I shall take care of a couple things and make a run by :eek:Wally Jr.. Then back to da cave to begin laundry. Boxed lasagna, sallit, and cheesey garlic bread shall be supped upon. Also this afternoon someone is comin’ to take a look at the fence. Time to begin the chore of gettin’ estimates for replacement. Rah.

Spidey don’t be ridiculous! Me, wear sump’n straight? It is to laugh. :stuck_out_tongue:

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I should purtify and don appropriate bein’ seen about the public attire. Such bother!

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Two days from November and the weather here has been all over the place already. Normally it doesn’t start getting really hot until late-November or even mid-December, but this week it’s going to hit over 30°C (86°F). I think this means the hot summer you guys had in the northern hemisphere will follow through with us here in the south too. It’s gonna be a scorcher!

Good morning! Tell me - why would I dream that I had to build a diorama for work? I’ll blame the generic Nyquil…

Just another day in paradise, I guess. I’ve had a low pressure warning light in the car since last Firday and I checked the tires last night - they’re all between 27-29 psi - a little on the low side, I guess. I should probably stop on the way home and air 'em up! Always something.

Happy Tuesday!

Up, caffeinated, and shveled. Just gotta go in to work for a few hours. Hockey tonight.

Dunno, Gordie once let one rip that was so bad, he had to flee the room. Glad you got a diagnosis about the IBS.

[Frank Sinatra]But there’s no nicer witch than you…[/Frank Sinatra]

:dubious:
Nobody needs that much bubble solution.

Ruble, are you sucking up to the big boss? You DO know that his rockets are going to be powered with natural gas fuel…

That’s pretty much de rigueur in Northern Wisconsin. Either you buy the costume 3 sizes too big so they can fit layers of warmth underneath or you put a coat on over it. I’d say at least 9 years out of 10 it’s too cold to go trick or treating without a coat. My daughter is going to have glitter all over the inside of her coat since her princess dress is glittery… but it’s going to be cold. And my son’s costume will be all but invisible once his coat goes on: he’s Superman, but without the top showing, he just looks like he’s wearing blue and red pajama pants. Oh well. He’ll be seen at daycare.

Red, sounds like fun to dress up twice! I’m kind of wondering what the “dress up” situation is at my work. I don’t think people will wear full costumes, but would it be out of place to wear a witch hat fascinator? I’ll find out on Wednesday, I guess.

::gives midget skritches under the chin:: :o

I have a gallon + of fog juice (do you need bubble solution also?) & about ¾ gallon of fake blood in the basement; though I’ve made very realistic looking blood in the past.

Wait, are you sayin’ you’re GAY???

Think how much the dogs will enjoy it when we set up a bubbler just upwind of flytrap’s house.
doggio will be happy to know I am wearing a hockey jersey at irk today (because I’m OOO tomorrow).

Nah, we don’t have any pets at the apartment - roomie is allergic. But Roomie has a big stuffed dog. I think her nephew once tried to blame something on the stuffed dog. :stuck_out_tongue:

blurf Today is Business Process Review day at the weekly manager meeting. I am not looking forward and will be so glad when it is over. Speaking in front of a room full of people is not my forte. Stupid Burp. Yes, That’s what they are calling it. Stupid Navy with its acronyms.

Happy Toosday!

Actually the day did not start off well, with me cussing at the computer, the cell phone, the land line, the irk log in system, the dog, and the cat. Even my son annoyed me, but I don’t cuss at him.

Now the sun is shining, so that makes it a little bit better.

I have to call the college today, oh joy and happiness, because he can’t register for his spring classes because the college says we owe them money, only not yet, we owe them future money. Went through this before where I kept getting bills from them even though his grants and scholarship more than cover everything. So one place says we owe them and another place says they owe us.
They need to get their shit together.
I’m still pissed about the whole textbook screw up, where we bought a book from the college that didn’t come with the access code and had to put out additional money for that, and another book that we could have gotten 20% off if we had waited until after classes started to buy it.

I don’t want to call them, I don’t want to talk to them, I just want them to get it right.

The dog and cat were supposed to go to the vet yesterday. I made an appoinment online. I called to verify and they tell me that the online system for setting up appointments doesn’t work. Then WTF do you have it? Or put a damn notice on it that it is not working.
The vet will check Ripple tomorrow while he is in daycare.
I think I’ll just take the cat to the clinic at the animal shelter, will be a lot a cheaper that way.

For some reason, first the cat, and now the dog, think that sitting on my pillows is a good thing. Do they really think I want to put my face where they put their butts?
I’m glad I have a lot of pillow cases, and like TP, one can never have too much bleach.
