The Trump Administration: A Clusterfuck in the Making

The people who voted for him don’t want that. Or care about that. The same people who say he is doing a good job in the polls. I don’t know what is so surprising about that.

Well, I didn’t want a clusterfuck so clusterfucky that we needed 20,000 posts in the first year and a third…

Democracy?

Why not? Something to do, anyway

I’m not certain how we no longer have Democracy, but if you say so.

Just this morning over breakfast I called this place “cheap therapy”…

This is not really true. 538 has his poll numbers quite steadily looping around 40% since around StonemanDouglas Day. There might be an uptick, but the next upfuck is just right around the corner.

To have a functioning democracy, you need to have certain things that we don’t seem to have right now:

(1) Leaders who at least make some attempt at some level of veracity in their statements.

(2) A citizenry a strong majority of whom are not a bunch of ignorant dumb f-cks willing to believe any lies that they are fed.

I am sure people here can add on to the list.

Strange. I thought to have a Democracy, there needed to be a mechanism for the citizens to vote for their choice of who they want to run the government.

I’m pretty sure the basic theory was for those elected to actually represent the interests of those who elected them, but that ship sailed as soon as it became clear that the best source of income for a politician wasn’t the wage paid by their electorate.

Yeah, and if one side gets more votes, they win! Well, sometimes.

A lot of people confuse “having democracy” with “having a functioning and fair government”, somehow unaware that “idiots voting for idiots” and the tyranny of the majority has always been known as dangers of this form of government.

Most democratic systems have been designed to reduce the risks, but there are none that are proof against a misinformed and malignant electorate.

Sure, but that didn’t just start in 2016.

Because greed has a cap, a guy who has ten million dollars has enough, and will not debase himself or his country to have twenty million. This is why so many of our Founding Fuckups believed that public officials should not be paid, because government is best when its controlled by gentlemen of property and substance.

By a happy coincidence, themselves.

After all the recent news about Trump’s physicians, here is a recent (and hilarious) health update.

I and others have mentioned the economy, but apparently his voters care more “status threat”.

better music

In the 1970s, I had to buy my Annette Hanshaw and Ruth Etting recordings on reprint LPs for $4-5 apiece. Now I listen to them on Spotify for free.

And I’ll - oops - he’ll live to 200, the greatest longevity ever!

DISinformed, please. Our problem isn’t that the facts aren’t readily available. Our problem is that it’s in the interest of several segments of our polity to make sure the people are fed false information and encouraged to swallow it hook, line and sinker.

The Bill of Rights is part of the Bible now?
