On a lighter not, a high school valedictorian in a Kentucky school about 70 miles north of Knoxville put a DJT quote in his speech to the graduating class,
Don’t just get involved. Fight for your seat at the table. Better yet, fight for a seat at the head of the table.
who responded by cheering enthusiastically,
during which he said that he was joking, that was actually Obama,

That was great. I wouldn’t take bets against him getting death threats now for that, though.
Trump disinvited the Philadelphia Eagles to the White House, after some of them said they would not be going.
Yes, under the reasoning that they didn’t/wouldn’t stand for the Anthem. Only thing is…

NFL source notes that not one of the players on the Super Bowl-winning Eagles took a knee all regular and post-season.
Until November, Malcolm Jenkins raised his fist during the anthem to protest racial injustice. In pre-season Ron Brooks took a knee but he was cut.
Source.
He is getting himself into a corner. We should keep helping him work his way in there until he has no room to move. Just crowd in against him until he becomes immobilized, with not even the room to go crazy like a cornered animal. Eventually he will be that guy in old Salem who was under the board piled with rocks having the demons pressed out of him, whose last words were “more weight ”.
I mean we can think happy thoughts, at least.
Most of my internet seems abuzz with this story:
Giuliani says statement on meeting was ‘a mistake’
Giuliani said during an appearance on CNN that “it was a mistake” and rejected the idea that it was a lie. He adds: “I have no idea how they got it wrong, but they got it wrong.”
A January letter from Trump’s lawyers to the special counsel investigating Russian meddling says Trump “dictated a short but accurate response” about the meeting.
That directly contradicted White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders. She said in August that Trump “certainly didn’t dictate” the letter. Trump lawyer Jay Sekulow said in July that “the president was not, did not, draft the response.”
Sarah Sanders Finally Got Caught in a Brazen Lie
When Mueller’s investigation wraps up, this Sanders statement may not matter all that much—certainly it will matter less than what was said at that meeting and whatever other communications campaign officials had with Russians. But in the spirit of not shrugging off what used to be regarded as misconduct, we should mark this moment. The president lied, the press secretary lied on his behalf, it was shown that they lied, and they shrugged it off with a no comment. “This is not normal” long ago became a cliche, but it’s now been replaced by a new one: This is now normal, and that’s the problem.
'Twas my very first thought.
Always look on the blight side of life!

Loser Donald’s last words, of course, would be “Unfair! SAD!”

I am wryly amused by the last line of this paragraph:
Jackson has been nominated for a second star. Now that his nomination has been withdrawn, he would have to be confirmed for the second star by the Senate or put in for retirement. If he retires, it would have to be determined by the Navy when he last served honorably and he would retire at that level.
“When he last served honorably” - now **there’s **a interesting question…
I thought y’all might like to read this :
Trump said in a statement Monday that some Eagles players “disagree with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart, in honor of the great men and women of our military and the people of our country.”
He said the team wanted to send a smaller delegation Tuesday, but “the 1,000 fans planning to attend the event deserve better.”
None of the Eagles took a knee during the anthem in 2017.
Apparently only about half the team planned on going to the White House anyway. But here’s the money quote (helpfully bolded):
Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney replied with his own statement, saying that he is “equally proud of the Eagles’ activism off the field” and that the players “represent the diversity of our nation — a nation in which we are free to express our opinions.”
"Disinviting them from the White House only proves that our President is not a true patriot, but a fragile egomaniac obsessed with crowd size and afraid of the embarrassment of throwing a party to which no one wants to attend ,” Kenney said.
I think the real issue is that Trump is mad because the players are smarter than he is:

Yeah, but his office is an oval.
“George Papodopoulos’s wife asks president to pardon her husband.”
And so begins the grand pardon parade.
He did also officially declare the narrative that it is also disrespectful to stay in the locker rooms.
So the work around that the owners came up with has already been condemned by trump, and so also by his jingoistic followers that think that humping a flag is the height of patriotism, and that protest is treason.
Because he is good. Very, very good. The best!
An NFL reporter is saying that only 2-3 players were attending . And the mascot.
So, Trump rejected the Eagles the same way that I rejected all the prettiest girls at prom time.
Eric Trump bemoans the fact that his father’s life has become exponentially worse since he announced his candidacy. Twitter agrees that their lives have become worse, too.
