I don’t see any indication in the article that the owner was impolite or disrespectful when she asked Sanders to leave. And Sanders is the one airing this in public. That says more about Sanders than it does about the owner of the restaurant.
People who don’t already refer to Occupy White House as “liar” will not start doing so. If anything, they will double down on the falsehoods. Just a while ago, I checked my fb feed. Yep, a relative who supports OWH reposted that BS about Jane Fonda getting POWs punished. Why did he repost it? She’s not a trumper. In their world, those that call out the liar are the evil ones.
Remember how right after the election there was that app that changed thump’s face to a kitten’s face every time he showed up? I want an app that changes every euphemism/synonym for LIE to the word LIE in an item about thump no matter where it appears.
How about simply changing the words “said” and “tweeted” to “lied,” whenever those words follow “Trump”?
Sanders’ use of her official Press Secretary account for this personal business is an actual violation of an actual policy:

This comes from the former director of the Office of Government Ethics, Walter Shaub, who knows what he’s talking about.
Nice for SHS that she works in a White House in which no one is held accountable for their violations of policies and laws, I guess.
Excellent idea!
Good god yes. I work for county government. GIS. We do maps. Many people start with us to identify any boundary descriptions.
I’ll certainly give them all the data we have. And it is heavily disclaimered. It’s only so accurate. When asked for a recommendation for a surveyor, engineer or title company… we just don’t go there. We can’t and won’t. It’s not the job of government to recommend a private company. To use my ‘creds’ as a county employee to get anything would have this 25 year employee SEVERLY reprimanded. If not shown the door.
As it should be.
“We don’t serve your kind here.”
Still and all, the Washington Post piece is merely an op-ed essay. Paul Krugman (for one) has been calling the short-fingered vulgarian a liar in his column since forever.
When an actual NEWS ARTICLE says “President Lies about the Refugee Situation/North Korea/his Dick Size” in the headline, THEN I will stand up and salute the print media.
The official line that I’ve heard (on NPR, I think) is that “lie” indicates intent, and a reputable journalist can’t always judge the speakers intent. FWIW.
It seems that the ones holding to that official line are ignoring what a reputable journalist told them about Trump:
Actually, the 3rd sentence calls out the lie in the 4th sentence.
Sarah, you weren’t asked to leave because you’re a Republican; you were asked to leave because you’re a horrible person.
:smack:
2nd not 3rd. 3rd not 4th. I can’t count tonight, apparently.
Let me tell you a story. I worked with these two guys, I will call them Buck and Tom, who were decent, competent, hell, I would call them friends. This was in the early '90s, and they started every evening (we worked graveyard) coming up to tell me the thing that Rush said on the radio today. I put up with it for too long, because I otherwise liked Tom, and Buck was the shift supervisor over me. Finally one evening they came to say, “Did you hear about what Rush said this morning” to which I replied, “who?” And that was that. We were friends and worked well together, but they got it, and I never again heard about the big fat idiot from them.
So that is what I want from the media. “Today the Whitehouse issued an official statement that said some stuff. We cannot tell you what that stuff was because (it was utter bullshit) and our policy is to present accurate information. There was a three car pileup on highway 9 just outside of Elixir Falls, with the driver and passenger of the Smart Car now in ICU with serious injuries …”
I mean, dammit, beg the media, PDNFTFT.
Seems rather dangerous to me to ignore what the President of the United States says, no matter how buffoonish and mendacious he is.
That kind of stuff was better before the election. Kinda too late for it now.
ETA: plus, with lack of reporting, it gives his supporters and their media sources the best opportunity to define the narrative.
Hey; yeah. :smack: I forgot to add my voice to the chorus but that was an excellent post, wintertime; thank you.
I heartily applaud the restauranteur who kicked Sanders out on her flabby ass. The same should be done to any child molester, which is what Trump and his ilk have turned out to be when you get right down to it.
- restaurateur
We don’t know if administration officials got kicked out or restaurants or if that’s just something that Trump administration officials are pretending happened this week. Let’s face it; this is the kind of lies they tell routinely. As far as I’m concerned, it’s fake news until I see it confirmed by somebody from outside the administration who’s credible.
At this point, I’d be too worried about staff spitting in my food if I were them. I’d just eat at home.
