The Trump Administration: A Clusterfuck in the Making

My brother-in-law owns 2 Harleys and can’t stand Trump. Ergo, Trump is an ignoramus. QED.

It is The Handmaid’s Tale, because the “handmaiden’s tail” would be, um, something certain critter would be liking to grab.

Indeed. This common notion among conservative scum that Chump is masterfully playing a game of three-dimensional chess is beyond ludicrous. Again, elections have consequences, and this is all the fault of every single voter who stayed at home on election day 2016 who would have voted Democratic and anyone who voted a third party. You all had better be very glad there really is no Hell, because there would indeed be a special place for you there.

To be fair, it is also the fault of the people that voted for trump.

You left out 1st place on the Blame Podium- those that voted for Trump. I hear you about the home-stayers, but blame where blame is due.

Yes, yes, of course. I just thought that went without saying, like the sky is blue. I blame the stay-at-homers and third-party voters even more, because they should have known better. (Sure, Trump voters should have known better too, but that’s like expecting Koko the gorilla to perform calculus.)

Hear hear! I’d like to add to that list Bernie and his holdouts that devided Democrats long after he had any chance of actually prevailing.

Don’t believe the polls, folks. We have the numbers - get out and prove it.

There’s a lot of talk now about Roe vs. Wade being overturned as a result of the new Supreme Court justice, whoever he or she may be. I’ll tell ya what, if that ever happens, that will spark the greatest mass demonstrations, uprisings and whatnot, the likes of which have not been seen since the darkest days of the 1960s, maybe surpassing those by a long mile. There be my prediction.

I think President Obama, as usual, pegged it correctly recently when he told Democrats to stop whining and get to work.

I would have thought so, too, until I read the other thread which explains how an overturn would ban abortions in red states (where they’re already difficult to procure), but not in blue ones.

If a federal legislative ban were passed as well, okay, there would be unrest — but I’m told that’s unlikely.

Democrats and progressives generally have spent too much time focusing on the presidency and not nearly enough time on local elections. Yes, progressives must stop Trump, but they must desperately regain their ground game and win back legislatures. The Republicans are 2 states away – 2 victories away – from being able to call a Constitutional Convention. If you think things are bad now…

I would almost accept Republican control of the high court, Roe v Wade overturned or not, and let conservatives believe they’ve won their little culture war while progressives begin to use economic issues to rebrand the Democratic party as the lunch pail party.

I have a very dear friend that is a Sanders supporter. Big time. Summer of '16 I started to worry that Trump may get in. I talked to her about it, and she wasn’t worried at all. “The women of this country won’t let us down!”.

I’m 99% sure she voted for Bernie. :smack: She was absolutely sure that Trump did not have a chance in hell, and wanted to give Bernie a bit of support.

I’ve know this woman for 30 years, over half our lives. I’ve always considered her to be quite intelligent, and even politicly astute.

Ooops doesn’t quite cover it.

Interesting that Trump wants to put off a vote on immigration (whatever the hell he thinks that may be) until the “Red Wave” in November.

Umm… I very much doubt the wave will be red.

This asshole, at least for myself, has turned we into a party instead of policy voter. Republicans must be shown that electing morons to promote their agendas and a few pocket books will not be tolerated.

As I understand it, there are proportionally at least as many opiate addicts in red states as in blue. There’s a thriving black market for opiates nearly everywhere.

How big will the black market be for abortifacients in those states that ban abortions?

I admit the greedy part of me wants to research which pharma companies produce abortifacients so I can cash in.

Not knowing your friend I’d say oops not only doesn’t cover it, it’s also unforgivable. The stakes were too high and Sanders just became an ass in the end not rallying around the party. That aside, I would expect the rank and file Dems to be smarter than to follow Bernie into Hell with Trump.

Time for an update? The “Hot Pocket in the Microwave” party, perhaps?

As a NY resident, had I voted for Sanders, 3rd party, or even Shit-Gibbon, it wouldn’t have mattered one iota. There are only a few key states, like Michigan and Pennsylvania, where it mattered. As an independent, I get no say in the primaries and the presidential vote is a foregone conclusion. Even the congressional votes are rarely contests. So unless this person voted in a contested state, it’s not even an oops.

It really depends, though. One of my best friends voted for the Cheeto-Faced Shitgibbon. I am not entirely sure why, though he is not exactly a staunch Democrat – he probably swallowed the EvulHilry bait or something. However, he lives in the blue half of a deep blue state, so his vote was some sort of protest-like thingy that amounted to null. I am not pissed at him, I do not unforgive his negligence, he is a good friend, life goes on. Only the assholes in the 3 states that matter should get out despite. Everyone else, whatevar, you hate them or love them as you will and forgive the ones who were duped, if you are the least bit fond of them (those diehard magats, though, treat them to a full-swung clue-by-four).

The problem isn’t that the Democrats have the numbers and a number of them aren’t voting; it’s those numbers who do vote don’t prevail in the regions where it counts. Going from memory (because, frankly, I’m too lazy at the moment to do a search for it), sometime in the last month, I saw an article discussing how Trump’s economic policies are going to screw over so much of the economy that people will be moving, Democrat people to Republican strongholds. And that, according to the article, IIRC, is going to be the game changer.

Let’s hope.

Exactly my point. Sanders could have chosen to support Hillary in the end and softened the ‘Crooked Hillary’ sentiment for the undecided and middle of the road Democrats.
