This level of casual child abuse just boggles the mind. How is it even legal? Since when is it defensible to punish children for the “crimes” of their parents? And not even have a plan to eventually reunite them! In a just world, this would be enough to topple a president.
And now Trump is attacking NATO (the single greatest - and only - obstacle to Russian expansionism in Europe) again. In an amazing show of “projecting your crimes on the Other”, he is accusing Germany of being a Russian “captive”. Because German leaders weren’t smart enough to secure Trump’s permission before negotiating a 2005 gas pipeline deal with Russia.
On Monday he goes to Helsinki, to get his performance appraisal and marching orders from Putin - with nobody else in the room.
This is truly frightening. I imagine that for the first time, our NATO allies are seriously considering whether they can trust the American president with classified information.
I’m pretty sure they have been distrusting of him since he burned Israel a year ago.
They already know they CAN’T. Look what he’s already done with secret information… handed it to the Russians.

If there’s a long-term benefit to this disaster, it might be that the stable, economically-strong democracies who have been used to letting the US take the lead on foreign and military matters develop more leadership and take on more burden themselves. That was already happening, especially in Germany, but Trump provides solid evidence that Europe can and must take a larger role, not in Europe and elsewhere in the world.
Other than that, I got nothin’.

I’m sure it’s illegal for for CIA et al to feed trump untrue information but I can’t think of any law Germany would break they would care about by lieing to trump.
