I think you are mistaken. Just look at the tweets. Every one of them has some combination of logical, syntactic and spelinq erras – no one could be that consistent. He has people who do the things of which you speak, but they do it backwards to how you would expect. His stuff is like phone or spam scamming, tailored to get the stupid but filter out the dangerously intelligent.
I saw a description of how this would work, and I’m not sure it’s a terrible idea. If I invest some money, the investment just keeps pace with inflation, then I sell it, in real-world terms I’ve just broken even. I can’t buy any more than I could before. I’m no better off than I was before, but no worse, either; still it seems kinda harsh to view that as a profit I need to pay tax on.
I’ve often thought that our laws don’t take into account entirely predictable changes that we all know will occur. Life spans get longer. Inflation happens. Laws that pin exact numbers to those events will inevitably change as real world circumstances change.
However, I’m aware of how this will shift the tax burden away from the rich (and to people who can’t vote yet or aren’t even born). Republican tax proposals have a “heads I win, tails don’t count” aspect to them. Taxes that penalize the rich are unjust and must be corrected; taxes that penalize the poor and working class can stay as they are. If people want to reform taxes, let’s really reform them. Treat capital gains the same as any other income. Have brackets and rates that actually raise enough revenue pay for everything the government spends.
