I don’t think he’ll interfere with the election process. Most agree he’ll quiet his investigation through the period between September 1 and November 6, in accordance with DOJ policy. So if indictments fall, I expect they will come between now and September 1st.
I thought the rule was “within 60 days of the election”, so I think he has got through like September 6. (Yes, I know this is a quibble but 6 Trump-days are about the equivalent of 60 or more days of a normal Presidency.)
Nonsense. It doesn’t have legs. Fox “News” barely mentioned this story until it was discovered that the perp was an illegal immigrant and then, holy shit, stop the fucking presses, but it won’t work. First of all, if this guy is Willie Horton, then who’s Dukakis? The Democrats in general? What’s Trump going to do with it? Continue bleating about how Dems are weak on crime and weak on the border? We’ve heard it all already.
This poor girl would be just as dead if she had been killed by a citizen; Trump doesn’t give a shit about her, just about who killed her - and I believe that will be obvious to all.
Rachel Maddow mentioned that it was Duncan Hunter’s lucky day, since his indictment got pushed way down in the news cycle. This is further down. In any case, if one bad guy from this category means they are all bad, what does that say about Republican congresscritters?
Of course Trump doesn’t care about her. Don’t mistake me for a Trump defender!
But your “this poor girl would be just as dead if she had been killed by a citizen” is nonsensical. It’s trivially true, but so what? Do you accept this kind of logic if a NRA gun nut type argues “the Parkland victims would be just as dead if the killer had bludgeoned them all to death with a cricket bat”?
It will have to be an app-like thing, with videos and every other word will be a hyperlink to some other part of the story. You might get past F in the first volume, if you use 64Gb SDHCs.
Yep, instead of a body blow to the Democratic party in November I can see that Trump is likely to grosly mishandle this to the point of making even more people to see how hateful the president and supporting congress critters are.
Very similar to what took place in Spain in 2004 when after a terror attact the right wing party just grossly tossed hate before the election in contradictory directions, only to see the Spanish people notice the crass attemp of manipulation and vote against hate.
I think you are both grossly overestimating the intelligence of Fox viewers.
I’ve been watching the Russian Sanctions hearing that was undertaken yesterday:
To summarize:
Senate (Bipartisan) - Wants the Executive branch to do more, because what we’re doing now is having no effect on changing the actions of Russia and the midterms are coming up.
Executive Branch - Doesn’t want to do more because it would require hitting the Russian energy sector, which would have negative impacts on “global partners” and that it’s taking them a lot of research to finely target Russia in a way that doesn’t impact anyone except Russia.
Which would, possibly, be reasonable as a defense if the Executive himself wasn’t in the process of slapping tariffs around willy-nilly with no thought to the consequences. That’s a fairly large elephant to ignore, but so far (about 3/4ths through), no one seems to have mentioned it.
My thoughts exactly. And while the Republicans are making a big deal about this so-called unwritten 60 day rule, I’m not sure it applies. Because Trump isn’t up for re-election this year. Maybe he should hold off on indictments against any congressperson that is up for re-election.
I really don’t think there would be much national import on this story, regardless of what else was happening in the news cycle. I think the biggest impact: one more House seat in play; the odds of a Democratic take-over just went up a bit.
This will be bad news for Trump and Republicans.
From the Washington Post:
“Rivera worked at Yarrabee Farms in Brooklyn, Iowa, the farm’s president Eric Lang told The Associated Press. He was in good standing, according to Lang, and had passed the government’s e-verify system. Lang is the brother of Craig Lang, a “prominent Iowa farmer and GOP official” who recently lost the 2018 Republican primary to become Iowa’s agriculture secretary.”
Rivera worked for the Lang family for 4 years.
So it seems Republicans oppose illegal immigration unless it means cheap labor for them.
I seemed to have missed this story the first time it came around (March), so this could be old-hattery < (hey! new word!) to some.
Kinda shitty that the dingleberry architect of the trade wars was hired by Kushner after a google search, leading to an Amazon purchase of a Peter Navarro book or two, leading to hiring the ignorant, alarmist dipshit into the white house.
Great John Oliver piece on Navarro a couple days ago but my intrawebz skilz in finding it are failing me, as well as all known laws of physics.
Here ya go. I’m subscribed to the channel so it was a trivial search for me.
My bold.
If he passed eVerify, then there would have been no reason for the employer to think he was undocumented. Not that its a good look for the Iowa GOP, but they can pretty easily deflect that blame.
It occurs to me that having a Democratic majority in the House might serve thump’s personal, if not the party, agenda. That way, he won’t have to do any Presidentin’ at all. He can just run around the country holding rallies where he rants about how the Dems are obstructing him. In between golf weekends, of course.
Nope, I already discounted FOX viewers from my calculations. This gross attempt at misdirection will be noticeable more by Democrats, Independents and Republicans with courage, brains or hearts.
It is sad that a good number of people support the Mango Mussolini, but one has to take the significant number that will drop him with issues like this one and it is likely to be enough.
OK, I’m convinced. I’m going to vote for a Republican just this once.
…is not something you really expect anyone to say, is it?
That’s just god-damned brilliant!
